MaxxAir vents like the # MA00-04000K run off of 12 volt DC power and with the symptoms that you're having I suspect that the USB charging outlet is running off of 12v DC as well and is tied into the same line as the vent. When you draw power for the charger it's taking it away from the vent, causing it to shut down. A lot of manufacturers will tie smaller appliances together to make the installation easier so it's very likely that this is the case for your motorhome.

I am not sure what type of ground the tail light uses but I recommend running the ground wire from the light to the main trailer ground to see if that fixes the issues. The most likely cause of a trailers connector getting stuck inside the socket is attributed to corrosion on the pins. If you can, remove the trailer connector from the vehicle so you can have more room to work. You can use a lubricant if you wipe it out after but force will be the best thing for this. This issue is somewhat common for more than just the Blue Ox Alpha 2 # BX7380. The first thing to do would be to make sure that the pivot points on the tow bar aren't getting clogged up with any debris, preventing them from pivoting. From the testing that you have already done, it does sound like it's a bad controller. But you can verify a few things first.
If you have power going to the brake controller (black wire), and you are getting a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed on the red wire, that part is functioning properly.
