One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

The cooler was easy to install, the instruction were easy to follow. I did check the oil temp after pulling a 4000 ft grade pulling a camp trailer with an electronic temp probe and there was a 50 deg temp drop thru the cooler. 669243

You should not have to worry about that warning since it is uncommon. The transmission cooler # D13611 comes with an Insta-dapt fitting that you can use to avoid have to flare the steel or aluminum lines. The worst case scenario is that you would have to flare the metal lines, if applicable.
If the lines are aluminum you can flare them with a Phillips screwdriver. Steel lines would require a flare tool which your local auto parts store should have. But I do not think that will be necessary... view full answer...
The best transmission cooler that will fit and works best for your 2011 Ford Escape and 2010 Mercury Mariner is the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets, # D13611. This fan measures 11" wide x 3-7/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep to provide the correct fit on your vehicles. This cooler works the best because it features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure. view full answer...
Yes, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets # D13612 does fit your 2009 Ford Escape and will work well. This has more cooling capacity than the # D13611 so it would be a better option! view full answer...
We do carry a variety of Derale Transmission Coolers for your 2007 Chevy Tahoe. If you are looking for a class I Plate-Fin cooler, here it is # D13611. If you need a class II get the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Cooler # D12906. There is a class III Plate-Fin available too, part # D13503 and also a class IV Tube-Fin # D12904.
The difference between the Plate-Fin and Tube-Fin style is that the plate and fin models can cool better than the tube and fin models. Also, the higher the Class of... view full answer...
From what I can recall, the problem with the mid 2000's Nissan truck radiators was that the combined transmission cooler/radiator would develop a leak that allowed coolant to mix with the transmission fluid, which damaged the transmission.
Installing an 'OEM quality' aftermarket radiator with the integrated transmission cooler is the recommended repair, which will solve the leakage problem.
Over the years, we've gotten numerous questions about this from folks who just want to cap off... view full answer...
I contacted Derale to verify that any transmission cooler will work on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee as long as it will fit where you want to install it. I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Item # D13611 as it is small enough to mount in many different locations but still provide you with the proper cooling for your transmission. I have also provided a link to the different size coolers for a Jeep Grand Cherokee so you can take a look and get a better idea... view full answer...
There are several coolers recommended for your 1990 Dodge Caravan. I have incldued a link to them for you. The type of coolant the vehicle uses is not a factor. Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific and are flow through devices with no moving parts so the type of fluid and the vehicle are not issues.
We recommend installing the largest cooler that will fit in the vehicle. This is because transmission fluid cannot be over cooled and because a larger cooler will be more efficient.... view full answer...
For your 2016 Ford F-150 5.0 Liter, I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets item # D13611. This cooler is the highest capacity available for your F-150. It is 11" wide x 3-7/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep.
The reason I like this cooler over others is that it includes a complete mounting kit, with OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps, Insta-dapt radiator adapter and hose-barb fittings.

For your 2006 Mitsubishi Raider, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class I -Extra Efficient # D13611 is a small but strong transmission cooler. It requires no extra fittings for installation.
For a better transmission cooler, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503. This cooler is designed for Mitsubishi Raiders with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. This... view full answer...
The Derale transmission coolers we sell are intended as a supplemental cooler that is meant to augment the factory transmission cooler portion of the radiator, not replace it entirely.
If you are experiencing the common problem with the radiator leaking causing the engine coolant to contaminate the transmission fluid, your best bet really would be to have the original radiator replaced. I did a Google search using the keywords Nissan Radiator Problem and found that Nissan has extended... view full answer...
All of the Derale transmission coolers, like the Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13611, come with the Derale Insta-dapt Radiator Adaptor # D13004. This fits most vehicles with 5-16" transmission lines. Since it will not fit every line you may need additional fittings or you might need to alter the OEM lines or hoses to install it.
Even though the Insta-dapt is most likely the only other fitting that you will need, you can find additional fittings that you might end up needing... view full answer...
I'll start this off by saying that you should always consult your owner's manual when looking for exact specs in regards to your vehicle's capabilities and capacities, but from what I was able to determine from my research, the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Trailhawk trim has a towing capacity of 5000-lbs (based on it being a V6 3.6L engine).
Without knowing the specific model of Forest River R-pod trailer you have, I can't tell you the precise weight of that but they generally have a... view full answer...
If you're not planning on towing frequently at or near its 4500 lb capacity or in mountainous areas, the Derale # D13611 you'd looked at would be an excellent choice. The cooler is a plate fit design, which offers extremely high efficiency in a small package that won't take up much room on the front of your radiator. If you'll be pushing the vehicle harder by towing more frequently and planning on running up and down hills, a larger cooler like # D13502 would be a better choice. Unless... view full answer...
On a transmission cooler there are three basic types of heat exchangers. The most efficient is the stacked plate. The next one is the plate and fin, which is very efficient. Then, the tube and fin which is moderately efficient.
It will also matter where the heat exchanger is installed. The best spot for the greatest efficiency is between your vehicles grille and the AC condenser core on your 2007 Jeep Liberty. The next best spot is between the AC condenser and the radiator. This spot will... view full answer...
It is pretty common for aftermarket products such as transmission coolers to deliver performance that is superior to that of OEM components. Transmission coolers vary in their efficiency/cooling power and are given Class Ratings to indicate their effectiveness. Small is okay but bigger is definitely better when it comes to coolers.
For example, a small cooler like the Derale # D13611 (about 11 x 4-inches) carries a Class I rating while the much larger # D13503 (11 x 8-3/4-inches) is rated... view full answer...
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13611, will fit your 2005 Honda CR-V. It is a Class I transmission cooler which means it is designed to be used when towing up to 2,000 lbs. It will work when towing your 1,800 lb. camping trailer. It measures 11 inches wide x 3-7/8 inches tall x 1-1/4 inches deep.
I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13502. This is a Class II transmission cooler which is rated for towing up to 3,500... view full answer...
Mounting a trans cooler in front of everything else, radiator and AC condenser, will yield the most cooling ability. The size of the heat exchanger is the factor that weighs most heavily on the cooling ability followed by location and construction/design.
The best way to select a cooler is by considering the load you will be towing and the area you will be towing in. The cooler needed to aid in towing a single jet ski in a cool or moderate climate would not be nearly as big as the cooler... view full answer...
I looked up an online version of your 2004 Honda Pilot's owner's manual and it states that additional transmission and power steering coolers are required to tow. It also states that a trailer that weighs 1,000 pounds or more should have its own operating brakes.
I've attached an article on coolers that you might like. The firs thing in choosing one is find a place to put it in your Pilot. The best place is always in front of the radiator so it will get as much air flow as possible.... view full answer...
When you install the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13611 a little extra fluid will be needed. The last part of the installation instructions have you add fluid as needed and then drive the vehicle for a little while and recheck the fluid level. Not much additional fluid is needed unless much is spilled when you disconnect and reconnect the lines. Normally just a few ounces of fluid is needed. view full answer...
The plate-fin transmission coolers are more efficient than the tube-fin transmission coolers. Both types of coolers operate the same, but the plate-fin coolers uses smaller plates to allow more fluid to contact the aluminum surface inside the cooler. More surface contact results in greater heat dissipation.
I have attached two FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out.
When choosing a transmission cooler, we always recommend installing the largest transmission cooler... view full answer...
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 1996 Subaru SVX is the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with Barb Inlets, Class III # D13503. This cooler will provide a large surface to help further cool the transmission fluid, with the cooler measuring 11 inches wide x 8-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep.
The plate and fin style transmission cooler offers an increased surface area for cooling over the more traditional tube and fin style. Derale's # C13503 cooler a great... view full answer...
Since you mentioned it does not have the factory tow package, but that you do have a 4-way, I am going with the assumption that the 4-way was an aftermarket addition. To use a brake controller, you will need to adapt your current 4-way into a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 kit will provide you with everything that you need to adapt the 4-way into a functioning 7-way to use a brake controller.
The brake controller that I recommend... view full answer...
I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking... view full answer...
Transmission coolers should not impair the engine's ability to stay cool when operating. One point to note is that these coolers are much smaller than the radiator and allow plenty of air flow to pass both around and through to the engine.
For transmission coolers, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13611 is a fine choice. It's a radiator style design and the fluid is continually agitated to help dissipate heat. Include is a video review for more information. view full answer...
