Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2011 Jeep Liberty Towing 295 lb Tongue Weigh Trailer

Question:

Will be pulling a new 17ft Clipper Travel trailer tongue wt 295lb with my 2011 Jeep Liberty 3.7liter 4X4. Im getting more sway than Im comfortable with and am considering adding a WD hitch with sway control. What do you recommend?

First thing to do to fight sway is to make sure you have as much weight forward in the trailer as possible. Typically sway is caused by not having enough tongue weight relative to the total weight of the trailer. You will want to have 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer as tongue weight. Also make sure your tires are inflated to the max psi listed on the sidewall and that your trailer is level as it's being towed.

Now that being said a WD system can help significantly with sway. Especially one that has sway control built into it.

The Straitline System part # RP66082 would be an excellent option. This has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs so it would be rated perfectly and it features the only sway control on the market that works to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
