The hitch arrived early and in good shape. However, like most other reviews I have read, the bolts used to secure the hitch to the rear step-bumper are the incorrect length. Why does Curt continue to sell this item with incorrect hardware

I did reach out to Curt to let them know about the bolts.

The bolts that go through the bumper and hitch are too short

To be honest this is not the first time I have heard this. The bolts that you should have received would be 2.5 inches long. Would you be able to send a picture? I will reach out to the manufacturer about it.

Easy to install. Looks great on the truck. The 2 bolts for the tailgate should be 1/4” longer, there was barely enough threads showing to tighten down. After torquing to 110 lbs the nuts were not Completely on the bolts. We will see how it tows.

It seems to be good quality but the bolts for the bumper are too short by 3/4 inch. Those that came with it are the wrong size.( I need to go find some bolts that will fit… ). So, otherwise a good product and super quick service and delivery.

Order by phone with Victoria, easy to order, Trailer hitch arrived in less than a week, hardware all complete...
Thank you!

Went on perfectly. Took a little wrangling just because of its size. I've been using it quite a bit with no complaints. Good solid piece.

Went on well and like others have said, a little bit of wrangling but pretty simple install and works great

by:

Item is awesome damaged a little in shipping but able to bend back with a couple hits with hammer and some touch up paint.

Product arrived in a ripped up box and scratched. I have no time to wait for another so I'm stuck with it. Your freight company holds the keys to your success.
You would have gotten a 5 star rating. I have another order pending, sure hope it arrives in better shape.

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • 2000 Toyota Tundra Hitch Replacement and Towing Capacity
I looked up the towing capacity for the 2000 Toyota Tundra and it ranges between 4,950 to 7,200 lbs (please confirm with your owners manual). If you are looking for a hitch that includes the bolts and no drilling required for installation, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13180 if your Tundra excludes the factory towable bumper. If you have the factory towable bumper I recommend # 75105. However if the truck maxes out at 7,200 pounds, in this towing scenario, you will be limited...

  • Highest Rated Trailer Hitch that Fits 2004 Toyota Tundra
The hitch we offer for a 2004 Toyota Tundra that has the highest towing capacities is the Curt # C13180 which can tow a trailer up to 6,000 lbs. It is a Class III but it's a higher rated Class III hitch.

  • Replacement Trailer Hitch for 2006 Toyota Tundra
The trailer hitch that fits to the frame of your 2006 Toyota Tundra with the least amount of drilling is part # C13180. This only has 6 mounting bolt holes. The Curt hitch is a confirmed fit if you do not have the factory towable bumper. If you have the factory towable bumper then you want part # 13184 instead I have linked some instructions for each trailer hitch that you can look at as well. Please note that these are custom fit so they are compatible with the OEM frame of your Tundra.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2006 Toyota Tundra
For your 2006 Toyota Tundra, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13180. This is a square tube design with a black powder coat finish over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. This is a no drill installation. For your wiring, I recommend the 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit - Includes Tester # C59496. This will give you a 4 way flat connection. Then you will need to get the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brakes # ETBC7....

  • Recommendation to Replace Factory Trailer Hitch on a 2003 Toyota Tundra
All of the trailer hitches we have for your 2003 Toyota Tundra mount directly to the frame and don't use the brackets that the factory hitch and bumper use. So for your application I recommend replacing your OEM bumper with the Sport bumper since it doesn't use the special brackets. Then you can install the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13180 which mounts directly to the frame of your truck. I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it does give you a way to have a secured bumper...

  • Will The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver C13180 Replace the Factory Receiver If Swapping Rear Bumpers?
You will be able to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13180 on your 2003 Toyota Tundra but it will involve removal and replacement of the rear bumper. You will have to source the correct rear bumper and its mounting hardware to be able to mount the Curt.

  • Bolt Hole Spacing of Curt C13180 Class III Hitch
I cannot find any reference to the part numbers you provided online. The Curt # C13180 Class III receiver hitch is a confirmed fit for the 2000-2006 Toyota Tundra. If you're needing the bolt hole spacing of the # C13180 that you'd looked at, I've provided a photo showing the bolt hole spacing. The dimensions shown are measured center to center. If you aren't speaking of a trailer hitch, let me know.

  • Replacement Trailer Hitch for 2006 Toyota Tundra w/ Factory Hitch
The 2006 Tundra could have been equipped with the 'Factory' hitch two different ways. If it was a dealer installed option, it would simply bolt to the frame members but if it arrived from the factory with the hitch, the hitch is tied into the bumper mounting brackets and the bumper would need to be replaced to remove the existing hitch. Since you've already replaced the bumper, you'll be able to install the # 13184, which Curt has confirmed for me. For a wiring harness, you'll need #...

  • In Need Of A 2-5/16" Hitch Ball For A 2006 Toyota Tundra
I can certainly point you in the right direction. Firstly, we suggest checking your owners manual and verifying that you can tow 6,000 lbs with your truck. If it is able to tow 6K or more then we can set you up. If you do not have a factory hitch, you can use the Curt class 3 hitch # C13180. This hitch can tow up to 6,000 lbs, so just enough for your horse trailer. As far as a ball mount and 2-5/16" ball I recommend using an adjustable ball mount like the bulletproof hitch # MD206. This...

  • 2001 Toyota Tundra Trailer Hitch and Weight Distribution System Recommendation
I have a better hitch solution that will fit regardless of your bumper style. The Draw Tite part # 75105 fits the 2001 Toyota Tundra whether it has the factory towable bumper or not so it would be a great choice. The towable bumper is one that has a ball hole in it for a hitch ball to mount in. For a weight distribution system that would work well with the capacities of this hitch and the weight of the trailer you listed the Strait Line part # RP66083 would be what you want. It has a tongue...

  • Is There a Bolt On, No Drill Receiver For a 2002 Toyota Tundra With Factory Towable Bumper?
With your 2002 Toyota Tundra having the towable bumper you would have to replace it with a standard bumper found on models without a receiver or towing bumper. This would then allow you to install a no drill receiver like the Curt # C13180. We do not have a receiver compatible with the towing bumper but you may be able to have one fabricated at a local fabrication shop.

  • Where Do Safety Chains Attach on Curt Trailer Hitch # C13180
The safety chain holes are well hidden on Curt trailer hitch # C13180. There is a part of the hitch above the receiver that attaches to the vehicle bumper. The holes are in that plate. I have included a picture pointing them out.
