To wire your Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV with a wiring pigtail # C51515 to your 2007 Mercedes ML350 4Matic you will need to hardwire the controller by function. Additionally, an installation kit that includes the 7-Way connector and wiring needed to install the brake controller, such as # ETBC7, will make installation go much smoother.

The pigtail has red, blue, white, and black wires that will need to be connected to install the brake controller. If your Mercedes ML350 has pre-ran tow package wiring, you will want to use a circuit tester, such as the on included in the # ETBC7 kit or # PTW2993, to test the factory wires and determine their functions.

The blue wire will be connected to the wire on the 7-Way connector that carries the brake controller output signal. I've attached a photo showing the location of this blade on a 7-Way connector. The wiring needed to connect the brake controller's blue wire to the 7-Way controller is included with the ETBC7 kit.

The red wire will need to be connected to a wire at the brake light switch, located near the brake pedal, that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. The brake controller will know when to apply the trailer's brakes based on the wire the red wire is spliced into. You will want to use a circuit tester to test the wires until one is found that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed.

The black wire on the brake controller pigtail needs to be ran to a 30 amp circuit breaker and then to the battery's positive battery post. This circuit breaker is included in the ETBC7 kit.

The white wire needs to be ran to the battery's negative post to ground the brake controller.

I have attached a photo showing how the brake controller will need to be wired, as well as a link that will go over installing a brake controller form scratch. The installation instructions for the Curt Venturer # C74VV and the Install Kit # ETBC7 as also linked for you.
