Hopkins Tow Lights mount on the back of your towed vehicle.

These wireless, removable tow lights make it easy to add running lights, brake lights, and turn signals to your towed car or trailer. With this setup, you won't need to tap into existing wiring for installation. With other magnetic tow lights, you have to run cords from the lights to the front of the towed car or trailer every time you need to tow. These tow lights work wirelessly to eliminate that hassle. And the wireless design also allows you to move the lights from one vehicle to another in minutes.

Hopkins Tow Lights magnetic base.

The lights attach directly to any metal surface with the included heavy-duty, non-scratch magnets, which won't damage your paint. And the handy on/off switch lets you use the lights only when you need them, saving battery power.

The 4-way connector plugs into your vehicle. The transmitter attaches to your tow vehicle via a heavy-duty magnet.

Setup is simple. Plug the included transmitter into the 4-way flat trailer connector on your RV or tow vehicle. The transmitter mounts to the frame of the RV or tow vehicle using the built-in magnet. Turn the switch on the driver's-side light to "on," and attach the tow lights to the back of the towed car or trailer, as far apart as is practical. Secure any excess wire between the 2 lights with a twist tie.

Each light is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included). A blinking LED indicator on the face of the driver's-side light signals low battery. This indicator should be checked every 2 hours to be sure your lights still have adequate power.

2024 Ford F-150

Used these to tow aluminum body F150. Magnets strong enough to securely attach below rear bumper which is about the only steel part available. Super easy to set up and they work perfectly

They work great on my Class C pulling my Honda CRV.

by:
2019 Thor Windsport Motorhome

I just received them and tested them out and they work great. They are very bright and responsive. I look forward to using them in the future when I tow my vehicle behind my RV.

Haven’t used it yet. Looks good and delivery was fast.

VERY GOOD SERVICE I HAVE ORDER THINGS FROM FOR YEARS I THINK THEY ARE THE BEST BAR NONE

by:

Have issues with lights blinking erratic

by:

Ordered these because my car towing wiring had a problem and didn't have time to get it fixed. First set arrived but had a manufacturing defect and right hand light didn't work (not etrailer's fault!). Called etrailer and they were very accommodating in sending out a second set which arrived in time. The second set worked perfectly. Good service and extensive follow up by etrailer shows they care. I'll use them for other purchases any time!

Still works great. Save us on a trip when the car to RV connection went [bad].

by:

No big deal, install batteries and put on toad !

Should have done this years ago before they cut into my tail light wiring and also had to deal with rusted out 4 prong plug in over the years.

Still the best and not a problem, quality product

by:

Test connection went perfectly. Will see how it goes when we hit the road in May. The lights look well made and should last me a long time.

Thank for the great service!

Lincoln MKZ

These things are the best thing since sliced bread!
We have a Lincoln MKZ that already has a hitch on the rear for towing a small enclosed trailer. The thought of having to "hard" wire in a wiring harness for towing behind the motorhome that would still allow the trailer to be towed was not a task I was looking forward to. etrailer suggested these as an alternative. Literally plug and play. Just plug the transmitter into the motorhome, install batteries and attach the magnetic based lights to the trunk of the MKZ and presto! DONE! I hooked the car up behind the motorhome and ran it down the freeway at 60-65 mph and all was good. Worked straight out of the box! Fantastic product!

Wonderful product

Saturn Ion

These work well, bright. They do eat up regular Duracell batteries. After first use of these I switched to Lithium Ion. The lights were noticeably brighter in the daylight sun. The life of the batteries has drastically improved service. I have a habit of removing the batteries when not in use to enable greater duration; they do have an on/off switch built in, but it's so simple to remove them in case of phantom degradation. Over-all, I am very happy with these and installation on the car is a snap. Love them so far. Would buy/recommend to others.

by:

Great looking lights, LED wireless hook up makes this an easy installation and easy choice.

by:

Works great no problems easy to install

by:
2011 Ford Taurus

Was absolutely 100% delighted with this product. Drove a total of 2600 miles in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions and these lights worked perfectly. Batteries lasted all most to the end of the trip. I'd recommend this set up to everyone who cannot afford to have wiring redone on a vintage trailer.

by:

I bought the wireless Hopkins tow lights to temporarily tow my new Jeep behind our Motorhome until I could wire the taillights permanently. I liked them so well that I have never wired the Jeep and only use the wireless taillights.

by:

very easy to see and use. I hope I never have to rewire another old trailer. Love them.

by:

Great customer service

by:

Great experience.Fast service.

by:

These have been a lifesaver for our camper lights not working properly. Never had an issue with these

by:
2010 Honda Element

I have not tried this yet, but the design is excellent! Having a magnet on the transmitter to attach to the tow vehicle was just icing on the cake!

by:

Great system

by:

Product appears to work as represented. Have not had it on the road yet.

Lights work great, and battery life is better than expected. Only issue is potential for paint damage... I recommend that the manufacturer consider a softer landing pad to reduce potential for paint scratches.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2000 Chevy Cavalier
The first thing needed to flat tow your 2000 Chevy Cavalier is a base plate kit like the Blue Ox Base Plate kit part # BX1647. This provides the attachment point for a set of tow bars. For Tow Bars I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha part # BX7380. This comes with safety cables. For lighting I would recommend the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights # C6304. And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake...

  • Can I Connect The Hopkins Magnetic Lights To 4-Pin and Still Use Brake Controller
The Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights part # C6304 are designed to be plugged into a 4-pin connector on a towed vehicle. If you want to use these on the vehicle and plug them into the 4-pin on the trailer you would not have the running lights on your trailer. Also it sounds like you are having an issue with the trailer wiring connector on your vehicle anyway if the trailer lights are not lighting up. I recommend to check the 4-pin wiring on the 2019 Land Rover Discovery for any damaged or frayed...

  • Can Magnetic Tow Lights be Used at Same Time Tow Dolly Taillights
Yes, if you added a 4-way to the 7-way trailer wiring of your tow vehicle you could use the Hopkins magnetic tow lights part # C6304 that you referenced and the tow dolly taillights will still function as well. To easily add a 4-way you could use the part # 118384 which will plug inline with your 7-way.

  • Why Will the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights not Work on a Couple of my Trucks
There should be no issues going from manufacturer to manufacturer with the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights with 4-Way Flat Connector part # C6304. There can be a few exceptions however. On some Fords there was an issue where the towing package or mode had to be on for the wiring adapter to receive signals from the wireless transmitter. There are some vehicles that do not recognize the light or efficient draw we get from LED lights. This high efficiency can sometimes "fool" certain vehicle's...

The Blue Ox # BX2800 base plate kit is compatible with your Fiat 500 Sport, and the plate kit is also compatible with the Aventa II Tow Bar you have, according to Blue Ox. To safely flat tow your vehicle, you'll also need safety cables (usually included with Blue Ox Tow Bars), a lighting solution like # C6304 and a supplemental braking system like the Roadmaster # RM-9400. I'll link you to several of our Flat towing articles that you might find helpful.

  • How to Power Supplementary Braking System In Jeep Liberty that Has Battery Disconnect Switch
A flat towing wiring harness cannot be plugged in to your Liberty's standard 4-pole trailer wiring harness, the one that you would use to tow a trailer. Flat tow wiring needs to remain separate from the toad's own trailer wiring. A magnetic tow light kit like Hopkins #C6304 makes for quick and easy installation without having to interfere with existing trailer wiring. For powering a supplementary braking system such as the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR while your toad's battery is shut off...

  • Can Trailer Wiring and Tow Bar Wiring be Installed at Same Time on 2011 Honda CR-V
The trailer wiring harness you have installed with the Hopkins tow bar wiring harness part # HM56300 that you referenced is your issue. If you want the # HM56300 to be functional you'll need to remove the trailer wiring harness. Another option would be to leave the trailer wiring installed and use a temporary wiring kit for flat towing wiring like the part # C6304 which is magnetic and attaches to the top of the vehicle.

Along with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1716 and the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar # BX7380 there are a couple more parts you need in order to safely flat tow your 2016 Cadillac Escalade. Since the Alpha comes with safety chains we can check that off the list but you will also need a wiring kit in order to activate your Escalade's brake lights and turn signals. What you'd need to do is use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the pins of your 4-way when it's connected to your motorhome and you activate all of the turn signals. If the 4-way has voltage when the Grand Cherokee has it's turn signals activated by the motorhome then what you are wanting to do could easily be possibly using it's trailer wiring.
