Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 4 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. Insert a bike rack or cargo carrier. Mount a spare tire carrier. Use a tow bar to flat tow your vehicle. Or just add a fun hitch cover.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Adjustable Two Ball Mount - 325-GH-224

Hello every body, this is Jeff Fetty etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Gen-Y Adjustable 2-ball Mount with a Pintle lock. Has a 5 inch drop or 5 inch rise. And it's for 2 inch Hitches. And it has a 16,000 pound gross towing rate capacity. Now, this is an Adjustable Ball mount.

That would let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The solid Shank portion right here is what will slide into your 2 inch hitch receiver on your vehicle. And then you will have your choice of either a 2 inch diameter ball or the larger 2-5/16 diameter ball which will provide a connection point for your trailer coupler. What's nice with this part is they actually include this Pintle lock accessory. And this is used when it is paired with larger 2-5/16 diameter ball.

This will provide a nice connection point for a lunette ring coupler on your trailer. If you are not familiar with the lunette ring couplers a lot of the heavy duty trailers use a large lunette ring, which is just a round ring. That's on the front of the trailer for connection and that ring will drop over the ball and they keep it from coming off the ball. You can use this Pintle lock which they include. And the way you use that, let me just show you.

We will take our clip out, take our pin out and then you can see we'll slide that back out of the way. And then what you'll do is go ahead and hook the hook up to your lunette ring coupler. You'll just drop it over here. Once it's dropped over there then what you will do, is go ahead and just slide this over the Laurent ring itself. Once you get that slid over there, line your hole up put your pin back through, go ahead and clip it in place.

And just like that, it'll lock that plate over the lunette ring to keep it from coming detached. So it's a nice accessory to have. Now, if you're not gonna use it all that much on a Laurent ring couple, which you can do. You can remove it totally if you want, but if you wanna leave it handy, there's a second hole that you can just slide all the way back, put the pin through and then it will hold it in the closed position and out of the way, so then you can use this for a regular trailer coupler. You see on the front, it has the four stack 2 inches receivers that will accept the included Ball Mount and this Pintle lock accessory, as well as other hitch mounted accessories, comes with the 2-5/8 inch diameter stainless steel pins and clips. Those are included to secure the ball Mount to the Shank and the Pintle lock accessory to the Shank. The next thing I do wanna mention is on these clips. They are really nice, they normal clips and pins. They will just be straight. And when you try to put them in sometimes they are hard to get pushed in or hard to remove but with these it's pretty nice. They have a twist design. You can see one of the ends is bent. So to get it off, all you have to do is twist it and it comes right out. And then you can slide your pin out. When you go to install it, all you have to do is put it in there to like that, push it. And then as you push it forward it'll twist on and lock into place. So this clip is really nice to use because it's simple. You can see it will give you adjustable Heights. This will let you tow trailers of different Heights with the same vehicle. Works well if you have a lifted truck. Basically this ball mount here can be lowered or raised to match your application. Now they give you a maximum drop. In other words, if you install it like this and then you put your ball mount in the lowest receiver down here that maximum drop will be 5 inches. If you flip this over 180 degrees and put it in the maximum rise position, and then put your ball on in the highest receiver and operating at the rise position it'll get your maximum rise of 5 inches. Just to show you how to adjust that again take your clip off, take your pin off and then your ball mount. You can just slide it right out, just like that. And then if you wanna flip it over a 180 degrees to use the smaller 2 inch ball, you can do that. Or you can also put it up or down in whatever receiver size you need for your application. Once you choose the right one, just line your hole up put your pin all the way through. And then again use the twist clip to clip it right into place. You are ready to go. This is a heavy duty steel construction. They do use a zinc primer and then they coat it with a durable silver vein epoxy powder coat, to resist corrosion. Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver you can see the two hitch pin holes here. You do have to secure with either a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock. Those are not included. We do sell them separately on our website. The size of these hitch pit holes is 5/8 of an inch. This is SAEJ684 certified. It is made in the USA. Application again, fits 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. Now the capacity of this will just depend on the size ball you use. So if you use the smaller 2 inch diameter ball gross towing, weight capacity, 12,000 pounds maximum tongue weight of 1500 pounds. If you switch it around and use the larger 2-5/16 ball, that will get you a gross towing weight of 16,000 pounds, maximum tongue weight of 2000 pounds. And then one last thing I do would've mentioned is this ball Mount does have many different dimensions to it. So what I would recommend is for you to go to our product page for this part number and we'll have this Shank displayed and it will have all the dimensions put on it. So that we can verify any dimension that may be needed for your application. But that should do it for the review on the gen Y adjustable, 2 ball Mount with the pintle lock, has a 5 inch drop or 5 inch rise for a 2 inch hitch and has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

Insert this heavy-duty mount into your 2" hitch to get 4 stacked 2" receivers for mounting the included 2" ball, 2-5/16" ball, pintle hook, or other hitch-mounted accessory.

Heavy duty, strong and reliable. The black color on the ball scratched off fairly quickly, and the additional length of the hitch may keep some safety chains from reaching the vehicle. These are just things I noticed, but the quality of the hitch is tremendous.

Tow hitch is 100% expensive but towing my trailers has been so smooth it’s defiantly good quality and worth what you pay , defiantly recommend buying a $10-$20 lock so nobody steals it off your truck though!

by:

So far it’s worked great. I have several different style trailers I pull daily and it’s great that I don’t have to change out hitches every time I have to pull a different trailer.

by:

awesome product we own about 5 of these hitch's.

by:

This Hitch is Built to last!! I’m excited to put it to work and have a peace of mind that I have the best of the best!

by:

Gives one a choice of hitch heights. Owning multiple trailers that you tow almost makes this a “must have”. Glad i purchased it

by:

Received the receiver, box could have used 3m tape all around edges to keep box intact, but I like the receiver always fast service!!

by:

Very pleased .wish it would have came with 4 set screws .

by:

Well built hitch! This hitch is a beast and is better than expected. Great design, tough, operates beautifully. Highly recommend this for your towing needs.

I wanted to be able to tow any trailer with a single hitch and that is why I purchased this model. Any size ball and pintle hitch all in one implement is great.... the drawback, this thing weights a lot. I don't like leaving the hitch on the truck if I'm not towing, but this thing is too heavy to move and I'm worried about this much weight bending the toolbox on the truck if I hit a bump.

For measurement purposes... This is a 2000 F-350 4x4 on stock 16" rims and tires and a CM flatbed. I got the 5" drop\rise model and it looks like it is going to be great. In case i need it, I added the 1 7/8" ball to the drawbar. When I can afford to get three matched key pins I will order them.

by:

Overall the hitch is heavy duty and solid. I have ready some reviews about the Pintle option and have used mine for the first time towing an empty trailer. It is showing some wear behind the ball where the wedge is welded. I will try it with a load and see how it holds up.
i hate to give a negative review but for the money it should not have that excessive amount of wear with it’s first use.
I have a curt hitch with the Pintle and it has worked perfectly. I was looking for something that had a better curb appeal with the Gen Y.

by:

Just received my new hitch and my first impressions is that this is a very stout hitch. The hitch is very heavy, so I won’t be taking it off and on much. I’ll leave the stacked receiver on the truck, I had a locking pin to secure it to the truck. I will store the 2-ball mount in the cab for now until I get some locking pins. Don’t want to become a victim of theft! When I obtain the locking pins, I will leave the balls attached. If you want a very stout adjustable hitch, I definitely recommend this Gen-Y hitch. Can’t wait to test it out on the road!

by:

The best hitch you can buy! I run these in my company trucks. Makes connecting to anything we have simple and easy. No searching for lost hitches or figuring out who is using what.
