  • How to Determine if a Vehicle Can Use Weight Distribution and if That Will Increase the Capacities
  • Capacities can range quite a bit on hitch classifications. The biggest and most important difference between a Class II and a Class III hitch is the size of the hitch opening. A Class II with have a 1-1/4 inch square opening and the Class III will have a 2 inch square opening. Check out the FAQ article I attached on hitch sized and classifications. To use a weight distribution system you will need to have a 2 inch hitch on your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. You will also need to consult the...

  • Dimensions of the Sumosprings part # CSS-1195R
  • I spoke to my contact at SumoSprings and she gave me the dimensions of the par # CSS-1195R that you referenced. The most important dimension would be the distance between the grooves of the spring as that is what fits between the coils of your vehicle. That dimension is 1.95 inches. That is why the part number ends with 195 actually. The overall diameter from the outside of the spring is 6-5/16 inches. The overall height is 3-1/4 inches.

  • Distance from hitch Pin Hole Center to Ball Hole Center on Ball Mount # AMSC10
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Cushioned Ball Mount, # AMSC10, to measure. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole measures 11-1/2 inches. I have included a link to our FAQ article on choosing the correct ball mount for you to view. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75579, is the most popular model for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video showing a typical installation for you to view. For...

  • What is the Distance From Ground to Hitch with 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan?
  • When installed on your 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, the class III Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75579 measures 13 inches from the top of the receiver tube to the ground. The class III Curt Hitch # 13364 is going to measure 13-1/4 inches from the top of the receiver to the ground. Keep in mind that you would need to use Curt stabilizing straps # 18050 to secure the scooter carrier or the warranty on the hitch would be voided. I have added a link to a video that explains how to use the straps as well...

  • Ramped Scooter Carrier for Use on 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • If your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan owner's manual indicates the vehicle's maximum tongue weight capacity is 360-lbs, then that is the maximum weight that can be placed on its hitch. If the combined weight of your scooter and the carrier you wish to use exceeds this weight capacity then you will need to use a small trailer instead of a hitch mount carrier to transport the scooter. At the 360 pounds that you mentioned, you would be fine. Exceeding the vehicle's (or the hitch's) rated capacities...

  • Can 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L Tow a 2,200 lb Trailer in the Mountains
  • That's a bit of a loaded question but I will line up my responses with your questions to try to help keep everything organized. Since you will be towing in the mountains I would say give yourself a larger cushion when it comes to towing capacity simply because the thinner mountain air will have an affect on the performance of any vehicle, especially when pulling a load. The actual max trailer weight rating for your 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L can vary on whether you have the tow...

  • Length of CURT Strap and Installation Location on a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • I spoke with my contact at CURT and he informed me that the CURT Bike Rack Strap # 18050 that you referenced is adjustable from 20 inches to 35 inches. The spoiler on your 2010 Dodge Caravan is not designed to handle any amount of weight on it so I would recommend not using an attachment point that puts any weight on the spoiler. As an alternate mounting location I would recommend you attach to the rack at a lower point on the rack and then run the strap to the lower portion of the lift gate.

  • How to Select Weight Distribution System for Use with Multiple Trailers
  • Weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) systems really need to be tuned to the actual tongue weight (TW) of the fully-loaded trailer, with all cargo and supplies in place and with tanks filled. Different systems have spring bars that are rated for a specific TW range, usually a range of several hundred pounds. It is possible to select a system now for your current pop-up, and when the time comes to get a new larger trailer just change the spring bars to a set that is rated appropriately...

  • How Much Does the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack Weigh
  • The Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # S63360 weighs 25-lbs and it's a great choice; Swagman really makes nice back racks as you can see from all the 5 star reviews. This rack will tilt away from your vehicle to allow you to open the rear cargo hatch with the rack still installed. Since this rack does not come with any locks you may want to also add the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks w/ 1-1/4" & Combo Shanks - 7' # S64031, which...

  • Availability of Tent for Use on Rooftop of 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • We do offer tents intended for use with a vehicle like your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan - the Rightline Gear # RL110907 - which mounts at the rear hatch, but we do not offer tents designed for a vehicle's roof. This spacious tent measures 8-feet x 8-feet and is over 7-feet tall. It is rated for a sleeping capacity of 4 adults. We suggest using tarp under the tent - Erickson's 10 x 10 reversible tarp # EM57032. It is quite likely that the van's roof weight capacity would be insufficient to...

  • How Far Will Hitch Pin Hole of Curt Hitch # C12264 Be Recessed Under Bumper of 2014 Grand Caravan
  • When we installed the Curt # 13364 on a 2014 Grand Caravan, we found that the receiver was recessed under the vehicle so that there was four inches between the hitch pin hole and the furthest rearward point of the back bumper. According to Curt, the receiver tube on the Curt Class II # C12264 is of the same length as the 13364, so it should also be recessed by 4 inches. If you'll be using the hitch for towing, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, part # C56331, a ball mount, a...

  • Solution for a Trailer Where the Tires Rub the Frame
  • We don't recommend using wheel spacers to give a wheel more backspacing for trailer frame clearance. The real solution you need is to go with a longer axle. Nearly all trailer wheels have either a zero offset or very close to a zero offset so none of them would have the backspacing or offset you would need. A longer axle will push the hubs out further and will allow the rims to fit without trailer clearance. I attached a page that has all of the trailer axles we offer. We don't have an...

  • What Are the Dimensions for Trailer Fender # HP36VR and How is it Measured
  • The 16-Gauge Steel, Single-Axle Trailer Fender # HP36VR is 9 inches wide measured from outside edge to outside edge. It is 32 inches long from outside front edge to outside rear edge (at the bottom of the fender). And it is 15 inches tall measured from the very bottom to the very top. So if it was sitting on level ground, from the ground to the top most part of the fender would be 15 inches. This is also demonstrated in the attached video for you. He measures it at the end of the video.

  • Will the 18" Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Increase Weight Capacity
  • The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4500 has a 1,400 lb tongue weight capacity. If you are using this shank on a system rated for less, this won't increase the capacity of the system but it can decrease the capacity of the system if using the shank on a system rated for more.
