Mine arrived with no hardware kit or instructions. I called etrailer and they sent the hardware kit asap. This Curt class IV trailer hitch worked great for our 2005 ford f150 flareside. It recommends to remove the rear exhaust hanger for easier installation. This was unnecessary for our truck. I would recommend removing the spare tire. The access hole to route the wire is on the outside of the frame above the leaf spring NOT the inside. It was a very simple install. I would reccomend this this hitch and Etrailer to anyone.

Best trailer parts company by far. This is my second order and received my hitch receiver in two days, three days sooner than it was supposed to be delivered. Thank you very much.

by:
2005 Ford F-150

I would have given 5 stars but my receiver was delivered without a box and missing the hardware. It had a piece of box with the shipping label wrapped around it with plastic wrap. The receiver was beat up and scratched in several places. I paid extra for the delivery only to find out it was incomplete when delivered. I called and was sent another set of hardware but I had to wait several days before receiving it.

This receiver fit perfectly. Installed it by myself but it took longer than I expected. When fishing bolts through I would suggest doing the ones further from the access hole first. The wire would get caught up and I had to keep cutting pieces off before starting the next bolt. I would recommend picking it up all at once as level as possible. I loosened the exhaust pipe but I don’t think it needed to be done. This piece is one solid heavy piece. Looks good on the truck. I don’t have all the proper tools and decided to go with this model instead of the others where you would have to drill holes in the frame. There is no drilling required with this one. I love the way it looks on the truck. The bolts are big and heavy. Not cheap in any way.

by:
2005 Ford F-150

Installed super easy, all I did was bolted on the chain holes first and that held the hitch onto the truck and then I just swung the hitch up and held it up with a jack and a block.

by:

The hitch is really solid. I am pleased with the construction. I struggled with installation. Looking back, a second person would have made it much easier. 3 out of four holes aligned well. The fourth one had to be drilled a bit. Overall, I think it’s a great product that will allow me to pull a trailer to haul materials for home/yard projects. Thanks, J.R.

It is a solid hitch. Highly recommend it.

Received a hitch that was only wrapped in cheap plastic, no box. Hitch waa scratched up and did not come with any mounting hardware. Waste of my time and money.

I am very sorry to hear that the hitch arrived without hardware and with scratches. This is certainly not who we want the hitches to arrive. I will have our customer service team reach out.

I was surprised how quickly the hitch was delivered, the price, service and quality of the Receiver Hitch is outstanding. Thank you

Very pleased with my purchase, installed without any problems. Ive been towing around a 18 foot trailer, not once have I worried about the tow.

by:

Fitment was spot on. Have pulled my TT many times and no issues.

by:

Very nice hitch .
Well constructed.
Easy
installation.
Only dislike as with other common hitches is the area were the chains attach. Once locking pin is installed, trying to fit size 3 and 4 hooks is a challenge.
A little more room would be nice or different angle for hooks to attach.

by:
2004 Ford F-150

The hitch itself is awesome. I took my 04 f150 to a garage to have it installed. They said that if they did the bumper would have to be removed as it would not fit with the new hitch in place. The project is currently on hold.

by:

The trailer hitch was good it was a little banged up because of shipping maybe you can package the hitch inside the box with more phone so it doesn't bounce around other than that went on the truck perfect

by:
Ford F-150

2004 Ford exdcab Lariat F-150 4X4 After some modifications to factory old hitch & bumper. This hitch fit perfectly & bumper is on truck. Can’t tell from new factory one.

by:
2004 Ford F-150

This is a solid, well made hitch, I love it. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was shipped in a box with no support, box was totally destroyed during shipping as the hitch was just moving freely inside and half the screws were missing.

by:
2004 Ford F-150

I installed it in about 45 min. everything fit as it was supposed to. The wiring is true plug and play and everything worked the first time as it should. The trailer brake made it possible to pull a 9400 lb. loader with this truck.

by:
2005 Ford F-150

Fits my 2005 Ford F-150 perfect. Doesn't hang low. Not past bumper. No need to drop exhaust pipe. But do drop the spare tire. No drilling. A little patience and your done. Very strong high tow weight rating.

by:
2005 Ford F-150

On time delivery and received all items as advertised. Only wish it came with two spring fish wires as the one that came with it broke with one bolt left to be installed. A small hole in bolt and a piece of wire and the last bolt was installed.

by:

Perfect fit

by:
2005 Ford F-150

Easy to install and does the job. Would definitely recommend.

by:

Perfect fit the first time and best price I could find.

by:
2004 Ford F-150

Replaced the stock hitch on my 2004 f150 perfectly.

by:

Very heavy hitch, took longer to install than stated, but a good quality part. Definitely like it better than the multi piece units from other makers

Super fast shipping, love the product

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Ford F-150 To Use Trucks Max Towing Capacity
Your best option would be to go with a trailer hitch that is rated for more weight than what you truck can tow so that you can tow as much as the truck would let you. For that the Curt hitch part # C14357 that you referenced would be a great option confirmed to fit your 2005 Ford F-150. Like you said, this hitch has a capacity of 10,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs. With towing setups you are limited by the lowest rated component in the setup. So if your truck is rated...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2005 Ford F-150 FX4
For your 2005 Ford F-150 FX4 that only has the bumper hitch I recommend Draw-Tite Class II trailer hitch # 41549. It is rated for 600 pounds tongue weight and 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight. When used with weight distribution it is rated for 1,000 pounds tongue weight and 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight (limited to the capacity of the vehicle). I have linked the installation instructions for you. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount with a...

  • Comparing Curt Trailer Hitches # C14355 and # C14357 for a 2004 Ford F-150
The difference between Curt trailer hitches # C14355 and # C14357 is the fit list for each. Curt hitch # C14355 fits a 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition and not the New Body 2004 models. Hitch # C14357 fits the New Body style, not the Heritage, but will not fit any models that have the factory trailer hitch. If you have a 2004 New Body style then there are no hitches confirmed to fit on models that have the factory hitch.

  • Hitch To Replace Factory Hitch On 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat
The factory hitches are often welded on, so you would need to have the hitch cut off if that is the case to have a replacement. All of the aftermarket hitches from all our manufacturers say will not work with factory mounted hitch, so a hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # C14357 most likely mounts in the same location which makes sense since you are looking to replace and not add an additional hitch to the existing one. Because it hasn't been fitted...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver C14360 Fit a 2005 Ford F-150
The # C14360 is for the 2006-2008 Ford F-150 without the factory receiver. For a Class IV hitch that is confirmed to fit your 2005 Ford F-150 I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14357. This hitch has a 2" receiver with a maximum gross trailer weight of 10,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1,000 lbs. just like the # C14360. Keep in mind, if you have a factory hitch installed this will not fit your truck. If you plan on doing some towing and don't have wiring, I recommend the Curt...

  • Fit & Compatibility of Aftermarket Trailer Hitch #C14357 on 2004 Ford F-150 w/Factory Trailer Hitch
I spoke to my contact at Curt and he informed me that the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch # C14357 would indeed fit for a 2004 Ford F-150 excluding the Heritage Edition if the factory hitch was removed as long as no portion of the frame or bumper beam is removed in the process of removing the factory hitch. I have linked the above mentioned product to this page for your convenience.

  • 2005 Ford F150 XL Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Towing Trailer with Tractor Loaded
Most likely not. The Curt Bumper Hitch part # E-3S does have a 5,000 lb capacity, but most bumpers do not have anywhere near that capacity. Instead you would need a frame mounted trailer hitch with a higher capacity like the Curt part # C14357. This has a 10k trailer weight rating so as long as your truck has the towing capacity for the tractor and trailer you want to tow (check owner's manual), this hitch would work well for you. For a HD all mount you would want the part # C45341 and...

  • Troubleshooting Curt Hitch Too Wide for 2004 Ford F-150
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14357 is confirmed to fit all models of the 2004 Ford F-150 unless you have a factory hitch installed. What likely happened is that the hitch flexed during shipping. This isn't uncommon since the brackets are designed to allow the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. The good news is you can bend it back. Start by inspecting the hitch to make sure you don't see any cracks or chipped paint. These are signs that the hitch may have flexed enough...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2004 Ford F-150 Towing 5,500 lbs
Hi! Although we do not carry the hitch you referenced based on my research it looks like it has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs so you will not want to use it to tow your horse trailer and horses that are 5,500+ lbs. It is unsafe to use a hitch that does not have the correct towing capacity. There are a couple of better options for trailer hitches that I highly recommend checking out. Since your truck does not have a factory hitch, and you need to tow a heavy 7,000 lb trailer, the hitch that will fit and has the needed capacity is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14357. The photo of your F-150's door jamb sticker indicates a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 6800-lbs. This is the most the truck itself can weigh, including passenger, cargo weight and trailer tongue weight. Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13352 will fit your 2004 Ford F-150 STX as is confirmed to work on all models that have the new body that did not include the factory hitch. This hitch will require drilling new holes into your frame on your f-150. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14357 as it will not require drilling or welding on your f-150. It will instead utilize the factory holes that are already in your frame to mount the hitch. This is also a Class IV hitch...

I recommend finding what yours is and looking in your owner's manual, which will have these capacities. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14357 is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Ford F-150 but will not fit with the factory installed hitch. You will need to remove the factory hitch to install an aftermarket hitch like this. This is the strongest hitch option, so it is my recommendation for your application. It is an easy installation and has a nice black powder coat finish to resist rust. This hitch will work very well as long as the rust has not compromised the truck frame.
