Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Bauer Products Compression Latch for 2" Thick Ramped Doors, and it's in a nice matte black finish. Now, this is a heavy-duty compression latch that will replace or upgrade the latch on the ramp door of your enclosed trailer. What's nice about this latch, it gives you a 360-degree rotation of the shaft, and allows this latch to be used for either left-hand or right-hand applications. You can see when you open it, you can rotate it this way, and then just rotate, and enclose it this way if you like, so it'll work either way left hand, or right hand.It is a nice die-cast aluminum construction.

Very lightweight. Has a nice corrosion resistant black powder coat finish on it, and if you noticed you can see this little tab with the hole in it. When you do close your latch, you could put a padlock through there for additional security. Now, the lock cores on this can be keyed alike to match other Bauer Products RV locks, and the way you would do that is you go to the product page of this part number. In the top right-hand corner you'll see a dropdown menu, and it'll say Keyed Alike.

You can just click on that, and then underneath that you'll see a quantity box. You just enter the number of locks you need in that quantity box.Now, as you can see, it includes the key, and all the installation hardware for that. Again, if you go to lock this all you have to do is put your key in, turn it a quarter of a turn, take your key out, and that'll keep you from opening the handle. Again, if you want to put a padlock through there for extra security you can do that. Then to unlock it just go ahead and put your key in there, turn it a quarter of a turn, and that'll allow you to release it.Now, the application, again, this is designed to fit 2" thick ramp doors.

The shaft length on this, which would be measured from here to the end, is going to be right at 3 9/16" long. The overall dimension of the handle itself from this end to this end of the mounting plate is going to be right at 9 5/8" long. The total depth on it is going to be right at 2 1/8" deep. But again, just to show you, flip it open, push it to close, take your key, insert it, turn it, and it'll lock it into place.
