Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Durable Acrylic Enamel Finish

This wheel has a durable acrylic enamel finish on the front. The finish is applied after the wheel goes through an environmentally safe zinc phosphate pre-treatment and is coated with an e-coat primer layer. Compared to powder coat finishes, this finish resists getting chipped from flying road debris or scraped from hitting a curb for a longer period of time. These acrylic enamel wheels performed for more than 1,000 hours in salt spray tests.

Beveled Stud Holes

Vesper Improved Torque Retention

The stud holes on this steel wheel are beveled to ensure that the wheel stays tight against your trailer hub. This also eliminates the need to constantly retorque the lug nuts.

Taskmaster Radials

Taskmaster radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Taskmaster radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, this deep, rugged tread channels water away so that the tire makes better contact with the road. This greatly improves traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. Because of this, the tire is specifically designed for off-roading on uneven terrain such as mud, sand, and grass, although it performs well on highways and other paved roads as well.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Video Transcript for Review of Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels - Tire with Wheel - TA25RR

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff of etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this task master ST 23575R15 radio off-road tire in a load range D and it's mounted and balanced on the 15 inch Vesper white modular wheel. It has a six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this is a balanced tire wheel assembly, which is ideal for trailers, off-roading on mud or other uneven terrain. And it can also be used on highways and other paved roads.

The way to tell that it's balanced, you'll be able to see that there is a weight installed in the rim or the wheel itself. Now, I did want to talk about the tread. They do use a nice deep, rugged tread on this tire. It has a tread depth of about 1830 seconds of an inch. So it's very deep tread.

This will help channel mud and water away from the tire to give you improved traction during any wet, snowy or icy conditions, or even in any muddy conditions. Also, another feature I wanna mention is about the shoulder on this. If you look on the shoulder it has this raised rubber design and it looks nice but it's also designed on there to protect it from any damage cause that shoulder area of a tire right along here, that is where most of the heat builds up in the tire. So that is the most susceptible to damage. So what they've actually done is they've built up with this rubber design, a thicker rubber area there to help prevent any damage to that area.

Now this is a radio ply tire which means it's constructed with double steel belts, double polyester ply for a nice long life. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. And this is an ST tire which stands for special trailer tire. It has sturdy sidewalls so they can handle heavy loads. And it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles.

The wheel itself, it is a nice sturdy steel wheel. Has the modular design and when we say modular design, that's the one that has these round holes that go all the way around the wheel. This steel uses a wide acrylic enamel finish on it to resist chipping and other damage better than the powder coat finishes. And that finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pretreatment and it'll cover an e-coat primer layer. This will give you excellent corrosion resistance with a salt spray rating of more than a thousand hours. Now on this assembly, the tire is match mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability and match mounting of tires and wheels. That's a process in which the tire is installation position onto the wheel is specifically selected to minimize final force of imbalance. The method to match mounting is they align the tire's lightest spot, which is usually a dot on the tire with the wheels heaviest spot, which most of the time is the valve stem. On some alloy wheels, they'll put an actual marking on it and that's to eliminate most of the radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear. Then what they do after it's match mounted, then they'll do the final balancing by applying weights to specific spots. You can see right here on the front, there's a weight here. And if I spin it around, you can see there's a weight right down here. When they put that on, that'll give or eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration. Now this assembly does come with a two year platinum plus warranty, which includes emergency tire change service and other benefits. The assembly does meet DOT, department of transportation standards and it will exceed federal motor vehicle safety standards. A few specs on this. Diameter on just the wheel itself is 15 inches. A width on just the wheel, six inches wide. The wheel does have a bolt pattern of six on five and a half inches. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel it's an even number of lugs, like in this case six. It's pretty easy because the lug holes you can see go directly across from each other. So if you put a ruler on that, measure from the center of one hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it, it'll measure five and a half inches. So that means it's a six lug five and a half inch bolt pattern. This does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20 and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 2,835 pounds. Last thing I wanna mention here is the pilot hole diameter. That's this large hole here on the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of this opening is 4.25 inches. And also if you, this wheel does not come with a center cap, if you do want a center cap, we do sell those separate on a website and you do wanna make sure to purchase the center cap that'll have the diameter of this pilot hole, which is 4.25 inches. Cause when you install your center cap, it'll go from the rear through this hole when you go install this. Now the tire size. Tire size will be stamped on the side well right here. ST for special trailer. 23575R15, the R stands for a radio design tire. Now the section width on this tire is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the very bottom to the very top when it's inflated, it's gonna be 28.9 inches. And this tire is a load range D, which means it's an eight ply rated tire. Has a maximum load capacity of 2,910 pounds at 65 PSI. And one of the last things I do wanna mention on the tire, it does have a speed rating on it now and the label the speed rating on the tire by the letter designation and where you'll usually find that is right after the tire size we went over. You'll see two numbers which is the load index and then there's a letter N. The speed rating N will signify that this is a 87 mile per hour speed rating. But that should do it for the review on the task master ST 23575R15 radial off-road tire in a load range D mounted and balanced on a 15 inch Vesper white modular wheel with a six on five and half inch bolt pattern..
