Recommended 7-Way Connector And Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2014 Honda Odyssey
Question:
I am in the process of setting up my 2014 Honda Odyssey to tow an ultra lite rv trailer. Im going to buy the curt 13068 trailer hitch. I also plan on purchasing the Blue Ox BXW0550 Swaypro weight distributing hitch. I believe the last thing I need will be a wiring harness that will connect to a 7-pin adapter from the rv trailer. Do you sell a 7-pin wiring harness kit for 2014 Honda Odysseys? I see 4-pin to 7-ping conversion plugs out there, but I worry that such a configuration wont work for me or wont charge my battery while driving. Please HELP!

I would be happy to help you get set up with all of the components you will need to tow an ultra lite RV trailer with your 2014 Honda Odyssey.
Starting with the trailer hitch receiver the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13068 is a great option which offers a maximum tongue weight rating of 350lbs and maximum trailer weight rating of 3500lbs. Keep in mind that your 2014 Honda Odyssey can only tow up to 3500lbs with 2 passengers and requires a transmission cooler to be installed. Since the amount your vehicle can tow changes with the number of passengers and weight of cargo added, I recommend checking in the owners manual of your vehicle to make sure you are staying within the towing limits listed.
I also found in the owner's manual that Honda does not recommend using a weight distribution system on your vehicle, So I do not recommend using the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System # BXW0550 you were looking at.
If your Odyssey does not already have a transmission cooler added I recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12906. When we installed this cooler on a 2011 Odyssey we also used some extra line # D13003 to complete the installation.
Moving on to adding a 7-way connector, the only option for your vehicle will be adding a 4-way connector and then adding the Universal 7-Way Connector Installation Kit # ETBC7. We have installed quite a few of these kits and have never had a problem with the kit powering the trailer, or having an active 12v pin to charge the on-board battery on your trailer.
If you do not have a 4-way connector already I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118521 which is a plug and play installation on your Odyssey and will not require splicing any wires.
With the 4-way connector installed you can now install the # ETBC7 by plugging your new 4-way connector in, and making a few more connections which you can see in the included video where we installed this kit on a 2014 Honda Odyssey. When we did this install we used the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136 to attach the 7-way connector to the trailer hitch receiver.
If your trailer has electric trailer brakes you will need a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which has a fantastic easy to read LCD screen and built in diagnostics that are are easy to understand.
Lastly you will need a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip. Using the included article you can measure your vehicle and trailer to make sure you have the correct rise/drop ball mount to keep your trailer level. You will also need to determine which size hitch ball your trailer uses which can be found by reading the stamped number on the coupler of the trailer.
With this information you can use the included links to find the correct ball mount and hitch ball, and use # PC3 for a hitch pin and clip.
I included installation videos for all of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
