The issues you'll run into installing an RV air conditioner in a van are BTU rating and roof thickness. First thing to do to fight sway is to make sure you have as much weight forward in the trailer as possible. Typically sway is caused by not having enough tongue weight relative to the total weight of the trailer. You will want to have 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer as tongue weight. Also make sure your tires are inflated to the max psi listed on the sidewall and that your trailer is level as it's being towed.
