Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com, and today we are looking at this Yakima Roof-Rack with JetStream Crossbars and RidgeLine Towers on our 2020 Hyundai Palisade. So, this is a nice roof-rack because our Palisade has these flush mounted side rails, so our RidgeLine Towers really clamp onto there and create this nice roof rack.We have 50-inch bars on our Palisade and the overhang between the end of the towers and the end of the bars is 3 inches, something you might want to keep in mind if you need larger space, you'd get larger bars, and let's inaudible 00:00:39 see exactly how we installed it.What might help while you're installing this is I use the Moki Door Step, which since the Palisade is a little bit tall, it helps reach up there, so you can work around here. This JetStream bars come in black as well as this aluminum silver color, so you can choose which best fits your vehicle. And, these lock cores can be used with your Same Key System Yakima Lock Core, so these can switch out so you can match them with all your other Yakima accessories.I already installed one bar on there, so we get to install this other bar together. The first thing I do is to loosen all the bolts around the tower. Of course, make sure to take the cap off first. And with those bolts loosened on the inside as well, you can then put these parts in.
So these fit our arrow bars, and first you need to snap this part into place. So put that in there, and remember, you have to hear that click to know that it's in there. With that in place, we can then put this plate in and tighten it down underneath. With this tightened down, you can see how it's firmly attached to our tower, and we're then ready to put it onto our bar.On your bar, you're going to need to take out the rubber strip underneath. Make sure it's underneath where you see the measurements, and this will have to be cut to size later.
Then you can put your tower in. So if it's too. there we go. If it's too tight, you may need to loosen it. Now put your tower through the slot in the bar. With both towers in place, these have to be equidistant from each other, and you might need to put it on your roof first to figure out the best spot.
For our 2020 Hyundai Palisade, we found that putting them at 38 was the sweet spot. When the towers are right at the length you need them to be, you can then tighten them down here at the top. There we go. Pretty good. Do the same for the other side. Now put the pads on the towers. Make sure the arrow is pointing out and the flat side is facing the inside.
So these just snap on like that. With the pads on the towers, you can then put your fit clips on, and we have two sizes, R15 and R7. R7 goes on the outside. See how there's only one bracket there. So make sure this is loosened enough so you can fit it through the bar and over the bracket. Just hold that in place before you tighten it down. Do the same on the other side, where it's through the bar, then down, and hooks around the two hooks underneath. If this is a struggle for you, you can also put the fit clips on while they're up on the vehicle so that gravity is holding them down. What I like to do is put them on right here and just tighten them down a little bit so that they're gripped in place before I pop them on the vehicle. With your towers installed, I recommend getting a set of hands to help you out with the bar. So, I'll hand it up over here and just put it into place. When you're confident and you've tested that the towers are at the right distance away from each other, you can then cut the rubber strip underneath and make sure it fits right inside. And we'll just cut the ends as well to size and make sure it fits around the end caps of your arrow bar.So you have to make sure that your bars are at the right position on your car. So the front one is measured at 19 inches away from the front. And the second bar needs to be at least 27 inches away. So I've already got this measured, but as you can see, it's from the middle to the middle 27 inches exactly. Make sure it's the same length on the other side, then you're ready to tighten it down. Here, I like to double-check that this part is tightened down because that's what holds the top bar into place, so make sure that it's tight. And, now you have to tighten in your fit clips. So get that in there, and you may need to position the clips a little bit in place, especially behind your tower as you tighten it in.When you're tightening them down, make sure you hear a click, one and there you go. So if you don't hear that click, keep tightening down. With this tightened down, you can then pop the lids or the cap right into place. So, just get that in position, and it snaps into place.Final thoughts about this roof-rack is I like how easy it was to install. The instructions were. they're okay if you follow along with the video, you will see how exactly all the pieces work together. Just put this part, put that part, tighten them down, and you're good to go. It looks really good on our Palisade. I like how sleek it looks and how low-profile it is as well. So that's really nice, especially with the JetStream Bars. I'm a fan of how aerodynamic they are, reduce wind noise and drag, so that's awesome. So that was a look at the Yakima Roof-Rack with JetStream Bars and RidgeLine Towers here on our 2020 Hyundai Palisade.

These crossbars combine the strength of steel with an aerodynamic shape to create a heavy-duty yet quiet roof rack for your vehicle. Full-length bars maximize cargo carrying capacity and work with most clamp-on accessories.Placed the order for the rack a year ago. I didn’t like the way it sat on the roof of my vehicle, but because I had already installed it, etrailer customer service refused to take it back. I would’ve gladly paid for the return shipping or some sort of restocking fee, but that wasn’t an option. I’ve had brand new rack and hardware sitting in their original boxes for a year.
My only complaint is the time it took to get my order. I understand this was out of your hands and dependent on supply problems.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
Great secure product though some written instructions on their setup and installation would be helpful.
I ordered the wrong set up for my car, but the excellent customer service specialist set me up and expedited my roof rack that fit perfectly. I highly recommend calling and speaking with the knowledgeable staff about your needs. I'm super happy with the experience overall!
Was skeptical at first because I needed the posts as well for my 2011 Honda Element. The Honda crossbars were not adequately weight rated and is why I opted for Yakima. Couldn't be happier with my choice as this assembly has served me well throughout the year.
Received this Yakima roof rack system for my flush-rail 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature on Thursday, and installed it on Friday.
It’s not the simplest installation I’ve encountered, and I’d had a number of Thule products before. I found the installation “picto-grams” not that helpful. Also the 3.5 newton-meter torque screwdriver provide would not “click”.
It looks great on the Mazda, but took about 4 hours to install - getting the clips in place was an issue ; I got the outer to clip on, only to find the inner had come off its attachment clips- very frustrating.
Of all of the many racks I’ve purchased over the years, this, by far, is the worst. Once installed, it is okay, but installing these towers is extremely frustrating. The front and back “clips” fall out requiring multiple attempts. When I contacted Yakima customer support, they acknowledged that they have received complaints about the product. Their solution was to just leave the racks on the car. I asked to be notified when a better product was available but a year later I’ve received no response. If this is the only option available for your vehicle (as it was for mine), then prepare to be frustrated. Otherwise, purchase a different product.
I bought both the roof rack and the cage from etrailer! Put everything on myself...easy peasy!
1 year later and still love my Yakima JetStream system. I've mostly used them to transport my kayak however I've also been able to transport some big box store items as well. They are very versatile. There is a t-track option as well as wrap around attachments. I've use ladder attachments, eyebolts, and Thule Hullavator in t-track. I've used Malone MegaWing and Yakima Skybox as wrap around attachment. What I really like about the t-track system is that you do not need to cut out the rubber track insert. You simply slide over the rubber, which allows you to adjust your system, on the fly, to load what you need to carry.
I have not bought car roof racks for decades--back when there were those very useful rain gutters. So I was shocked with the high prices. But what you get today is much more carefully engineered with a complicated construction. This Yakima version even comes with a manual 3.5 mm hex driver which turns out to be a torque wrench too. You use it 16 times, torquing to its limit, in installing the two cross rails on the four towers. Years ago you installed the towers where you wanted them on the rain gutters and adjusted the cross rails by sight. No more. You must go on line to Yakima. You must get the precisely engineered dimensions for your exact vehicle. You even adjust the towers for the roof slope and any toe-in of the roof line. Pay attention to the precise instructions. The result is very solid. I wish that I had more space between the cross rails. There is room for another 6 or 8 inches given where the door openings on my 2019 Toyota Highlander are spaced. But then the rear base clips would be different and that logistics would add yet more to the price. I am confident that I can secure a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood on the cross rails. And I will find my vehicle in the mall parking lot easier with those good looking rails. While I am happy with the end product, I wish the vendors had given more explanation of the fixed dimensions of today's installations. That would have helped make my on-line shopping less frustrating. Part of the problem is that Yakima and Thule do not provide cross rails for my LE Highlander's existing tower bases. And I could not get 60 inch cross rails on any of the versions that fit my LE's bases.
Item was as described and shipping was fast. Overall very satisfied with trailer. Will definitely order my stuff from them
I want to thank the staff at eTrailer for their outstanding support. After my roof rack order got off to a shaky start the customer service staff stepped in and made it right; 100% RIGHT. I cannot thank them, and eTrailer, enough. Regarding the roof rack itself, I have now installed it and can vouch that the installation was a breeze. All parts fit and the instructions were correct. For the record, this is not my first purchase from eTrailer (I've bought hitch items from them before) and it won't be my last. They have ALWAYS given great service, their web site works, their products and descriptions are good, etc., etc. Thank you!
I needed crossbars for my new 2018 Mazda CX5, which came with flush side rails. The RidgeLine Towers for the Yakima crossbars, along with the vehicle specific kit worked great. The installation (10-15 min) is super easy. They look cool, and performed great (I strapped 160-lbs rooftop tent on them!). Removing them is also super easy (10 min tops). Highly recommend.
It's a great roof rack, but the paint is getting all scratched off...probably from sliding kayaks up onto it. I hope it doesn't rust. So far no signs of that.
I loved how easy these towers were to install. Took less than 30 mins total. They look nice and feel very sturdy. I am looking forward to loading the Kayaks up and getting out on the water next weekend.
Because of the 'rona-induced supply chain interruptions, I was unable to purchase all of my Yakima components from etrailer, but I did get these, and they are typically excellent Yakima components. Well-made, easy to install, good directions, no problems.
I chose the Yakima roof rack, because It spanned 50 inches, rather than the leading competitor's 47 inches, making it better for tying down 4 ft x 8 ft sheets of building material. It also seemed to be about half the price. It took me about 2 hours to put it all together and mount it on my car. The instructions were all visual and there was one little pic I didn't understand, but the equipment seemed to go together correctly anyway. Now that it's adjusted, it should be fairly easy to remove and replace next time. I did need to put on super tacky gloves to get the covers off. Although it seemed unnecessarily complicated, I would still choose this product again.
The 60" CoreBar Crossbars will be much more useful to us than the original 50" bars placed on our shell at the factory. The only issue I had was that there were no instructions with the bars. It took a little while for me to figure out how the old bars came off and how to put the new ones on but I'll consider that a learning experience.
I did a lot of research before purchasing my roof rack. I came across this website and liked the prices, and after much thought, decided to get the Yakima CoreBar crossbars. I received my roof rack within a couple days of ordering! It's extremely sturdy and doesn't make hardly any wind noise. I love it and it looks great on my car, couldn't be happier with my purchase!!
Easy installation. Great follow-up and service by etrailer post-delivery

Thanks again.
One year later and everything works well. I had a problem early on where the rubber protection for one of the j clips from the base towers came off. Contacted etrailer and they sent me a whole new assembly direct from Yakima. Thanks for the prompt response and service!
Product was packaged well, arrived in perfect condition.
Instructions easy to follow. Installation took less than (1) hour. I did it alone & I’m 76 yrs. old.
Is very sturdy. Looks good on my 5 door Subaru.
The feature that impressed me the most in dealing with your company was how I was able to track my package inside your facility with the name of the employee handling the item before it even shipped. Very organized. Would definitely recommend you to others & purchase from you again.
Nicole was beyond helpful!!!!!
