Thule Snowpack Extender

The Thule SnowPack lets you carry up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards on the roof of your vehicle. It slides out over your roof to make it easy to load and unload your gear. This low-profile carrier adjusts to the size of your skis and snowboards and reduces the height of the carrier, with or without gear loaded. The system comes with 2 different sets of extensions, so you can raise the rack to accommodate skis and boards with tall bindings. Large push-button releases make loading and unloading the carrier a snap, even with gloves on.

Extends for Easy Loading and Unloading

Thule Snowpack Extender extending over car

The arms slide out past the side of your car. This makes it easy to load and unload without having to reach up over your car roof. Rotate the 2 hand knobs on the base of each crossbar clockwise to release the crossbars so they slide out. When you are done loading or unloading slide each crossbar back into its postion over your car's roof. Rotate the knobs counterclockwise to secure the crossbars in place.

Vertical Spring System

Thule Snowpack Extender vertical spring system

The SnowPack's smart vertical spring system gives the carrier a lower profile and improves aerodynamics. The spring system adjusts to the thickness of the skis or snowboards you're loading and only raises the top of the carrier as high as needed to secure your gear. Similarly, when unloaded the spring system reduces the overall carrier height.

2 Sets of Raisers

Thule Snowpack Extender risers

If you're carrying gear with tall bindings, and you're worried about damaging the roof of your car, the SnowPack has you covered. The system comes with 2 sets of T-track height extenders that raise the profile of the carrier. The raisers snap onto the bottom of the carrier and install in the top channels of your crossbars with T-bolts. The raisers can be used individually or together, depending on the size of the gear you're transporting.

Oversized Push-Buttons

Thule Snowpack Extender

The carrier opens with oversized push-buttons on the end of each arm. Because the buttons are large and release with a natural upward motion, you won't have any trouble releasing the arms, even when wearing heavy, winter gloves.

Ultra-Soft Rubber Liner

Thule Snowpack Extender rubber liner

The SnowPack is designed to safely and securely transport your skis and snowboards. The arms are lined with ultra-soft rubber that secures your skis and snowboards in place and protects your gear from being scratched or scuffed by the carrier.

SpeedLink Mounting System

Thule Snowpack Extender

The carrier installs with the SpeedLink universal mounting system, which uses rubber-coated stainless steel straps that wrap around your crossbars. Simply run each strap beneath the crossbar and hook them to the brackets. Then simply tighten the straps with the turn knob.

One-Key Security

Thule Snowpack Extender One Key Security

The SnowPack comes equipped with a complete One-Key lock cylinder package. The arms of the carriers lock to secure your gear to the carrier, and the mounting hardware locks to secure the carrier to your vehicle. And since all 4 cylinders are keyed alike you'll only have to keep track of one key for the entire system.

Love it!!!!!! Great ski rack replacement for older rack. The extended slide is incredible. The eTrailer support helped me pick the model that worked for my car and crossbars. Another wonderful purchase from my go to source for bike/ski or other related products!

Awesome. Perfect for travelling with my skis. I use this with 3 pairs of skis and poles.

by:

Used this last season for the first time. Found it lightweight and very easy to install; the main difficulty was getting front and back carriers aligned on the center of the vehicle as the clasps are offset. It was used to hold 4 sets of skis and did this quite easily. I think 5 sets would be no problem, but six sets might be pushing it especially if you are using wider skis. It is very much worth the extra money to get the extender/slide out option if you stand under 6' tall and have an SUV.

by:

Fits our 4 skis and 1 snowboard, 2 skis are for kids which makes it easier. Slide out is really helpful so we don't have to climb over the car to put things on the rack.

Great, still working out.

by:

Great quality, great price and great etrailer service! Installation videos on the web site helped a lot, since the owner's installation instructions came as "pictogram-type" drawings. Good for reference but a bit obscure as tutorial.

by:

These work great. They are not quiet, but rumble like the wind they create Due to their square shape.I sort of wish I had gone with a trailer hitch system for skis that could be detached, especially as I went for the aerodynamic bars in order to have a quiet rack system. The pull out feature is cool though, and they load easily. I had an idea, why not create a system where the ski attAchment could pivot 90 degrees down horizontal when not carrying skis — they are loudest when not loaded. They would be more aerodynamic and shorter profile all week until it’s time to go skiing.

by:

Installation is straight forward. We like the extender slide out option and it’s easy to load, lock/unlock and unload. We would recommend this carrier.

by:

Last year it worked great for all our snowboards (up to three for us). Being able to slide made it so much more convenient. The quality was good, though it makes the car louder at highway speeds.

by:

Design flaw. The rack only slides well when it's warm and dry and empty. Weighted with skis or cold or snowy-- forget it. And its height on the mount bars makes it difficult to reach if you're under six feet tall. I'm sorry I wasted the money.

According to our Thule representative, the fit between the sliding and the stationary portion of the skisnowboard carrier is by necessity fairly snug in order to prevent rattling. Because of this, and road grime or debris that has collected in the tracks can indeed make it difficult to slide the carrier. Thule recommends using a brush occasionally to clean the tracks and to lightly lubricate the tracks with spray lubricant.

by:

The Thule Snowpack Extender is a great snowboard/ski rack!

by:

Items shipped and received in impeccable shape. Rack is on, snowboard attachment to follow when snow is visited. So far so good, pleased with service and will write a formal review after have had a chance to subject to the elements. Attached are photos. Thank you!

by:

product arrived exactly as described, and I used some of the Youtube videos from etrailer to install the rack. 10/10 service

by:

Quick delivery. Keys were missing from box but customer service quickly sent out replacements when I told them. Rails work well.

by:

Slide out function works great on my SUV. They are a little taller than I anticipated but look and work great.

by:

Work great. I can fit one snowboard and four sets of skis.

by:

Arrived quickly and fairly easy to install.

This rack easily fits 5 sets of skis for my family. It is FAIRLY easy to take on and off (could be faster if we didn't have to turn turn turn the dials). My biggest complaint is that as soon as my skis are out of it, I HAVE to remove it from my car (SUV). The noise of it empty on my roof is so loud when I am on the highway it is AWFUL! It's like it vibrates my whole car and is super loud. It only does it when there are no skis in it. It is frustrating since it would be way easier just to leave it on all winter taking my skis on and off when we need to, not the entire rack.

by:

Just put this snowboard rack on my 2011 4runner mounted to Thule Aeroblade roof rack. Easy to install and use. Quality seems good. Like the look. No noise issues when driving. No complaints so far. Overall satisfied!

In order to carry skis or snowboards using a rack like the Thule SnowPack Ski and Snowboard Carrier - 6 Skis or 4 Boards - Black # TH7326B, you will need a roof rack system since these do not mount to naked roofs. Then measure from the center of the front bar straight back to the seam between the roof and the top of the rear hatch. This is a critical measurement.
