Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this Bauer Products compression latch. Now this heavy-duty compression latch is going to replace or upgrade the latch on your four-inch-thick ramp door of your enclosed trailer. And the shaft rotates 360 degrees to be used as a left or right-handed latch. And this lock can be keyed alike to match other Bauer RV SCI locks, to order keyed alike, rather. You just select the keyed alike option on the dropdown menu on this product page, right there by where the price is listed.
And then you just enter the number of locks in the quantity box. Two keys are going to be included with this, let me go ahead and just give you a brief demonstration here, I'm gonna go ahead and lock this, and then that's going to prevent this handle from opening, and then unlock it. And now you can see that that handle is going to be able to open. So very easy operation. It's very durable, very well-built.
This features a die cast aluminum construction with a corrosion-resistant black powder coat finish. And I went ahead and took some measurements before our time together. The overall length from end to end, we're sitting at about nine and 5/8 inches long. The thickness is about two and 1/8 inch thick. And then the distance, actually the threaded shaft length, is what I meant to say, we're sitting right at about five and 3/8 inches long.
And then the distance between the two mounting holes here on center, you can see those, were two inches on center. And this does include everything that you see here on my table before me. Then I found the depth of locking rod too short. 2 major strike outs.
Exactly what we needed to replace the rear ramp latches on our 2018 Grand Design 399TH Toy Hauler. If you're reading this, and you have a typical toy hauler, do NOT think you need the 2" handles. You need these! The description is wrong, wrong, wrong. '4" Thick Ramp Doors'? Nothing to do with the thickness of the ramp door. Compare the bolts look and length before you order. These also come with the lock covers, which is good.
I'm giving it FOUR stars because these do NOT come with the necessary screws to mount them to the ramp door. You will need to save your old ones. (Note: The 2" product doesn't come with these screws, either.) I ended up using completely different screws.

I am sorry for any confusion that this has caused you. When it comes to "keyed alike" options, we are unable to key any of these Bauer locks to your pre-existing lock. When it states "keyed alike" and it doesn't allow you to put in a key number, then it most likely is the same way. We have no way to get the same key number as what you already have. So when purchasing these types of locks, you can "key alike" a bundle of locks that are purchased at the same time, but we are unable to key it alike to your pre-existing key. I apologize for any inconvenience, I recommend contacting the manufacturer if you are needing a new lock to match your pre-existing key and lock set.
