Do Mounting Bolts in a Channel Coupler Need to be Tight
Question:
When mounting a cast coupler to a adjustable trailer tongue channel do the 2 bolts need to be tightened enough to pinch the channel bracket tight to the coupler or is it ok for the coupler to wiggle a little on the bolts in-between the channel bracket? I think the coupler I am referring to is curt #45328

When mounting a cast head coupler like Bulldog # BDA256C0317 to its mounting channel you will want to torque the mounting bolts to the specification indicated by the manufacturer in the instructions. The torque spec will vary from coupler to coupler. You do not want the head to be loose in the mounting channel; the design of such couplers relies on a firm grip of the coupler head inside the channel to allow it to deliver its rated performance.
I have included a link to our range of cast head adjustable channel couplers; please note I could not find the part you referenced.
