Adjusting a Pro Series WD System for a Truck with Air Bags Installed

Question:

I have the Pro Series weight distribution system and recently also added air bags to our truck. Now that we have the air bags, Im able to return the truck to nearly the exact normal riding position when towing. My question is this: The ball mount instructions say I should have the ball approximately 3/4 inch higher than the coupler I assume, as Ive read, to account for tongue weight and slight sag. Now that I can return the truck to normal riding height, however, is it safe or advisable to lower the ball mount to nearly level with the coupler just slightly higher so both the truck and trailer can ride in a level position. When I use the air bags as is, the trailer rides with a 3/4 inch rear-facing tilt due to the height of the ball mount. I just want to make sure this is safe prior to adjusting it, and wont compromise the security of the connection to the trailer. Thanks for your help. I love your site!

Since you now have air bags installed on your truck, what you will want to do is re-measure the coupler height on your truck and adjust your Pro Series Weight Distribution (WD) system accordingly.

I took a look at the instructions for a similar Pro Series WD system, part # PS49901, and Pro Series states that you will want to load your truck up with all of the gear and passengers and then adjust the air bags so that it sits level. Then you will want to take the height of your trailer coupler and adjust the WD system so that the ball height is greater than the coupler height of your trailer by 3/4 - 1 inch.

The instructions for the WD system that I mentioned have been linked for you to check out. The note I referenced is found on page 2 at the bottom.
