Will the hitch 14357 work if the factory hitch is removed?

I spoke to my contact at Curt and he informed me that the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch # C14357 would indeed fit for a 2004 Ford F-150 excluding the Heritage Edition if the factory hitch was removed as long as no portion of the frame or bumper beam is removed in the process of removing the factory hitch.

I have linked the above mentioned product to this page for your convenience.

The factory hitch for this truck is essentially built into the bumper frame - so it's just not the ideal application. As Jackie mentioned above, it's technically possible, but you would need to be extra careful when removing the factory hitch.

@ChrisR I did work today removed. Stating this for people’s info & have one question at end.I have a 04 F150 lariat super cab w/factory hitch. It’s rusted so bad need replacing. I took of hitch Not welded. But it is attached to bumper with small bolts. Problem is if you take hitch bumper comes with it after unplugging all back up senors, lic. Plate lights, & trailer plugs 7 & flat four. Soooo I cut hitch out between the back end frame mounts. I remounted bumper attached to brackets on Whats left and attached to bumper. Looks like a bumper now with now hitch. Now question, now that factory hitch is removed. Does the Curt custom hitch still fit & Clear everything/bumper below? ? Want to put hitch back on.

@ChrisR Just wrote about the factory hitch removal. I can send pictures what it looks like now with bumper reattached with center of hitch cut out so bumper could be reattached if you want. Just don’t want to order the curt custom hitch if not going to fit. Thanks
