Dimensions

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most Chrysler Town and Countrys with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Jeep Wrangler

The product is great, the only issue I had was that it did not have the correct connectors for the Jeep Wrangler, but I was able to get some quickly. It's kept my Jeep's Trans fluid temp nice and cool, even when pulling my 3k pound travel trailer.. GREAT!

by:

Easy to install and has worked great on my '06 4Runner v6. A little extra piece of mind for the mountains. This size just barely fits on the passenger side of the radiator - there is a central, vertical support bar behind the grill that prevents a wider cooler from fitting.

by:

I can not install the transmission cooler BECAUSE the other parts ordered has not arrived.

by:

This Transmission cooler really works well. It keeps my transmission much cooler while towing heavy trailers. I connected it in series with the factory coolers for a lower operating temperature. If towing or hauling heavy loads I recommend this plate cooler. Also plates remove more heat than tubes.

This cooler is great. The transmission even towing rarely ever gets above 150 degrees. Heat is the main cause of transmission failure and fluid turning to varnish. Highly recommend this cooler.

by:

Packaging was damaged but no damage to cooler due to solid construction. Had done online searches for installation tips and suggestions. All very beneficial. However, this cooler is larger than many I saw online and I had to find an alternate installation location. I was able to find a suitable location in front of radiator and minor modification (drilled two additional mounting holes in mount bracket and trimmed one corner for clearance.) Overall has shown lower transmission operating temps. Have not towed since installation and hope that lower temps carry over to towing a load. I give this product, shipping, and customer service a thumbs up.

by:

This was easy to mount in front of the radiator, and connections were correct to run as 2nd trans cooler for Armada, towing 6500lbs. Immediate change to about 15-20 degrees on long uphill climbs. Just need to inform the tranny guys that it takes more fluid whenever you get a change.

by:

Works great to cool the air going into my Air Compressor tank.

by:

Replaced Trans cooler on 1 ton. Temps running lot lower than stock cooler.

by:

Parts arrived fast and in good condition. My setup needs recessed mounting, and I must use the cooler's bolt holes for proper clearence and support. Supplied plastic ties and foam are not quite enough for a secure mounting, and the supplied hose barb fittings are nice aluminum, but I need a 1/2" barb end, not 3/8". These little things are no problem. I'm happy and will buy from e-trailer again.

Installed it on a 99 Ford F250 with a diesel, that was having transmission overheating problem when towing a trailer. Fixed the problem.

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche

This aux transmission kit was easy to install and did just the trick in bringing my engine and trans temps down form towing my trailer. Definitely recommend!

by:

Works great. Easy to install. Instructions were also good. I also believe this site had videos on the install as well.

I added the cooler brfore going on a cross country trip. So far, I have climbed the ozark mountains , Guadalupe mountains, kings canyon and death valley. The highest temperature so far was 186. I'd say it is working better than expected

1996 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Really sturdy and heavy duty, had to move my tire for install but not relocate it on my 96 f250. Took me a little over an hour, had pre existing holes so I only had to drill two of them out.

by:

Good product. Great instructions. For me, easy to install

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler be Bypassed on a 2005 Chevy Tahoe
If you choose to bypass the factory transmission cooler on your 2005 Chevy Tahoe then I recommend a large cooler that will fit and the most efficient design. If it were me I would go with cooler kit # D13614. It is rated ad a Class V, extra efficient, which would definitely work better than the factory cooler. Remember that you will need to plug the factory cooler inlet and outlet if you bypass it with this method. I have linked a video review of this cooler and a link to our help article...

  • Transmission Cooler for 2003 Toyota Tundra with 4.7L Engine
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific items, so the idea is to choose the largest, most efficient cooler that will fit in the space available. The best and most efficient place to mount a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille in front of the radiator and A/C condenser. If the space available will accommodate its 11 x 11-3/8 inch dimensions, the Derale # D13614 would be an excellent choice. The fittings needed will depend on the diameter of your transmission lines. For your 2001 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine, I would recommend the largest cooler that will fit in front of the AC condenser at the front of the vehicle. The Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, would be a good choice. You will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, item # D13025, to complete the installation on your 5.4 Liter Expedition. A larger capacity transmission pan would be a good idea also. If your Expedition has a 4R100 transmission...

Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, they are universal and we put together some options on our website that are recommended for your 2002 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine with other parts that are needed for installation. This does not mean that other transmission coolers can not work, it just gives a guideline for somebody that is shopping for a transmission cooler. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 GMC Yukon XL
Both transmission cooler # D13504 and # D13614 can be used on your 2007 GMC Yukon XL. The difference is the capacity. The larger # D13614 has more capacity so it is more efficient but it also takes up more space. If the larger cooler fits I recommend going with it. You can use fitting # D13035 with either cooler to avoid having to cut and flare lines.

  • Recommendation for Cooling the Coolant and Transmission Fluid Temperature on a 2008 Chevy Avalanche
For the radiator coolant temperature, I recommend adding a supplemental fan or fans depending on how much space you have under the hood. There is no limit to the amount of fans you can have. A pusher fan, mounted in front of the radiator pushing air through it, would be the most efficient (provided that the factory fan is mounted on the same side and pushes air through in the same direction). A puller fan would be used on the other side of the radiator to pull air through. The largest electric...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma V6
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so there are no specific instructions for vehicles. Our best cooler would be the one that is most efficient. Stacked plate coolers are the most efficient and a good option with an install kit is the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13614. I have included a link to a video review of the cooler for you. Installation is actually fairly straight forward. I have included links to some FAQ articles and videos that will show...

  • Best Transmission Cooler for Off-Roading in a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser in Year-Round Warm Climate
The Class rating applied to transmission coolers is to help simplify choosing a cooler for a vehicle. Basically you would think about it in terms of a hitch class rating. So for example if your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser has a Class III hitch then a transmission cooler shown as a Class III is a good match. But ultimately you can use any cooler that fits in the intended mounting location. Derale transmission cooler # D13503 is a very popular option. It is a Class III but if you want something...

A supplemental automatic transmission cooler is recommended for towing or even for normal driving. Since transmission fluid cannot be overcooled, adding a cooler is a simple way to help prolong the life of the transmission. I recommend the Derale cooler # D13503 for your 2005 Nissan Titan. It is the most popular cooler for your truck. The best place to put it is behind the grille, in front of the AC condenser and radiator. That is where it will work the best. I have included a link to the available options for you to view. Out of these, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, which is most like the cooler you referenced. We do have several transmission coolers that use NPT 1/2 inch fittings though the hose size may be different. It is the inner diameter that you would need to know. The 1/2 inch NPT cooler use a 3/8 inch inner diameter hose. Since transmission fluid cannot be over cooled, the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment is recommended. You can install Derale cooler # D13614 as long as you have space for it to mount in one of the preferred locations (see the linked article) such as in front of your AC condenser. Ideally you want to keep the temperature of the transmission fluid in the 160 to 200 degree range. You cannot cool transmission fluid too much. Transmission coolers are universal fit items so you will want to measure the space you have in front of your air conditioning condenser or your radiator to see what size cooler will fit your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. There is a lot of pressure within the transmission lines of a vehicle, including your 2006 GMC Sierra so the tighter the fit the better. If an 11/32 inch hose is needed then I would go with it over a 3/8. Cooler # D13503 isn't really large enough or efficient enough to allow you to bypass the factory cooler.
