Stacked-plate heat exchangers have long been considered the most effective type of oil or transmission cooler, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. As a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube-and-fin, or even plate-and-fin, varieties. Add to that the turbulator technology - whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure - and you have an absolutely superior cooling system.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a look at this Derale Class Four 16 Row High Performance Stacked Plate Cooler. This superior heat exchanger is going to prevent heat-related failures and increase the life of your vehicle's transmission, improving overall functioning and performance. Now, stacked plate heat exchangers have long been considered one of the most effective type of oil or transmission coolers, primarily because of their increased surface area. Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. So as a result, plate coolers typically manage to cool a greater volume of fluid faster than tube and fin or even plate and fin varieties.
Add to that, the turbulator technology, where the fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure, and you have a great cooling system. Now, this cooler does facilitate heat transfer between high pressure fluids with this furnaced braised aluminum construction. It is designed as I mentioned earlier with 16 rows of two inch wide turbulator plates for increased capacity and more efficient cooling. And this will work as either an engine oil or transmission cooler. It does come with these built in mounting brackets that you see here on the sides, and it includes these aluminum fittings.
And the inlets are Negative 10 AN O-Ring Female. And I'm going to put up a diagram there on your screen just to go over some of the dimensions here that are going to be important for you. Overall, the overall dimensions of this cooler is 13 inches wide, and it is six and 11 16th inches tall and two inches deep. The distance between the inlets center to center is 10 inches, and then the mounting dimensions is 12 and a quarter inches wide, and four and seven eights inches tall.
