Best Air Bag Option For A 2022 Ford F-350 FX4 Dually Towing A 5th Wheel Camper

Question:

I just upgraded my truck to a 2022 F-350 dually and want to get some air bags on it for when I tow my 5th wheel camper. This truck does have the FX4 package and I have seen a few things saying I cant put air bags on becuz of that. Is this accurate? I dont tow all the time and was originally looking at the SumoSprings Rebel system, but I want to be able to adjust them down when Im not towing.

You are correct in that there are a few issues with the FX4 Package on your 2022 Ford F-350, and having a dual rear wheel model compounds this a little, but it absolutely does not exclude your truck from being able to get air bags to fit properly.

With that said, I recommend going with the American made Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL26KV. These will give you 5,000 pounds of load carrying capacity at 100 psi, but can then be deflated down to 5 psi when you are not towing, which will impact your ride a lot less severely than a heavier duty system. The internal jounce also keeps the spring from bottoming out and pinching the bag and is a very nice feature.

As to the SumoSpring Rebel # SSR-128-47-2 system, not being able to adjust them when not towing is their only downside. There are no fitment exclusions with them, which is very nice, but I to like the adjustability of air bags.

Just as a side note, I always recommend a compressor system when someone is looking at air bags as it does make life easier. Especially when you look at the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System # AL25980EZ. This uses either an included remote or an app you can download onto your smartphone and will allow you to adjust the pressure on the fly, which is very nice. The included U-bolt also makes for an easy and drill-free attachment to the frame of your truck.
