Any trailer hitch that installs on your 2017 Lincoln MKX is going to have a small effect on the vehicle's hand-free liftgate feature, but it will still allow the system to operate. With a hitch installed, you will simply need to wave your foot to either side of the hitch receiver so that the sensor can pick up your movement.

For your Lincoln MKX, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75234. This is a Class III hitch that will provide a 2 inch receiver opening and a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds. I also recommend checking the vehicle's capacity as listed in the owner's manual. I recommend this hitch over the Curt model that is also confirmed to fit your vehicle because unlike Curt, Draw-Tite does not require the use of stabilizing straps like # 18050 with non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo carriers.
