Video Transcript for Erickson Off Road Accessories - Tow Hook - Loop - EM59505 Review

Today, we'll be reviewing part number EM59505. This is a Erickson bolt-on tow hook. It's going to provide an attachment point for your tow straps. It's going to bolt on very quickly and easily. It can be used for a variety of industrial, agricultural or recreational purposes. It's going to include the keeper that's going to help secure the strap onto the hook. It's a nice steel construction, with a black powder coat finish, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion.

Then, all the mounting hardware that you need to get this installed is included. It's going to offer a capacity of 10,000 pounds. If we take a look at some measurements, we want to measure the diameter of each hole. That's going to give us a diameter of 1/2 inch, and then, center-on-center, those holes are going to be separated by 1 3/8 inch. Now, this is not a custom fit, so it's a universal mounting application. It can be mounted to any surface that will handle the loads required of the tow hook. The normal mounting location is going to be to the vehicle's frame.

The half-inch mounting holes are 1 3/8 inch apart, center-on-center, so you can measure to see if you have pre-drilled locations on your vehicle's frame to install the hooks. If not, then you can drill out holes to mount the hooks at any location that's going to work best for your application. The opening that we're going to have between the point of the hook and the back portion there is going to measure about two inches. So you're going to get the hook, you're going to get the bolts, you're going to get the keeper, and you're going to get the lock nuts. The overall length, measuring from end to end, is going to give us a measurement of about 5 1/2 inches. To install the keeper, it's actually a really simple installation. It's going to go on like that, so all you have to do is line up your holes, and then you can install everything that you need.

You can install the bolts, and then you're going to secure it with the nuts on the opposite side. They are lock nuts, so they're going to secure everything together for a nice, tight, secure installation. Again, this is typically wanting to be mounted onto the vehicle's frame or anywhere that can support the limit of the low hook which, again, has a capacity of 10,000 pounds. You definitely want to check to see if you have the pre-drilled mounting locations. If not, you can drill out two half-inch holes, making sure that they're going to be 1 3/8 inch apart, center-on-center. That's going to work just great for this bolt-on tow hook. That's going to do it for today's review of part number EM59505.

Large and accurate pictures of the product was really helpful during selection. I received exactly what the picture showed; great job! The hooks were installed on the front of a Fire Department Brush Truck.

  • Will the EM59505 Tow Hook Fit the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook is not a custom fit item and can be mounted to any surface that will handle the loads required of the tow hook. The normal mounting location is to the frame. The 1/2 inch mounting holes are 1-3/8 inches on center so you can measure to see if you have pre-drilled locations on your Jeep to install the hooks. If not you can drill holes to mount the hooks at any location you like.

  • How to Determine if the Black Bolt-On Tow Hook 10,000 lbs Will Fit on a 1998 Chevy Suburban
The Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook - Black - 10,000 lbs, item # EM59505, has the same mounting dimensions as the chrome bolt on tow hook, item # EM59503, which I recently measured. The mounting holes are spaced 1-3/8 inches apart on center. I took a photo of the tow hook and added the measurement for you to see. You will have to measure the spot on your frame that you intend to mount the tow hooks and see if there are existing holes or if there is enough room to drill 1/2 inch holes. You may...

  • Can Tow hooks Be Installed on 2019 GMC Savana 2500
To get tow hooks installed on your 2019 GMC Savana Van you're going to have to have a shop fabricate something for you as there aren't any custom-fit options made for your vehicle. You could potentially install the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13701 with the Erickson Tow Hook # EM57500 or use tow hooks like the Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook with Keeper # EM59505 to accomplish this, but you'll need the shop to look at the parts and plan out the installation with you to make sure...

  • Capacity of Superwinch 3K Winch Pulling a Rolling Load Up a 30 Percent Incline
Superwinch LT3000ATV Winch - 3K Item # SW1130220 can handle 2,000 pounds on a 30 percent incline but keep in mind the higher the capacity on the winch the easier it will be on the winch. You can go up to a 4,400 pound winch # BDW15019 for not much of a price increase. But the step above that, 5,800 pounds # BDW10029, carriers a more significant increase in price. You can double the capacity of a winch by using a pulley block such as # BDW20004 with a hook, # EM59505, bolted at the front...

The Erickson Recovery Strap w/ Reinforced Loop Ends # EM59500 referenced in your question is an extremely durable recovery strap with a maximum vehicle weight capacity of 9,000 pounds and a maximum load (break strength) of 18,000 pounds. It works very well with a hook like the Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook with Keeper # EM59505. This bolt on hook can be used for a variety of industrial or recreational purposes and has a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. I have attached a couple short video...

  • Fit of Erickson # EM59505 on Bumper of 1995 Jeep Wrangler With Out Drilling
The Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook you mentioned, part # EM59505 is a universal, not a vehicle specific application. The hook would mount using 1/2 inch holes spaced 1-3/8 inches apart on center. If your bumper on your 1995 YJ has holes that match, you would be able to mount the hook without drilling. We do offer some vehicle specific tow hooks, but nothing specific for the 1995 YJ.

  • Erickson Recovery Tow Strap # EM59801 Recommendation for Towing a Silverado 2500 Diesel
The strongest recovery strap is our Erickson Recovery Tow Strap # EM59801. This strap has a break strength of 35,000 lbs and can be used on vehicles that weigh up 17,500 lbs. I would recommend you put two Erickson Bolt-On Tow Hook with Keeper # EM59505 on the front of your 2500 Silverado and then run one end of the # TR63046 through the loop on the other end of the strap so that you have a slip knot that you could put around both of the tow hooks to spread the weight of towing your vehicle...

  • Recommended Winch to Load 4,000 lb Tractor onto Flat Bed Trailer
The Superwinch # 1120210 LT2000 you referenced would be perfect for your needs. According to my calculations, the ramps you are using have a bit more than a 40 percent grade. According to the table shown in the FAQ article I have linked you to, the Superwinch # 1120210 you referenced is capable of pulling about 4300 lbs of rolling load like your tractor up a 40 degree ramp. Since you are pretty close to the max capacity of the winch, I would recommend mounting your winch to the trailer...

  • Using Electric Winch to Load Ice Fishing Shack onto Trailer
Either the Superwinch Terra # SW1135230 winch with its 3500 lb capacity or the Superwinch # 1120210 LT2000 winch (I am not clear about which one you have) should be able to handle your ice shack with no problem if you use a pulley block like # BDW20004. Using a pulley block can nearly double the winch capacity, which will be necessary because you will be pulling a dead weight up an incline. You would mount the winch offset to one side of the front of the trailer, and secure a heavy duty...

We do not carry OEM factory tow hooks for your 1997 Dodge 2500 but we do have hitch-mount types like Curt Forged Tow Hook # C45500, # BDW20182 and # MT70028. We also have hitch-mount tow loops like # C45832, # BDW20186 and # MT70029. Bolt-on tow hooks are also available such as # EM59505. All such items appear on the page I linked for you.

  • Pulley Block for Hauling Disabled Vehicles off Car Hauler
It sounds like you're looking for a pulley block like part # BDW20004. I would think some sort of D-ring tied into the frame of the trailer would provide a good mount for the pulley block. I looked through our selection of D-rings, and the highest capacity we offer is the # RR5K. You'd want something with sufficient capacity to handle the largest vehicle you expect to have to haul off. Since you're dealing with a rolling load, 5K should be plenty but I would be sure that the ring is tied...

The electric winch I recommend is the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm # DL25046. This winch has a 2,700-lb straight line pull capacity and is you use the included pulley the double line pull increases to 4,000-lbs. I have attached a drawing that shows how a double line with the pulley is done. As far as attaching the winch to the garage floor, you will want to make sure it is as secure as possible so that it will not come loose when using it. As the drawing shows, the winch is mounted offset...
