  • What All Is Needed To Install The Curt 13018 Hitch On A 1999 Mercedes-Benz ML430
  • When installing the Curt # 13018 on your 1999 Mercedes ML430, you will need to remove the bumper fascia. However, this actually isn't as difficult as it sounds as it is just a few bolts and it's off. I included an install video from a different hitch that shows how quick and easy it is to remove as well. As to how far it will stick out from the bumper, I cannot say, unfortunately. We haven't had the chance to install one of these yet so I do not have this measurement, but I do have something...

  • Should Orange Dot on Phone Screen Always Have Some Blue Around it with Curt Echo
  • I reached out to my contact at Curt regarding your Echo Brake Controller # C51180 and he said what you are seeing is actually completely normal. Because of the sensitivity on the accelerometer you're most likely always going to have a bit of blue around the orange circle and this won't have a negative impact once the trailer is hooked up. Remember that the Echo isn't technically activated by the brake pedal but by the vehicle's deceleration - so any time you slow down during travel it's...

  • Trouble Finding the Stop Light Switch on a 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350
  • The first thing that comes to mind after reading your question is that on some of the Sprinter vans you actually need to use a circuit tester that has an LED light to find the stop light switch. For some reason on some of the vans that circuit has so little output that a tester with an incandescent bulb cannot detect the signal. Try testing it with a tester that has an LED light and if that does not work then the next best thing would be to contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer to see...

  • You will want to install the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 119250KIT for wiring on your 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350. This product draws power from the 12V lead that is run to the battery and then sends a signal to the trailer connector once it detects that your light functions are being utilized. • Brake Controller Installation in 2015 Mercedes ML 350 4Matic with Factory Tow Package
  • There is no Tekonsha brake controller wiring adapter made for your 2015 Mercedes-Benz M-Class with factory tow package so your best options for a brake controller are the wireless Curt Echo # C51180 or you can do a wired installation of the Prodigy P3 # 90195 if you can confirm that you have the needed signals on each of the wires leading to the under-dash connector. The P3 requires four connections for installation: ground (white), +12V power (black), brake light switch signal (red) and...

  • You do not have to remove the bumper structure exactly from the 1999 Mercedes ML320 in order to install trailer hitch # 75087. • Installing Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158 on Trailer w/Separate Brake/Turn Lights
  • What the vehicle to vehicle (or vehicle to trailer in this case) does is to take the combined turn and brake signals on a vehicle trailer connector and separates them out so the turn signals and brake lights are separate. When using this converter on a trailer like you want to, you would not have to use diodes. I have included a picture that shows how it would wire up. Essentially you would mount this converter on the trailer. The trailer would need a regular 4-Way flat connector like...

  • Installing Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch # 75087 on 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML320
  • I have looked over the instructions, and despite the 10 out of 10 installation difficulty rating, I believe that if you have average mechanical ability, you should be able to complete the install without any problems. On a 1998 model, it appears that there are only 4 bolts holding the bumper fascia in place. Once those are removed, you can pull off the bumper fascia. The hitch itself is held in place by 4 bolts that will thread into nuts that have been welded behind the bumper structure....

  • Pairing the Prodigy RF Trailer Brake Controller with a 2005 Mercedes ML500
  • There are a few things you can try to get the Prodigy RF to pair with your 2005 Mercedes ML500. First, If you do not see displayed what the instructions say just keep going through the steps. Sometimes, it will not display what it is supposed to but it will still work if you go through the steps to completion. If that does not work then you can try taping off the pin in the 5 oclock position at the back of the RF (where the trailer plugs into) using electrical tape. Then go through the...

  • Will Curt Echo Brake Controller Work With 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350 on Long Downhill Grades?
  • The Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is a proportional brake controller, which means it the brakes are going to be activated based on your 2014 ML350's deceleration and because it activates based on inertia and not the type of braking, it will work fine. What you can do is set the boost level higher for the downhill grades, which will send out more initial braking power and allowing for more control.

  • Can Power Wire for ZCI Wiring Kit be Connected to Cigarette Lighter-Style Plug in Rear of Vehicle
  • Although it *could* work, I have contacted Tekonsha about this very situation in the past and their response is to only run the black power wire on your ZCI # 119250KIT to the battery. Reason being that the black power wire is there so that your trailer wiring is drawing power directly from the battery so that it doesn't affect the OEM wiring on your tow vehicle. A lot of 12V cigarette lighter-type outlets are meant for smaller accessories so if enough power is being pulled through it...
