How To Choose The Right Ball Mount For 2017 Lincoln MKX With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch
Question:
I own a 2017 Lincoln MKX and Im planning on buying your DrawTite hitch for it. I plan on pulling a Karavan personal watercraft trailer and I wonder what would you recommend to get the best trailer tongue height? Thanxs in advance...

The Draw-Tite Maxx-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75234 is a good fit for your 2017 MKX. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. You do want to tow the trailer as level as possible.
I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on an MKX. As shown in the video, the distance from the ground to the top of the hitch opening is 12-1/4 inches. This is done when the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
You can get a good idea what ball mount will work best for you by parking the trailer on a level surface and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the hitch height is greater, use a ball mount with a drop; if the coupler height is greater, use a ball mount with a rise. Select a ball mount that has a rise or drop measurement that is closest to the difference between the hitch and coupler heights.
I have attached a link to the ball mounts for a Class lll hitch you can check out. After you determine the drop or rise ball mount you need, just use the filters on the page to find the right ball mount for you.
Once you determine the right ball mount for your towing setup, you can take a look at the link to our website I have attached for the hitch balls that would work for you. When you find the right ball mount it will say what size shank is needed. Your trailer coupler should have the size hitch ball works with it.
If you do not have a trailer wiring harness I recommend part # 118682.
