Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

2005 Honda Pilot
After one of use on a 2005 Honda Pilot, everything is holding up just fine. The one star less is because of the difficulty in installing it on this particular vehicle. Although this is a universal component, it is MUCH easier to install on pickup trucks. Best of luck with a brand new rubber hose going on with any sort of ease.521316

Our installers typically use some transmission fluid to make installing the rubber hose on the Insta-dapt fitting easier.

2009 Audi A6
I purchased this for my C6 Corvette A6 transmission. I did, however, bypass the radiator and only use the transmission cooler for the C6. I purchased and used the Derale Radiator Adapter fitting 259-13035 for both the top and bottom and just capped them off to keep debris out of the reservoir. I also had to make some custom mounting brackets. This is an excellent product and it keeps the tranny in a great temperature range. 552474

Jeep Grand Cherokee
Can't say anything bad about the unit. It was installed in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I use to haul trailers occasionally that weigh up to 6000 lbs. So far, I've never overheated the transmission at all, which I attribute to the addition of this cooler. Once again, thanks for a great product.1060658

1999 Toyota 4Runner
Ive got a 1999 4runner that had the unfortunate luck of having the integrated transmission cooler line rupture inside my radiator. needless to say, the transmission didnt agree very well with having engine coolant running through it and finally died out on me. I bought this transmission cooler to isolate the transmission and the engine cooling systems. The cooler arrived a day ahead of schedule, which is always a bonus. I didnt rate it at 5 stars because I havent had a chance to install it yet and see how it performs, but judging by the reviews that I have read so far, the customer service provided and the prompt delivery, I would say that this transmission cooler will keep my truck running for a good long while. Everything pictured arrived in the box and I have no doubt that it will perform as expected. I will definitely recommend this product and this company to my friends!30988

Very easy install, absolutely no leaks anywhere in the system after putting it into service. I did have to get additional hose for the install due to the location I chose for the cooler (personal preference). I centered it on the bumper side of the radiator to provide the best air flow. Remember to get a quart of transmission fluid to accomodate the larger system volume after the install. I took my grill off to provide the most room for putting the cooler in rather than trying to wedge it between the radiator and grill, made install the nylon fasteners through the radiator and cooler much easier. Should last for many years.61081

2012 Nissan Rogue
I ordered this cooler for my daughter's 2012 Nissan Rogue to fix CVT transmission heating up causing it to into limp mode. When I got ready to install, I found there was no place to connect the hoses to the transmission. The vehicle only had the direct "bee hive" cooler. Install was delayed while waiting to get a "4 tube bee hive" from a different supplier for an additional $114.551625

The trans cooler was easy to install. I had to go and buy some more hose and mounting screws to make it work but I knew that before I started. The hose was because of where I wanted it mounted. The trans cooler is keeping the transmission about 30 to 40 deg cooler then before.283694

2006 Chevrolet Colorado
for my 06 colorado with the 2.8l i4. also used the derale trans oil thermostat to help with warmup of trans fluid in winter. trans never gets above 190F now and the engine will overheat (212F) before the trans does. perfect upgrade for a light duty truck/van/car to provide a little bit of cooling at a compact size. very satisfied with the product1068407

2008 ChevroletSilverado
This product is great and installation was not bad at all. Only issue I had was that the GM radiator adaptor should come with this unit when you purchase it for a GM truck. Not as an add-on. Thought I could get it at GM but no go. I Had to work with hoses over 30 min to get them over the fittings even with trans. fluid on the hose and male fitting. So far it looks like trans temp has dropped 30 dg.134485

The part itself was easy to install and it does what it is designed to do. Only trouble with installation was with the vehicle, I had to remove part of the front cover on my 09' Avalanche to get to it. Also, I wish I had bought a black one to blend in with the rest of the radiator.705491

The transmission cooler, along with all the other products I ordered from etrailer was an excellent buy. they arrived on time and in excellent condition. A lot of people with Nissan vehicles are looking to bypass the factory cooler contained in the radiator like on your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The coolers we carry are designed to supplement the factory cooler although some people have used them to replace the factory cooler.
You would want to go with the largest cooler possible if you bypass the factory cooler and the inlet/outlets on the radiator for the factory cooler will have to be plugged. Or instead of the largest cooler you would... view full answer...

I have not ran into any issues where there was a thermal bypass needed for below freezing temperatures when using the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler part # D12906. There is a lot of heat generated when all of the parts get moving in there and a cool transmission is a happy transmission. I can't see the cooler over cooling the fluids to a point that there would be any negative effects.
For your power steering I rarely see the need to cool it. Even when hauling a trailer you... view full answer...
The D15505 is a bit larger than what a 2001 Saturn L300 would need or could fit. There are 5 recommended kits for your L300 based on the vehicle size and towing capacity. I have added a link to them below.

The item you selected, the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D12906 will work on your 2011 Subaru Outback as long as you have room to mount it on your vehicle. The ideal place to mount a transmission cooler for maximum cooling efficiency is behind the grill of your 2011 Subaru Outback but in front of the radiator.
You will want to measure at the front of your vehicle to make sure there is room to mount part # D12906 as it measures 13 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches tall.

The hose that is included with the Derale transmission cooler, # D12906, is long enough for typical installation locations, including in front of the radiator, as long as it is on the same side as the factory transmission cooler lines. It is entirely possible on any vehicle, including a 2004 Honda Pilot, that you may need to acquire additional hose. I have yet to have a customer complain about the hose not being long enough.
I have included some helpful links on transmission coolers for you. view full answer...
For your 2012 Toyota RAV4 the Derale cooler part # D12906 would be a great option. We normally recommend going with the largest cooler that will fit in front of the radiator. In the case of this cooler it measures 13" Wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" so you would need to measure the available room you have.
A more efficient cooler that's a bit smaller is the part # D13503 which measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. view full answer...
A class I or class II transmission cooler should work well for your needs.
I recommend class I transmission cooler # D13101, or a class II cooler like # D12906 would also work to help with the issue you are having during warm weather. Both of these Derale coolers are designed to cool very efficiently and install easily, and either one would be a good choice for your 2000 Buick Century.
In addition to the transmission cooler, you would also need the custom fittings # 41418 to match the... view full answer...
The main differences between the available transmission coolers is the style of the coolers and the size. There are style that are more efficient that others, and obviously the bigger the cooler the more efficient it is as well.
The tube-and-fin style has a tube that carries the transmission fluid through the cooler. It is also distinguished by its turbulators, which agitate the fluid to get more of it to contact the aluminum in the tube. Aluminum fins are attached to the outside of the... view full answer...
A transmission cooler will attach in-line with the transmission fluid return line on your 2003 Acura MDX. The best way to determine which line on a transmission cooler is the return line from the radiator is to use the following procedure:
1. Start engine while engine is cold
2. Place transmission shift lever in drive for no more than 10 seconds.
3. Stop engine and remove keys
4. Identify the transmission fluid return line by feeling both lines. The coolest line is the return line.

Transmission and oil coolers aren't vehicle specific, but in some cases the fittings needed to install them on the vehicle can be. To install the cooler on your Taurus, you'll first need to ensure you have available space to accommodate the 12-3/4 x 7-5/8 x 3-3/4 inch size of the cooler/fan assembly.
You'll need the # D15752 Install kit with thermostatic fan control for the oil cooler portion of the install and to tie in to the transmission return line, you'll need # D13014 if your car... view full answer...
I spoke with my contact at Derale and the reason there are two different hose fitting recommendations is because there are two possible diameter hoses that are on the 2000 Ford Taurus Wagons.
To determine the correct fitting you will need to know the threaded diameter of the transmission fluid line fitting in your vehicles radiator.
If you need a 3/8 inch fitting you would need a Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting Kit, part # D13014. If you need a 1/2 inch fitting I would recommend a Derale... view full answer...
To determine what kind of transmission cooler you will need depends on how much weight you will be towing and where you will be towing.
If you will be towing a light load, less than 2,000 pounds, in flat driving conditions, your 1995 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 will do fine with a Class I rated cooler. If you will be towing more than a 2,000 pound load through some hills, I would use a Class II or Class III cooler.

The main purpose of a weight distribution system would be to reduce sway and the strain on rear suspension, as well as improve steering, when towing your Vintage travel trailer with your 1989 Toyota 4Runner.

The best way to select the correct transmission cooler is by determining where there is enough space to mount it.
The attached diagram shows the best three positions to mount the transmission cooler in order. Transmission coolers are more efficient when they receive maximum air flow. The "A" transmission cooler location in the diagram is 100% efficient so a larger transmission cooler is not needed to compensate for the loss of cooling power.

It would not be required that you mount a Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part # D12906, in any particular direction, the line pressure from the transmission will push the fluid through the cooler regardless of if its mounted horizontally, vertically or any direction in between.
I would recommend you choose a location based on receiving maximizing airflow through the cooler, regardless of what direction it points.

From the research I did it looks like you will need to remove the front grill and bumper to install a transmission cooler like the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12906. There will be 16 plastic rivets that will need to be removed. You can use a screwdriver to pop them out. Take your time getting these out so you do not break them.

For a trailer weighing 6,000 pounds I recommend going with a stacked-plate cooler because they will be the most efficient and will provide the best cooling compared to the other cooler options. For a kit you can use # D13403.

It sounds like you have really done as much as you can to ensure that your 2008 Chevrolet Colorado has the advantage while towing. I think you stated the reason without realizing it, you are going up steep inclines while towing a trailer.
Even without a trailer your vehicle will experience extra heat due to the strain of driving uphill. Add to that the weight of a trailer and whatever cargo that if put into the Colorado itself and that is why you cannot go 60-65 mph safely.
