The 3000 lb rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System refers to any load carried in the cargo area of the vehicle and applied to the rear axle, not the towing capacity. Based on my research, Buick does not recommend flat towing the 2006 Buick Rendezvous. If you decide to flat tow, the Rendezvous requires a lube pump. I have recommended several other parts needed to flat tow, however we do not currently sell lube pumps.

Your best chance is replacement key # THKEYN2854. The lock on your cargo box is similar if not the same on many older Thule-made cargo boxes so if anything is going to work it will be this key. If the key goes in but does not turn then the issue could actually be that the key is not fully seated. They told me if the Class ll hitch you currently have installed is part # 36425, the Class lll Draw-Tite hitch, part # 75430 should line up the same. The bag measures 59 inches long by 24 inches wide, so I would recommend a 24x60 cargo carrier. It is a soft flexible bag, and will fit most cargo carriers, but you would get the most out of a 24x60 cargo carrier. Axles rated for 6,000 to 7,200 pounds usually will have 3 inch diameters. But it is possible for 5,200 pound axles or even 3,500 pound axles to have a 3 inch diameter axle. You could err on the side of caution and say each axle is rated for 3.5K for a total of 7K for the 2 axles combined.

The important thing to consider is that any towing system is only as strong as its lowest rated component. According to my research, the 2004 Rendezvous is rated to tow 2000 pounds, 3500 pounds for the Ultra model. If the hitch with the 5000 pound capacity is indeed the correct one for your vehicle it can certainly be used, but the towing capacity of your Buick will be limited to the 2000 or 3500 lb manufacturer stated towing capacity.

The tow package on your vehicle does not utilize a plug, you do not need one. The tow package wires are located under the dash, and can be accessed by removing the two screws that hold the trim piece on the bottom edge of the dashboard.
