The Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned Gooseneck Trailer Coupler, part # CG, will slide up in the 4 inch inner diameter tube that is on the trailer. It can be adjusted for height by using the set screws on the gooseneck trailer tube. view full answer...
The wedge that seats against the hitch ball on the Pro Series Adjustable-Channel Coupler, part # PSA200S0303 is not adjustable.
The latch and wedge are designed to fit a 2-inch trailer hitch ball only. What makes this coupler adjustable is that it can be attached to channel brackets like part # BDAC3000300 or part # BDAC5000300. view full answer...
While I completely understand it can be a bit of a pain and more time-consuming than you'd like, I have to recommend you only use the included bolts that come with an adjustable channel trailer coupler such as # CTA-400. Using these bolts (which are grade 8 bolts) ensure the coupler maintains its capacity and stability for the safest towing set up.
I know it's not the answer you were looking for but the only option to help prevent theft is to add a lock to the latch, the Master Lock Adjustable... view full answer...
There is no way to adjust the tension on the ball on the Trailer Coupler - Adjustable Channel Mount - Squeeze Latch - Black - 2-5/16" Ball - 15,000 lbs # CTA-280. There will always be some amount of play to allow for movement. If it was too tight the ball would not be able to move when turning or going over bumps which would cause other problems. If you find that there is excessive play between the coupler and the ball you need to replace the coupler. view full answer...
My contact at Demco confirmed with me that claw on the 50-Degree A-Frame Trailer Coupler, # DM15337-97, is not adjustable.
The coupler is pre-set from the factory and cannot have the tension adjusted on the locking claw.
If you are having an issue with the coupler latch, then you may need a repair kit. The Demco Latch Repair Kit, # DM5817, will replace the current latch in your Demco coupler.
I have included a video that shows how to replace your current latch with the latch kit. view full answer...
The latch of the Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15945 that you referenced is pre-adjusted to fit a 2 inch ball as-is and would not require you to do any initial adjustments for it to work properly. view full answer...
The Demco Trailer Coupler w/ 5-Position Adjustable Channel part # DM612466-81 is designed to be welded directly to the trailer as you know. With the different type of applications this is intended to fit they do not provide gussets or other reinforcements.
You will want to create you own that will match up with your trailer frame thickness and the height of the coupler. view full answer...
The Convert-A-Ball Trailer Coupler, part # CG does not have the holes as you mentioned for height adjustment.
This coupler uses the 2 set screws on your coupler for securing the tube inside your trailer 4 inch\ outer tube. You will want to have your truck and trailer level and take some measurements of your existing tube from the underside of the trailer to the coupler, and then use that measurement when you install this coupler. view full answer...
I would definitely go back to using a 2" ball because the 1-7/8" is going to be entirely too small and there'll be too much movement in the coupler.
What likely has to happen is you need to adjust your coupler to fit the ball. Inside the coupler where the ball hooks up there'll be an adjustment nut that you can loosen to allow the ball to fit.
I've attached a picture showing the underside of a 2" coupler and circled the adjustment nut mentioned. view full answer...
I took a look at our yoke-style coupler # CA-5210-B and there doesn't seem to be any type of adjustments that can be made for the coupler to sit more snug on the hitch ball. I would check to make sure that your coupler is cleaned out and free from debris and that you're using the correct hitch ball size for your coupler. For example, there is a 1-7/8" hitch ball and a 2" hitch ball. You wouldn't think that a 1/8" would make that much of a difference but it does. view full answer...
The Demco Trailer Coupler # DM07678-95 does not have an adjustable wedge as it is intended to only work with the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. There should only be a minimal amount of slack for proper turning. view full answer...
I spoke with Convert-A-Ball about the Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned Gooseneck Trailer Coupler part # CG and they stated there isn't a height adjustment range they can provide. The reason for this is because the trailer manufacturer will specify how much of the inner tube needs to be inside the outer tube. The inner tube is 22" long for reference. That said, I don't think 12" of adjustment would be far fetched to believe at all. I can't image there would be much more needed for most setups. view full answer...
When mounting a cast head coupler like Bulldog # BDA256C0317 to its mounting channel you will want to torque the mounting bolts to the specification indicated by the manufacturer in the instructions. The torque spec will vary from coupler to coupler. You do not want the head to be loose in the mounting channel; the design of such couplers relies on a firm grip of the coupler head inside the channel to allow it to deliver its rated performance.
I have included a link to our range of cast... view full answer...
When you have the Pro Series Adjustable-Channel Coupler, part # PSA256S0303 installed it should not have any play on the channel. This coupler is designed for a 2-7/8 inch channel.
I called my contact at Pro Series and they told me that if needed you can place a washer between the coupler and the inside flange of the channel if needed. view full answer...
Since you now have air bags installed on your truck, what you will want to do is re-measure the coupler height on your truck and adjust your Pro Series Weight Distribution (WD) system accordingly.
I took a look at the instructions for a similar Pro Series WD system, part # PS49901, and Pro Series states that you will want to load your truck up with all of the gear and passengers and then adjust the air bags so that it sits level. Then you will want to take the height of your trailer coupler... view full answer...
I talked to my guy at Reese about your weight distribution setup and you can place the frame bracket of the Dual Cam sway control bracket further forward on your trailer frame. Technically your trailer has a standard coupler. I am guessing you went with the bottom-mount coupler because the bottom of the coupler is almost level with the bottom of your trailer frame. The 20-1/2 inch measurement is to give you an idea of where the sway control bracket will be mounted, but that distance can... view full answer...
The Demco Trailer Coupler # DM69FR was designed with simplicity in mind. You only need to place the coupler over the hitch ball and lower it; ball and coupler will automatically engage. There will not be any more play and the connection will be as secure as other couplers and hitch ball connections. view full answer...
The Ram Gooseneck Coupler part # GCPN-30008 gets welded on the trailer and then attaches to the gooseneck hitch ball in the bed of your 2017 Ram 3500. You will want to use the adjustment holes on the coupler to try and get the trailer as level to the tow vehicle as possible. Once this is done you can then pull the spring pin on the coupler to secure it to the hitch ball in the bed. After the coupler is securely seated on the hitch ball you can then attach the safety chains and wiring. Then... view full answer...
It sounds like you are looking to replace a standard hitch ball style coupler for a lunette ring style trailer coupler like the Buyers Products 3-Position Adjustable Lunette Ring part # 337B20143 on a trailer. If that is the case, you will need to pick one out from the list below if the above does not work and then visit our dealer network link located on the product page for said coupler under the videos. I have attached a snip of this below. The old coupler will need to be cut from the... view full answer...
Though the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028585 coupled with something like the Demco 5-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket # DM13867-52, with modifications to make it fit your trailer, would get your coupler raised up, it would not be able to use your weight distribution system.
This will be due to the head of the system being far higher than the spring bar brackets on the frame of the trailer. This will cause problems when hooking up and turning and will not allow the spring bars to... view full answer...
