For you application we have the SMI Air Force One kit part # SM99243 which works really well. This is a permanent install kit that was designed for applications where the tow vehicle has air brakes. What's great is this system is designed to interpret how hard you are applying the the tow vehicle brakes and put a proportional amount of braking on the tow vehicle brakes.
We had the chance to install this kit on a similar 2012 Jeep Liberty too and shot an install video that you can use as a guide. I attached the link to the video to this page.
