This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

Stabilizers Eliminate Wobble and Help Balance Your Load

stabilizers installed

Because this mount has such a significant drop, a stabilizer kit is included to prevent any wobble and to keep the mount stable and sturdy as you tow. Simply bolt or weld the brackets onto your truck's frame, and connect the stabilizer bars to the back of the Gen-Y mount. The stabilizer bars can easily be adjusted to span the distance between your vehicle's frame and the Gen-Y ball mount.

If you remove the mount from your hitch, the stabilizer bars can be disconnected from the brackets using the included pins and clips so that you can remove the bars from your vehicle as well.

Note: Because of how the stabilizers install on the ball mount, this mount should only be used in the drop position.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,600 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Adjustable Ball Mount - 325-GH-1524

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Gen-Y torsion two ball mount with stacked receivers. This is going to allow you to hook your trailer up to your tow vehicle and it is gonna provide up to a 15" drop. So it is more for your lifted trucks or trucks that are sitting up quite a bit to accommodate those lower trailers. Make sure everything's gonna be riding level. This will slide into your 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle.

Does not come with pin and a clip to secure it to your hitch, but it's just your standard 5/8" hitch pin holes here. So maybe you probably already have a 5/8" hitch pin to secure other accessories onto your hitch and that will still work with this, if you don't already have one, we do have them available here at etrailer.com. We also have locking pins available if you want to add a little extra security onto this but this will provide your 2" ball and your 2 5/16" ball or your ball paired with the pencil lock to provide the connection point for your different size trailer couplers and a lunette ring. This is a very heavy duty steel construction. Gen-Y has a great reputation for building very solid, robust products and this is no exception by any means.

Our 2" ball is going to have a gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds. Our 2 5/16" ball is going to have a 21,000 pound gross towing weight and a max tongue weight of 2,400 pounds. If you're using your 2 5/16" ball your optimum ride tongue weight is going to be between 1,600 pounds and 2,400 pounds. And the reason for that is because of our shock absorbent design. You want to have appropriate amount of weight so that it'll properly engage but not so much that it's gonna overtax the system.

And I'll get into how the shock absorbing design works here in a moment. But I do wanna point out they do include a tongue weight scale to help you make sure that you've got the appropriate amount of tongue weight on there. So you can see they've got a white painted line here and then a red and green sticker. So you wanna make sure that that white line is lined up with that green portion of that sticker and then you'll know that you're within that appropriate amount of tongue weight so that everything's gonna ride smoothly for you. And the reason for that is because this does function on a torsion type design.

If you're not familiar with like a torsion axle or something along those lines, I've got a cutaway here so you can kind of see how that's gonna work. So at our pivot points here, we've got these square bars with these rubber cords on each side. So as we experience shock and that pivot point moves, now that those rubber cords are going to help absorb that movement make sure it's nice and smooth for us. One of the nice things about that design is that there are fewer components that could go wrong and need to be replaced or repaired and there's no airbags that are gonna need to be aired up or have air let out depending on how your load. So it's just gonna function properly to help absorb that shock make it a much smoother, more enjoyable ride. Take some of the strain off your equipment. This does have the four stack receiver tubes. These are each 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" receiver tubes. So they are going to accept the included ball mount and pencil lock as well as your other hitch mounted accessories. They have the 5/8" diameter pin holes there and they do include two 5/8" diameter pins for you. So having that adjustable height is going to allow you to tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. So very simple to pull out the pin and raise this up or lower it to make sure that your trailer's gonna be level as you're towing. If we have this in the top receiver tube here from the top inside edge of our receiver tube on your hitch to the ball platform which is about where your coupler's gonna sit we're gonna have a minimum drop of 6". If we we're to lower this to the bottom receiver tube here the max drop would be that 15" that I mentioned earlier. So it's gonna give you quite a bit of adjustability there to make sure that your trailer you can accommodate trailers with different ride heights and keep them level because this does have such a significant drop, you can only use it in the drop position. You can't flip this over and use it in the rise position but because of that significant drop they do include the stabilizer kit to prevent any wobble and to make sure that the mount stays stable and sturdy for you. It's very simple to get this installed. The stabilizer kit, they will bolt or weld the brackets onto your truck's frame. Then you just connect the stabilizer bars between the brackets and your gin wide mount. These stabilizer bars can be adjusted from 24" out to 33" to span the distance between your vehicle's frame and the ball mount. They include these bars that you put in this place here and twist that's going to help extend them out or retract them down so that you can get that spacing set up properly. They have pins and clips here on the bars that are going to make it very easy for you to disconnect. So if you ever need to take your ball mount off, you can just pull out those pins and clips. Those brackets will stay mounted on your frame and then you can take the arm and the rest of the ball mount off and store it away so that you can still have your hitch accessible for other accessories. This does have a zinc primer and powder coat finish that's gonna help resist rust and corrosion. You can see our ball and our pencil lock as well as our stabilizer bars all have a matte black finish so they are gonna look really nice. They're on our vehicle. This does meet the SAE J684 standard so it is J684 certified and it is made here in the USA so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US so if you do have a lifted truck or just a taller truck and trailers that you're wanting to tow are quite a bit lower and this is going to be a great way to tow that. Those heavy trailers make sure that everything's gonna be right and stable and nice and smooth with that shock absorbing design. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

The order process was smooth. But, when trying to find out about the the lifetime warranty offered by Gen Y on the rubber components in the hitch Nicole could not answer my question.

I asked if I was able to purchase through you and if not could I purchase from Gen Y even though I bought the hitch from you.

This is something customer service should know the answer too.
You would have gotten five stars but it was ruined by lack of knowledge by your staff.

by:

anyways thus far it's a #5 I haven't really used it but I will sooner than later. Your hitch is on this bad boy!! Thank you for considering my 2020 Ford Velocity Blue F350 Lariat Special addition!!!

by:

Awesome hitch, the tongue weight scale is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen on a product with this price point- a sticker that was peeling up when I received it and a little white paint mark that wiped away when I used an alcohol wipe to clean it before covering with super glue to try and make it hold up past the first rain event. Come on Gen Y your engineers can surely come up with something better that will actually last for years. You got the hitch down, now just focus on the details.

First impression massive, heavy Built Stout. My truck is always hooked to a trailer so I figured I would try a nicer set up I was using the B&W which is great for the average Joe that just needs to pull a trailer every now and then but this is a whole new world first trailer I pulled with It I could feel the difference right away it was smoother the vibrations and harsh thump feelings that I would normally get when pulling the trailers when I hit rough roads or bumps was not as bad or gone. It definitely made a huge difference super easy to move height if needed and an added bonus I didn’t think of is that it pushes the trailer back further so you can get a little tighter turning when backing up if needed and i can open the tailgate and it won’t hit the jack on the trailer. On top of that when people see it it’s a conversation starter There are not many of these out there so they are intrigued by the size and how it works. Bottom line in my opinion if you’re towing all the time it is worth the investment. I would invest in another.

by:

It is a strong hitch. If you leave it in your receiver plan on it rusting even with the coating that it has on it. The coating on the ball with most cases need to be scraped off before your hitch will even fit over it so that will rust right away as they normally do. Was hoping the rest of it would look a little better after one year.

by:

Solid 6” drop hitch that is extremely heavy but well made. Very smooth with bigger loads. Required some modification to my Fab Four bumper for proper fit. I gave it four stars because my hitch didn’t have the set screw option as advertised.

03 Duramax 2500hd with six inch lift, 35” tires
16000lb Curtis receiver (well made five stars)

by:

Would definitely order parts from your company again...thank you

by:

Built like a brick s@%thouse. Works great! Keep in mind I use this for pulling same trailer loaded same way every day. I could figure out optimal hitch weight and keep it there

by:

Worth the money if you are pulling heavy loads.fit and finish it top quality.

by:

Quality product. Very Robust. I bought this hoping to dampen some of the shock my truck, which is about 15,000 lbs, transmits to my boat, which is about 8500 lbs, thinking it may help with the boat's longevity. It helps with big shocks for sure, but the hitch needs to be in the top 2/3rds of its rated capacity to noticeably dampen the shock between your trailer and tow rig. It works wonders on my loaded dump trailer.

by:

This thing is built like a tank. I have towed a few items that have been reasonably heavy (although not at 21,000lbs). I can say that it does a good job at limiting the aftershock of terrible roads that I have been on. It does a good job and is easily versatile to use with the adjustments available. The hitch should endure travels towing for quite a long time considering how well it is built.

by:

Best hitch ever... performs above and beyond as advertised. Will never use straight or drop hitch again. We pull our bobcat up the 4wd drive beaches of North Carolina which are often bumpy. This hitch separated the trailer movement from the truck. Well worth the money. Do it once and never do it again!

by:

Very nice, well built hitch, but the torsion part of it only works well when towing near the upper load limit of the hitch. Buy the same hitch without the torsion if you are not going to be pulling heavy loads near hitch capacity. You'll save lots!

by:

My brother and my son recommended this to me. I got to ride along with my son as he hauled a 10,000 lb. camper. Wow! I couldn’t believe the difference it made in the ride! The ride was so much smoother not to mention the wear and tear it saves on the tow vehicle! I’m impressed with the service from etrailer also. The package arrived in great condition, everything was there, and it even came a day earlier than expected! I highly recommend them!!!

by:

I received my torsion hitch as promised from etrailer. The hitch is built with quality
And very simple to install. I will be using it for the first time in a coupe of days.

by:

Great service. I made a mistake and ordered the wrong item. I was bummed there was a restocking fee but it was my mistake so I cant be to mad. They were very responsive on correcting the order. Hitch definitely seems super well built.

by:

Great hitch. Just makes my safety chains to short.

by:

Great product
Takes away the jerking
sensations of speed bumps and the occasional pothole.
When you do hit a bump at speed it takes a while for the flexing to settle back into a smooth ride. I equate the feeling like being in a boat. Now that I’m used to it it’s hardly noticeable.

by:

Excellent Quality, better driving while you with trailer and Made in USA.
I love it
Thanks to the company

by:

works great, heavy duty, good investment

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but this things a beast. For the manufacturer, you should put a couple of heavy stickers on it for the delivery guys, lol. Looks well built and can't wait to see how it acts with my camper.

by:

EASY AND SIMPLE PURCHASE THIS HITCH IS BADASS VERY STRONGLY BUILT

by:

Seems to be an impressive product. But even more impressed with the purchase experience. Great price, great freight policy, it was packed protectively and arrived way ahead of schedule. I’ll be looking for more products to buy from this etrailer.

by:

Solid product! etrailer sent this heavy item very quickly and I will look to do business with them again.

by:

Very Fast service, exactly what was ordered, will shop with these folks again

  • Gen-Y Torsion Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation for Lifted Truck with 2-1/2 inch Hitch
The Gen-Y Torsion adjustable ball mounts for 2-1/2 inch hitches are incredibly solid ball mount options. For a 6 inch lift on your truck you'd need one that can do a healthy amount of drop. But it really depends on how tall your trailer is going to be relative to the hitch height of the truck. We have options like the part # 325-GH-1325 which can do up to a 9 inch drop, the part # 325-GH-1326 which can do up to a 12 inch drop or the part # 325-GH-1524 which can do up to a 15 inch drop. • Could Gen-y Torsion 2 Ball Mount be Used with Car Hauler
Yes, the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1524 would work great with a car hauler that would be carrying 12k-14k like you referenced as it is rated for up to 21k. If you have a newer truck with a higher towing capacity a weight distribution system wouldn't necessarily be needed. Since WD systems have to be setup for the tongue weight of a trailer I don't like to recommend them for car haulers unless they are absolutely needed since the weight of the trailer will...
