How to Determine if a Vehicle Can Use Weight Distribution and if That Will Increase the Capacities
Question:
my 2014 dodge grandcaravan says it is rated for 3600lbs but calls it a Class II. It is really a Class III, correct? If I use a weight distribution and sway system how much more can I tow?

Capacities can range quite a bit on hitch classifications. The biggest and most important difference between a Class II and a Class III hitch is the size of the hitch opening. A Class II with have a 1-1/4 inch square opening and the Class III will have a 2 inch square opening. Check out the FAQ article I attached on hitch sized and classifications.
To use a weight distribution system you will need to have a 2 inch hitch on your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. You will also need to consult the owners manual of the vehicle to determine if the vehicle is rated for weight distribution systems. Some vehicle aren't so you will need to verify this.
If the owners manual says that weight distribution is recommended for your vehicle there will be a separate capacity listed for use with a WD system. That will be how much more you can tow with WD.
I attached an FAQ on weight distribution systems for you to check out as well.
