Great hitch! Been using this quite a bit. Install wasn’t too bad, drilled the holes and mounted as required. Hauled a 16’ flat trailer load of firewood for about 70 miles numerous times. I’ve also hauled a 6x10 enclosed trailer packed full of sound equipment hundreds of miles. Have also hauled just over a ton of scrap a handful of times. Very robust hitch that has given me zero problems.

I am very satisfied with the quality of the product. Very well made, all hardware was included, and instructions were simple. Would recommend an extra set of hands, heavy and awkward to install on your own. I also had a really great experience purchasing through etrailer which was expected. I have ordered through them before and I have ordered again since buying this hitch. Fast delivery.

by:
1996 Ford F-250 and F-350

Package came box beat all to hell poor packaging and was bent pretty significantly on the left side mounting plate will probably have to use a jack to get straight no installation instructions the hitch was just put in the box not secured in any way

I am sorry that this hitch arrived in this condition. It is common for hitches to arrive slightly bent. They are made from mild steel, so that the mounting brackets may flex while in use. This could also cause the brackets to flex during shipping. I have a link below with detailed instructions on how to bend the brackets back in place.

by:
1993 Ford F-150

Worked perfectly, came with all hardware and very clear instructions. My only advise is have a set of very good drill bits. My 2nd hitch purchase from etrailer, and both times went great.

by:

Only giving 4 stars do to shipping issues. No fault to Etrailer. The hitch arived with a few days as all their products do. Box was highly damaged but the hitch was unscathed. Altho there was no hardware in the box so i will have to sorce these as im sure they fell out do to all the holse in the box. Therefore inhave not installed yet but I did put it under the truck and it appears it will line up properly and only need to drill the 4 holes that are stated in the instal video on product page.

by:
1994 Ford F-250 and F-350

Ordered this receiver hitch and got it in two or three days. Easy to install using my floor jack to raise it in place on my 1994 F-250. For some reason the previous owner had put a class 3 hitch on. Love the hitch and the quick delivery. etrailer has always been my go to shopping

by:
1996 Ford F-250 and F-350

With my bumper in the upper position on the brackets this hitch cleared. I was most worried about this as my drw truck has a clearance light below the tailgate. This hitch installed easily as per instructions.
Made in the USA quality!! Thank you very much!!

by:
1998 DodgeRam Pickup

Hitch is fine, but the instructions for the Dodge pickups are wrong. instructions were poor and had you drill out your frame instead of utilizing the existing holes and aligning the rivets in the frame with the other hole. you do not have to drill any new holes, only enlarge 2 existing holes and everything lines up great.

by:
1996 Ford F-150

Solid hitch but horrible packaging. Entire powder coated finish garbage. etrailer’s solution? $[XX] off or they can send you spray paint, cheap $[XX} Lowe’s spray paint. I should have taken the $[XX]

Fast delivery and straightforward insta llation.

I installed this hitch on a 1991 Dodge W250. It hangs down lower than it needs to for the factory bumper and required drilling the frame to install the hitch. Drilling the frame and the overall installation went well, however there are existing holes that could've been used had the hitch been designed differently. I do understand this hitch is designed for several applications and in that situation it is difficult to make every vehicle a perfect fit. This hitch is very stout, I like the one piece design and the load rating. I have a 14,000 gvw flatbed that I haul a variety of junk on and this hitch is definitely up for the job. The next time I need a hitch I will definitely consider this one.

Still works great after several thousand miles of hauling heavy junk!

I ordered the Curt trailer hitch receiver and also another kit that I thought we needed to install it. They called me and told me the kit I ordered was in the trailer hitch already. It saved me money for them to call and let me know. I really appreciated the info and that I didn't need it.

1992 DodgeRam Pickup

Thank you etrailer! I received my hitch right away and the box was in good condition. I installed the hitch and it looks great. I bought this hitch for the increased tongue capacity over my old hitch.

My hitch is still working great. The finish is holding up great also.

by:
1999DodgeRam Pickup

Installed on 99 Ram 2500 4x4 long bed. Install took 4+ hrs. Had to torch off the old bolts. Had to drill new holes for 1 set of bolts. The safety chain loops are so thick that it is difficult to get my breakaway switch carabiner on.
All in all, super heavy duty, it fit with spare tire and 4” exhaust. Just properly block it up. I didn’t the first time, and it fell on my face.

Has not arrived yet but wants me to leave a review. The other item box 2 of 2 has arrived.

by:
1993 DodgeRam Pickup

I put this on our 1993 Dodge dually after I noticed what looked like stress fractures on the old hitch while I was having an exhaust leak repaired. The failure was probably caused by an overloaded dump trailer full of gravel. The price for this Class V hitch from etrailer couldn’t be beat so I bought it. I’ve since pulled serveral large loads with my 3400lb dump trailer, the heaviest being a load of gravel weighing 5.67 tons according to the bill. More than 1000lbs shy of the 16000lb limit and it pulled great, even at over 60 mph. This hitch is heavy and well made. I use a forged ball mount with square tube clamp attached to make the assembly rigid. You’ll be amazed at how much this will quiten all of your towing. I feel like I got a great deal from etrailer on this hitch and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again if we get another truck.

1983 Ford F-100, F-150, F-250, F-350

Price is good, the shipping was fast and the quality is outstanding. The installation required some drilling but overall was not bad. I will refer anyone to this site.
Thanks

2013 Ford Ranger

The hitch is extremely heavy duty and I highly recommend this product. Etrailer has great customer service, I received the hitch a day before the expected arrival date. I installed this on my 1977 Ford F-150 Ranger with the help of my 13 yr old grandson. This receiver hitch fit my truck perfectly, no modifications were needed. We removed the spare tire, drilled the holes and mounted the hitch per the instructions. The entire process took a little over an hour. I use a Shocker Hitch with an airbag, and it fits this hitch perfectly. I highly recommend Etrailer.

by:
1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Heavy Duty

Very happy with the product. Was able to install by myself in a little over an hour, fit like a glove and has performed flawlessly with the loads of firewood I've been hauling. Shipping was fast, and the overall experience with etrailer was absolutely fantastic. Etrailer was one of the only websites that had an accurate description of the frame width/depth dimensions that made ordering the right hitch a breeze. Would recommend Etrailer to anyone in the market for Heavy Duty/Standard Duty Receiver Hitches, and all other trailer needs. Thanks for the great product and will be hauling with this hitch for some time. Have a Blessed day

88 bronco. Hitch fit great. I needed to grind a few spots but nothing more that 1/2 inch.

by:
1996 Chevrolet Cobalt

One extremely tough hitch. I have a 1996 Ford F250, the body shop thought it wouldn't work. I got it home and with a lot of grunting and drilling (use a new cobalt bit), I was able to bolt it, one side at a time. When drilling, use some cutting oil that's used for black iron pipe (Oatey, found in plumbing will work).

To make sure your carriage bolt plate will seat flat, make sure to drill as close inward toward the center of your vehicle as you can, allowing yourself enough metal as is reasonable. Thanks etrailer for the expedited shipping and great phone help. I've attached some pics for those who want to see what it looks like installed.

by:
1989 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350

I'm pleased with my purchase. I wanted the highest capacity for my 1988 F350 4WD Crew Cab, that I could find. This one at the time I selected it, had the second highest towing, distributed-towing, and tongue weight rating of all of them (that would fit my truck). There was a really nice Torklift that had double (stacked) 2x2 receivers with the best rating, but it was significantly more expensive, and the Curt I got matches my truck's max tow rating. I didn't set out to get the welded one-piece unit, but it just turned out that way. Having seen it in person, and installed it, if someone has a similar truck, I'd have no problem recommending. It's a heavy heavy unit, that will last the lifetime of the truck.

by:
Ford F-150

Very happy with the service and the products. My Ford F-150 pulls a big trailer, with a lot of equipment weight, so the hitch and accessories have to be heavy-duty.

I had a couple of questions, and they were answered within a reasonable amount of time, and I was able to order the correct parts.

The order arrived in record time. Everything fit as advertised. I've got a rock-solid trailer hitch now, that's up to the task.

eTrailer.com has my full recommendation.

Good quality receiver. Required a lot of alternations to make fit. I repeat did not come anywhere close to fitting following the install instructions for a 97 F-350.

The 2 Curt hitches you referenced are not a fit for a 1995 Ford F-150. • What Capacity Truck Should I Purchase
The short and sweet answer is to choose a truck that has a towing capacity greater than that of the heaviest trailer you plan on towing. This being said, determining the ultimate towing capacity of a truck can be tricky, because there are many variables that can affect what the bottom-line towing capacity of a truck is. These variables include engine size, transmission, axle ratio, whether the truck is 2WD or 4WD, the cab configuration and even the bed length can have an effect as well....

  • Can I Pull a 6900-lbs Trailer with my 2008 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab with Short Bed
I'll start off by saying that the weights that you're seeing are the maximum capacities and not their actual weights, so you've got some room to work with. The GVWR is going to be the total weight that the truck can support with passengers and cargo (it factors in 150-lbs for the driver of the vehicle already)- your curb weight is going to be less than that, which is why when you're adding everything up it appears to be over. The good news is that the curb weight of the truck looks to be...
