PC-Rated Lights
A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.
Recessed-Mount Light
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're taking a look at a Peterson clearance and side marker light. Now this is an incandescent light. It's a round trailer light that functions as both a clearance and a side marker light for your trailer. It has a nice red lens on it with a white base. It's a recessed mount installation with a grommet. Your grommet is sold separately.
You can find that on at etrailer.com with part number 146-18. It accepts an industry standard two prong plug. It will work with 142-49 or B142-50. Both of those are sold separately. You can pick either one, whatever works best for your application.
But your grommet and plug are sold separately. They're available at etrailer.com.Now it does feature a non-replaceable incandescent bulb that is rated with a 15,000 lifelong lifespan. It's a PC rated unit. The product is made in the USA. It's Department of Transportation compliant.
When it comes to the measurements, we'll take a look at that real quick. Then we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with power running to it. Overall diameter is right around 2". The depth overall to the back of that plug housing measures about 7/8". If we measure from the front of the lens to the back of the lens, just that red portion there, we can see that that gives us a measurement of about 11/16".All right, we're going to go ahead and hook it up to power.
So we've got our two prong plug. It just fits right into the back of the unit there. So you can see here it sends out a really nice clear, consistent signal. Again, it contains one incandescent bulb. That's a 15,000 hour long life bulb, which is included, non-replaceable. Once again, this functions as a clearance light, and a side marker light for your trailer. That's going to do it for today's look at the Peterson clearance and side marker light.
