Video Transcript for Inno Multi Board SUP and Surfboard Pads Review

Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at some Inno pads that are designed to go around your crossbars. Now, these help to make carrying your surfboard, your Sup board, or even other longer things you want to haul, much easier and much less damaging. So we're going to have the pad that wraps around just about any type of crossbar round, square, elliptical, arrow, even factory systems. And it gives you a nice pad there. So as we're transporting our surfboard or our paddleboard, we don't have to worry about scratches, abrasions and things like that occurring to our board.

But we also don't have to worry about tearing up our bars. All at all, I think it's going to give you a really good solution. It's more cost-effective than a lot of other options out there. You can see it's got a carbon fiber look to it there and it's got a little bit of a grip texture, so we don't really have to worry about sliding or anything like that too much, as we're heading down the road. It's going to be held in spot using three straps. We've got this one and one on the opposite side, and then also one just right here in the middle.

All of these are going to use hook and loop to get attached. Really easy to put them on. The one thing I would use a little bit of caution with, when your boards get wider, you know our surfboard fits right in between those straps really well. But as our boards get wider, like those Sup boards, they're going to be resting on top of those straps. I don't think it's going to do a great deal of damage, but right here on the end where they've cut that, they use a hot knife and cut it to where everything's nice and held together. It's just a little bit rough.

So if you we're super concerned about the finish of your board, I don't know that I'd want it rubbing back and forth on that. Outside of that, I think it's going to do a great job and help you get out to your destination. Now, as an alternative to these, Malone has a nice set of these as well. It uses straps that have, they're just like an elastic strap on each end and that same hook and loop in the middle, but nothing's on the top. Now that one's only 18 inches long where this one's 20 inches long, but I prefer that other one, just to be honest.

I like the Malone a little bit more than this one. It offers a little bit more padding. I know it is a little bit more narrow, but even with the the standup paddle boards, people have really good luck with that system as well. Now, the only thing you're going to need if you don't already have it, is a good set of straps just so you can go down around your crossbars, get everything locked into place and held in place.Outside of that, when working with customers, they really like this system, like how simple it is to put on. You don't have the whole rack and everything, you're trying to add on. All in all, I think you'll be pretty happy with it. Let's go ahead and just take a look at the installation process now and show you how it works. Now, to begin our installation, we'll have our pad nice and flat. You can see we've got all of our hook and loop undone. I'm just going to lay it up on top of the crossbar. I'm going to center it up pretty well. Then we've got our middle part here. I'm going to turn that around the other way. I like to pull this towards the back of the vehicle, this tab. So we just want to compress the pad around. Bring that hook and loop back. Get that in the middle done, and then we've got our longer straps here on the outside. Let's bring those around and get them attached. Now, we'll just position it so we've got it in line with that one in the front. We already had that one done and we just grab our board, set it on top and get it strapped down. Now, to strap your gear down, I think the best way to do that, it's going to be with a cam buckle strap and you want to be sure that it's designed with some protection built in. This is one we've got here from etrailer. We've been using this out here for a couple of years and you see it's got that neoprene pad so that can rest it down on our board. That's going to prevent any scratching or anything like that, we might get from that metal. Just lay it in position there. Now I'm just going to loop around under the crossbar on each side and reconnect in the middle. This is a continuous strap, under here, around, under that other side and around.Just like that. It should give us a good hold. Now, these straps are available on our website, again, if you don't already have some. We're going to keep it secure inside that protective inaudible 00:04:51 , and then we can just loop up our strap and put it in the keeper here. All right. Well, then at that point we'll just do the same thing on the backside there and we'll be ready to head out. All right guys. I hope that was helpful. As you can see, it's going to do the job. It's going to do it really well. I like it for surfboards for sure, with that 20-inch width. The wider paddleboards, keep in mind what we talked about, the way these straps come up. If you are using the wider boards, it's likely it's going to be resting on top of that, so if you think that's going to hurt your finish at all, then maybe switch to something a little bit wider like we talked about. But all in all, I think it's going to be a good product. I think it's going to get the job done. I'd probably buy the Malone. It's two inches narrower, but it is a little bit thicker. But all in all, if you like Inno, and if you like that finish quality and you want that rubberized texture, I think it'd be a good product.

Inno rack pads arrived in a reasonable time and intact/undamaged. They appear to meet all specs and seem well-constructed. Look nice on the rack and will likely work well.

My only concerns were: 1) the packaging was riddled with large metal staples . . . over-protected and over-packaged for the product, and a pain to deal with (and not very environmentally friendly). Shipping tape would have been more than adequate. And 2) a very unpleasant odor from the product when opening the package. Took some time to air that out, and had to move the package outside immediately.

  • Best Roof Rack and Surfboard Carrier for a 2020 Toyota 4Runner with the Raised Side Rails
While it is true that price does typically reflect quality, when it comes to roof racks you will be just as happy with the performance of a middle-of-the-road aero-style rack as you would with one of the ones at a higher price-point. Because of this I highly recommend the Inno roof rack for your 2020 Toyota 4Runner with the raised side rails. This consists of 54" Aero Crossbars # INXB138-2 and the Through Feet # INXS150. It not only gives you the aerodynamic crossbars but the feet also...

  • How To Carry a SUP or Surfboard on Thule TracRac Bars
I do have an option for you but the Thule SUP and Surfboard Pads for AeroCrossbars part # TH846000 are designed for Thule WingBar Evo, AeroBlade, ProBar, and Xsporter Cross Bars which are all about 1/2" narrower than the TracRac system bars so the bar will be too wide to fit inside the pad. I recommend to use the Inno Surf and SUP Pad part # INA771 which is more of a universal split bottom design that uses an elastic cord to cinch to the bar so it will work on the larger TracRac bars....

  • Recommended Inno Watersport Carrier for 36 Inch Wide Stand up Paddleboard
The Inno Locker Watersport Carrier w/ Crossbar Pads - Locking - Clamp On - 1 Boat or 2 Boards # INA446 is a great option for your large SUP. The similar # INA445 is a fit as well and is channel mounted but you will need pads # INA771 sold separately. These carriers are rated for carrying both kayaks and paddleboards so it will work well for you. You will need 9 inches of crossbar width past the 36 inch board so you will need a minimum bar length of 45 inches between the towers.

  • Does Inno Locker Watersport Carrier Fit Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars
Glad you asked, and it does, but you'll need longer bolts for the clamp-on version of the Inno Locker, or you can use the channel-mounted version. The reason for that is the clamp-on Inno Locker mounts to crossbars up to 1-1/8" tall, and the Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars are 1-3/16" tall. So here are your two options: Clamp-On - Inno Locker Watersport Carrier w/ Crossbar Pads - Locking - Clamp On # INA446 - Tall Crossbar Adapter Kit for Inno Locker Watersport Carriers # INISF722 (Note:...

  • Recommendation For Protecting A Kayak When Using The Inno Load Lifter INA453
By cowling, I assume you are referring to the coaming, which is the edge of the cockpit on your kayak. If this is the case, you will want the Inno Pads for Crossbars - 20" Wide # INA771. Typically these are used on a crossbar, and you may need two sets if your Yakima JetStream bars are currently bare, but they can also be used on the Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist # INA453 to protect your kayak when loading and unloading.

  • What Roof Rack Works with My 2004 Honda Accord Sedan to Use the Inno Locker # INXA445?
I have a great crossbar solution for you to use the Inno Locker # INXA445! For your 2004 Honda Accord 4-door with a naked roof, the Inno Locker will attaches as long as you have aero crossbars that have top channels that extend the length of the crossbar. For 100% definite compatibility with the Inner Locker on your roof, I recommend the following crossbar setup: - Inno Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 48" Long # INXB123-2 - Inno Through Feet for Aero Crossbars - Naked Roofs # INXS250 -...

  • Will Channel Mount Inno Locker Watersport Carrier Fit Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars
The Inno Locker Watersport Carrier - Locking - Channel Mount # INXA445 will definitely fit with the channels on the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars! I really like the channel mount system because it looks a bit more clean since there isn't a whole clamp setup on the underside of the bars. I do recommend picking up some board pads as part # INA771 so your surfboard isn't making direct contact with the crossbars.
