For your 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport you could get a Thule Canyon XT Roof Basket # TH859XT if you have factory cross bars and mount it directly to them. If you do not have cross bars follow the link I provided that will take you to a page that will let you select a roof rack for your vehicle.
