PC-Rated Lights
A PC-rated light produces a 90-dgree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side maker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Piranha round LED trailer clearance and side marker light with the amber lens. Now this is a small trailer light that'll function as both a clearance and side marker light when it's properly mounted. It is a Piranha series, which combines a nice modern design with a vibrant LED lighting for a unique look. Does use LEDs, which make great replacements for incandescent lights.
They're rated for up to a hundred thousand hours of operation. They are more efficient. They'll provide brighter light with less power output, and there's no bulbs to replace or brittle filaments that'll break. It's a nice durable plastic base with an acrylic lens, and it is an amber lens with five amber LEDs. This is compatible with 12-volt DC systems.
And at the end of this video, I'm going to try to hook this up to some 12-volt power to show you how bright the light is.It is a recessed mount design. It's designed to mount into a rubber grommet. Now that grommet we do sell separately on our website. On the very back, if you look, it's designed to accept the AMP-style plug for a nice weather-tight connection. You just push the two-prong plug right in there.
This is a PC rated light. So it will produce 180 degree beam pattern. This light is made in the USA.Give you a few dimensions on this. The overall diameter from one side to the other, right at two and a half inches. The depth of it, and we're going to measure to the front to where it sticks out all the way in the back.
So you're looking at right about one and a half inches deep. Power draw on this slide at 12 volts is 0.10 amps. Operating voltage range, nine volts to 16 volts. And we're going to try to hook up to some power here. So what I'm going to do is, it normally has a plug with that hooks into those pins. Let's see if we can get it all the way down in there. I'm going to go ahead and turn on our power, and there you go. You can see the five LEDs light up. I'll go ahead and turn off the overhead light. And you can see it's pretty bright amber light. And again, we mentioned it's PC rated, so it does produce 180 degree beam pattern. Go ahead and turn back on our overhead lights. Turn off our power. But that should do it for the review on the Piranha round LED trailer clearance and side marker light with the amber lens.
