If you are installing Gooseneck trailer hitch # 9464-35 you will drill a 3-1/2 inch hole for the Gooseneck ball.
If you are looking at the B&W installation kit # BWGNRK1067-5W for a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500 long bed then it is a 4 inch hole. I have included links to the installation instructions for both hitches for you.
