Rear Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for vans. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the van's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

SumoSprings Rebel installed showing separation of 2-piece springs

The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. The pieces come together to provide support when you are towing or hauling a heavy load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

SumoSprings compressing under load

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

took about 2 1/2 hours to put them on. Love them!! Trailer sits level and truck still has it's proper angle to the road!

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

Spent about an hour per side installing these. Drove the truck today fully loaded, I can't believe how much better it rides. My 2022 Ford F350 SW sagged when loaded, now it rides level again. I would recommend these to anyone using there truck fully loaded all the time.

Ordering experience was great and the product was delivered quickly. My only complaint is the box was pretty beat up and retapped but nothing was missing.

Love these. Were easy to install and work great. No complaints. Maintains ride height even with 10,000lbs on the trailer. “F-250 with gooseneck” for reference.

by:

Front and rear Sumo Springs installed. Have not had a chance to hit the highway as yet. Locally a very good ride. Thanks to Joanne K. for all of her help.

by:

they were a great investment for our motorhome. Swaying now is very little and it has to be very windy for me to notice. I will never own another motorhome without sumo springs. I have a forest river fr3 30ds 2021. Easy to install yourself.

by:

The front Sumo Springs made a major difference in the stability of my Winnebago motorhome. It handles the bumps much better without major jarring of the passengers and dampens the side to side motion in turns and under crosswinds.

by:

We have a 2009 build F53 chassis on our 2010 Windsport 32A. I ordered these Sumo springs for the front axle. Hated how bad our coach dashboard would shake and rattle when going over bridge transitions, potholes, and concrete roadway section breaks. Took about an hour and were easy to install alone. Couldn't believe how much these helped the front axle. Worked so well I recently bought a set for the rear axle also. Those are a bit harder to install due to having to drill holes in frame rails to mount the upper bracket and glad I had friend to assist me. Would have only taken a little longer without the help but still easy to do by basic mechanic skills. With having both now we can certainly tell the difference and wished I had bought them sooner.

by:

Sumo springs along with a steering stabizer, new shocks, and oversized sway bars seriously tightens the ride on older model RV with an f53 ford chasis. Long hauls become a lot less strenuous. I also put a memory foam and high density foam seat cushion on the driver's seat. We can travel all over with a lot less fatigue from fighting the wheel and pucker factor from blowing around the road. I took about 3 hours to unstall all 4 sumo springs.

by:

The Sumo mount had to be slightly modified on the drivers side (removed a 1/2" by 1/2" chunk of the plate) with a grinder to get it to fit on my 2022 f350 4x4. I contacted the manufacturer prior to making the modification. They did not have an issue. The Sumo reduced truck squat (approx 3/4") allowing the truck to ride level with a trailer (8k hitch mount and 17k gooseneck). When you hit a pothole, the impact felt in the truck was jarring and caused the truck to become unstable. The Sumo eliminated this problem. I chose the blue over the yellow after watching a video on etrailer about ride comfort. I added front Sumos after I installed the rear Sumos. The rear provided the a more noticeable improvement. I chose Sumos over air bags because they eliminated air leak maintenance and air pressure adjustments depending on the load.

by:

These helper springs made an amazing difference in the stability and ride comfort in our coach. Improved cornering and bounce control were immediately apparent. Plus, crosswind driving is much improved. The split design makes leveling easy as I typically raise the front of the coach rather than the rear. Installation is a lot of work, but can be done yourself with the right equipment. Very pleased.

by:

The work great! Was going to go with the Air-Ride air bags in the front but folks had noted that the bags are strained when the leveling pulls the front wheels up to the point of coming off the ground. Glad we went with these. The person I put this on for is Handicap (or Handicapable as she says!) and these do not require air or making sure the pressure(s) are correct and holding.
It was a pain in the butttt get the original jounce bumper off the drivers side, but we muscled through it!! Thanks, Amy, for your help in ordering!! v

by:

I put a small leveling kit in my 2500hd Silverado. I noticed afterwards towing my excavator or dump trailer I was getting some rear sag when I had my trailers loaded heavy. I considered doing air bags for the rear. Instead I installed the sumo springs. I installed them in about an hour. Very happy with them. No noticeable difference in ride quality while empty. And they keep my truck level when I’m hauling my trailers. 5 stars!

by:

I installed the Sumo Springs prior to a 7500 mile trip on my 22GMC 2500. We was pulling our 34 foot Travel trailer and I believe the springs made all the difference in ride stability as well as control while pulling.

by:

Ordered the sumo springs on a Thursday and received them on a Thursday used the on line video they have had had them installed in no time this isn’t the only product I have gotten from them and will continue to use them great service

by:

Game changer! The factory should be required to install these on every motorhome. From white knuckle carsick swaying and wandering to a one finger smooth ride. Highly recommend!

by:

Bought these for my 3/4 ton. Oh my god, roughest ride . Removed these springs and replaced with air bags.

by:

I think they helped with the side to side roll I put on front and back sumo’s the roadmaster sway bar and front safety steer. Drove from Michigan to Utah . I think the ford f-53 is not a great place to start

by:

A friend and I installed these, if was not difficult to figure out and was a big savings. My wife noticed the difference without knowing it. On a trip to a frequent location she would complain the entire trip after installation on the same trip she did not complain at all. Success!

by:

The installation went very well. The ride seemed smooth.

by:

My THOR motor coach has the Ford F-53 chassis. I rides like a truck. That should not be surprising as "it is a truck." I purchased and installed these Sumo Springs and even though it will never be "air bag" suspension, the Sumo Spring made a wonderful difference in improving the ride. I would recommend this add on to everyone and as I meet similar motor coaches on the road, I show them the Sumo Springs and I do recommend them.

  • Do You Recommend the Timbrens or the SumoSprings for a 5th-Wheel on My 2022 Ford F-250?
When towing your 5th-wheel trailer on your 2022 Ford F-250 (4x4), I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel # SSR-128-47-2 over the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRTT350J. The reason why is because the SumoSprings, even though they are similar to the Timbrens, are made of a more pliable material for a better ride quality. Overall, the SumoSprings has a 5,000 pound weight capacity (at 50%) compression, which is more than enough to support the vertical load on your 10,000 pound trailer....

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2022 Ford F-350 4WD Towing 5th Wheel
Since you don't have the 5th wheel half the time, and are concerned about unloaded ride quality, you definitely want the SumoSprings over the Timbren # TFR350SDJ. You also want to make sure the capacity is enough for your pin weight. This means you would need the 2 piece SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2. The cost may be a little higher compared to some others but it will be well worth the investment on your new truck. These SumoSprings have a capacity of 5,000 lbs...

The heavy duty SumoSprings kit you would want for your 2021 Ford F-250 would be the # SSR-128-47-2 which has a 5k capacity. If there is no bump stop perch over the axle you would instead need the kit part # SSR-129-47-2.

  • 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4WD SumoSprings Recommendation
I recommend using the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2 for your 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4WD because of the higher 5,000 lb rating. Since the springs are progressive you won't get help from them until they are needed - so the higher rating is better since it means you'll get more help. Please note these won't increase the weight rating of your vehicle as they are designed to simply support an OEM suspension that's in good working order.

  • Recommended Replacement Bump Stops for Slide in Truck Camper on 2022 Ford F-350
The Timbren # TFRTT350J is a fit for your 2022 Ford F350 4x4, but its 8600 lb capacity would be overkill for your application, in my opinion. You'd have a pretty rough ride with the suspension under load. I believe you'd be happier with the SumoSprings # SSR-128-47-2 with its 5000 lb capacity. The SumoSprings are made of a more pliable material which would provide a better loaded (and unloaded) ride quality, The # SSR-128-47-2 is for vehicles with a bump stop perch over the axle, If you...

  • SumoSprings or Timbren on a 2020 Ford F-350? Which is Better for a 5th Wheel Trailer?
I always recommend SumoSprings over Timbrens for any vehicle that is not being used as a work truck. SumoSprings have two mounting points that only come together when a heavy load is placed on them. Timbrens will affect your daily driving and will give your rear end a bouncy stiff feeling when you are not towing. For your 2020 Ford F-350 you will want the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-128-47-2. You will want to confirm your truck has a bump stop perch over the axle....

  • Recommended Sumo Springs Suspension Enhancement for 2020 Ford F250 Carrying Slide In Camper
Unless you're using your truck to plow snow, most folks don't need suspension enhancement at the front. If you are pushing snow, the # SSF-111-54 with a 2800 lb capacity would work great. For the rears, I'd recommend # SSR-128-47-2 for 4 wheel drive trucks or # SSR-129-47-2 for 2 wheel drive trucks for a 4600 lb capacity. These will do a great job of handling any slide-in camper your F250 would be rated to carry. You can see product description videos for the items I recommended by clicking...

  • Recommended Suspension Upgrade/Enhancement for 5th Wheel Towing with 2022 Ford F-350
Since you're not planning on using the truck for hauling, the load applied to the rear suspension of your truck will be consistent, which means that you won't need the adjustability provided by air helper springs, so we can rule those out from the get-go. The TorkLift # TLA7311 StableLoad features a swing-out tab that allows the overload springs to engage earlier which is a pretty clever device, but the problem is that you'll need to reach under the vehicle with a ratchet to engage and...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2021 Ford F-250 Tremor with Truck Bed Camper
I recommend using the Sumo Spring Custom Solo Helper Springs # SSR-127-54, which I like here because they're only going to go to work when you're hauling your truck bed camper and will otherwise not change the unloaded ride quality. The Sumo Springs are progressively load bearing with a 2800-lbs capacity and get stiffer as weight is applied to them, so they're great for truck bed campers and will work to help fight body roll and suspension sag when heavy loads are in the truck bed. I do have a solution, but according to SuperSprings International none of the SumoSprings will fit the 2022 F-250 with the Tremor package. Instead, I recommend the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-SLHD. The RAS converts your factory leaf springs into a mechanically active system. Timbren makes a great product, but I prefer the SumoSprings # SSR-128-47-2 for trucks with a bump stop perch over the axle or # SSR-129-47-2 for vehicles without the perch. 4x4 vehicles should use the # SSR-128-47-2, but you'll want to check for the bump stop perch to be sure.
