The Draw-Tite Maxx-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75234 is a good fit for your 2017 MKX. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. You do want to tow the trailer as level as possible.
I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on an MKX. As shown in the video, the distance from the ground to the top of the hitch opening is 12-1/4 inches. This is done when the vehicle is parked on a level surface.

The best option we have for you to install a power inlet inside an existing opening is with the Furrion 30 Amp Power Inlet part # 431861 which requires a 2-1/2" hole. The standard opening size for a power inlet in 2-7/8" so the above is a great option for a smaller opening.
