Video Transcript for Custer LED Interior Trailer Dome Light with Chrome Bezel Review and Installation

What is going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Custer Interior LED Dome Light. What we have here is an LED dome light. It's not gonna be that big, about three inches in diameter, and we have one, two, three, four diodes on the inside. It is LED and is hardwired so there isn't any on or off switch. It has a nice chrome bezel as well.

It's gonna be for your 12-volt DC systems, whether it's in your RV, your camper, or your enclosed trailer, you're gonna have to put 12-volt to this guy. Since it's LED, it's not gonna have a whole lot of draw. I highly recommend replacing all your incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs just because why not They last longer, and they use less energy. It just seems like a no-brainer for me. And I like this just because it puts out a lot of light.

So we could have a small light, that's gonna put out more than an incandescent light will, and those usually tend to be a little bit bigger just because those bulbs are pretty bulky. So I definitely recommend this if you're looking for something that's really low-profile and sleek. It only sits up off the wall about 1/2 an inch, which isn't a whole lot. I like the looks of it, and I like the chrome-beveled edge as well. I would definitely recommend this if you have maybe a more fancy interior on your RV camper or if you have a nice enclosed trailer and you're looking for a bright light with a good look.

I think this is gonna be really great for you. Didn't take a whole lot of time to install, so if you stick around, we're gonna show you how we did it. First things first, we wanna figure out exactly where we want the light to go. I want to go right here, to replace the light that we took off. And if you have wires ran already, awesome.

We don't have to do that step but if you don't, run some wires, we're gonna need a positive, and a negative. So now that that's done, take the bezel off, you can just clip it off with your hand and set that to the side, we will use that later on. But now, we can go ahead and take our wires, and we definitely want to go ahead and test them, and make sure that positive is positive, negative is negative. A lot of the times the colors are not gonna sync up, always match your wires by function, and not by color. Made that mistake way too many times, so putting the time now to test so you don't have to redo and waste some time. Now, what we wanna do is we're gonna take our heat shrink butt connectors, if you don't have any, we do, you can go ahead and add them to your cart, so you have what you need to get the job done whenever your parts arrive. So I'm just gonna go ahead and crimp one down, I like to do this because it's kinda difficult to put both wires in and keep them in place. So this way, we can make sure we get a clean connection. We don't want these coming loose especially since they're going in the wall. That would be a pain having to fish those back out. So now that I have that one done, same exact deal with this one. Just like that. And them crimp them down. We do wanna make sure these are nice and tight. Just to make sure that they're not gonna go anywhere. And now that that's done, I already went ahead and tested these wires, and ends up being red as the negative. So that's just a perfect example, 'cause that's exactly the opposite of what I thought. But, it's just what it is. You can go ahead and crimp this down, just like that. Pretty simple stuff. Takes a little bit of arm strength. Tug, we're good. And for our last and final wire. This is probably the most time consuming part of it, because the rest is fairly simple and easy. And these heat shrink butt connectors, I really like using these, I do a lot of wiring, and one, it just helps keep the wires in place, but two, it's gonna keep all that moisture out so it's not gonna corrode away. And all you need is a heat gun, or if you don't have a heat gun, you can use a hair dryer or something like that, it'll just take a little bit longer. Yeah it's nice and snug around that wire. So no water is getting in there. And even if you crimp them down, not the best, it's gonna help hold those wires in place too, which is always awesome. Just ensuring you have proper connection and the wires aren't gonna come apart, it's just gonna save you a lot of headache in the future. And just like that, we are done. So now what I'm gonna do is, kinda push some of this back, not all of it, and I just wanna make sure that it's gonna light up. It doesn't have a button or anything so I'm just gonna go ahead and flip the switch to see if it's gonna light up, I'm just gonna hang it. So moment of truth, there we go, awesome. So now we're ready to mount it up. Hardware is included with the kit, which is awesome, you don't see that all the time. So you don't have to search around for some proper screws. All you really need is a bit. And I'm gonna utilize one of these holes that I've already made, just because we installed a lot of lights in this trailer. You don't wanna go too tight, 'cause you don't wanna crack that plastic, but just tight enough to where it's nice and flush. Just like that, perfect. Now last step, the most satisfying step, you can just go ahead and push this in, and it should click into place. We have these little tabs here, so this one's gonna go on top. There we go, perfect. And that'll do it for our look at the Custer LED Interior Dome Light, and I'm Adam with etrailer..

The dome light works great! No hitches or failures. I have it wired to a mini switch in my tear trailer. Darn nice, in the middle of the night.
