How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com. We're taking a look at the Yakima crossbars on our 2024 Kia Carnival. So, why would you want to add crossbars to the top of your vehicle It's a good question. What this can do for you is allow you to free up space on the inside of your vehicle where you can store away bulkier items you may not need access to during a trip, whereas you can keep the things you're gonna go for inside the vehicle. Also, you're making use of a feature you already have on your Carnival, the raised rail. So you're basically making use of space that you already have.
The type of bars that we have here, these are gonna be elliptical aero bars, so you're gonna cut through the wind a lot better than like your square bars when you have a flat surface, reducing the amount of wind noise you have. You actually have a channel on the top here that works as a T-slot. When you remove your cap here, you can feed items into your crossbar and the width on that is 7/16. So you want to be mindful as far as what size accessories you'd like to use. Going down a little further, if you take the overall height that we're adding from the top, it's about 2 1/2 inches, and these guys, they sit a little higher than the other bars I've looked at today, but nonetheless it's, you know, it's still a great improvement as far as the space that you're gonna save on the inside of your vehicle.
I'm gonna pop this cap back on and we'll take a look at the cover here. On the side you'll see three little dots and that's where you're gonna squeeze, you're gonna pinch and squeeze to remove it. This is where you would add a same-key system lock core if you decided that you want to additional security to your crossbars. And this is actually where you make all your connections, where your fastening connections to attach the crossbar to your raised rail on your vehicle. All right, your weight capacity is at 165.
As far as what works for your vehicle, you wanna consult with Kia's manual to see what the capacity is for your roof. Overall, as far as your spread, that will vary if you, between having a kayak carrier or a cargo box. You want to go with whatever accessory you're using to determine your spread. But the positive note is, there are no fixed mounting points. So you can make adjustments as far as your spread and where it's fitting as far as closer to the front or closer to the rear of the vehicle.
Now these guys are also available in silver that kind of match a little bit better with the contrast of the vehicle. But black and silver are gonna be your options. But let's take a closer look at the installation, show you how we get 'em on top. I already got my measurement, 'cause as far as where your feet are gonna install on your raised rail, you want to be, you need a on center measurement and that was 46 inches on the front. So I'm gonna take off my caps and I'm gonna use the included measuring tape to position my, let's flip this guy around here. They actually have a marking on the bottom of your clamp here that lets you know where the center point is and you can always use a tape measure as well, and I would suggest that, but I'm gonna tighten it down just a little bit just to hold it snug but keep it loose enough for me to still adjust. And I'm using the included Yakima tool that's actually a torque screwdriver, as well. So, all right, so that's loose enough to, oh, that's a little tight. Lemme loosen up a little more and I can slide it to get it aligned to where I need. There we are. We're gonna do the same on the other side. And because our numbers on our bar where we can take our measurements are kind of faint, we're gonna use our tape measure just just to confirm that we are 46 inches apart and we're there. So now we're gonna take our torque driver and tighten down our clamps to the bar. You're gonna twist until you hear it click and that's when you know you reached the required torque to safely attach the feet. We're gonna slide our end caps on and throw it on top of our Carnival. Now having a second set of hands would definitely make it easier, however you can install this solo. Just wanna be cautious not to damage your paint on your roof. You can just kind of place it on top on the other end and then loop your clamp right here on top of your raised rail. You can rest it in this cradle right here. You have a metal bar going through the rubber strap and then you're gonna use your driver to tighten up the screw here, stabilizing the carrier. So I'm gonna go grab my driver and tighten both sides. All right, grab my driver real quick and we're gonna give it a good twist. Now I did notice when I put on the rear, off camera, that that torque feature with the rubber strap doesn't work as well because the strap is gonna keep wanting to pull. So you just want to take note to how tight your strap is getting when you're twisting and we're gonna give it that twist until we hear that click and that way we know we're secure. So I'm gonna head over to the other side and do the same. And then we complete our installation by putting a cover over our nuts and bolts, and it just snaps right over. I'm having a little trouble lining it up. Yeah, there we are. I'll just give it a little push and it's in place. Out the box, there's no lock included, but you can add the Yakima same key system to have a keyed alike lock core for each one of your your feet here. So this has been Ed taking a look at the Yakima Crossbars on our 2024 Kia Carnival. Have a great day.

Heavy-duty crossbars mount to Yakima towers to create an aftermarket roof rack. Top and bottom channels let you add channel-mount accessories. Tie-down points in endcaps let you easily secure cargo.etrailer was a great place to order, quick and easy. Yakima products however are over priced and overly complicated.
I have been a loyal customer of e-trailer for several years, having purchased multiple items in the past with satisfactory results. Unfortunately, this recent purchase has been a disappointing experience.
I ordered a cross-bar kit for my 2023 Honda Pilot, specifically this kit: which is supposed to be compatible with my vehicle.
Upon receiving my order, I noticed that the crossbar box indicated the need for the "HD Bar SL adapter" when used with the Timberline Towers. However, this essential part was not included in the order, rendering the crossbar kit unusable for my vehicle due to the missing parts.
After calling customer service on two separate occasions, they have not been able to acknowledge that the kit should have included the required parts and therefore have not resolved their error by shipping the required parts. I will be returning the entire order and will take my business elsewhere.
Really Easy to Install! Solid and Strong amount to Roof Rack.
These adapters were easy to install and made my system fit together nicely.
Great product, as are all Yakima products,in my opinion. These are on a Yakima system installed on my Diamond Back tonneau cover. Very pleased with them
We purchased the rack 5 weeks in advance of our up and coming trip. (Rack is amazing FYI). However, The website states free shipping over a certain amount. Weeks went by with notifications nothing was sent and the order kept being pushed back.
Once I called I was told those who chose to purchase shipping vs opting for the free shipping got their orders firsts; everyone else fell to the bottom. After waiting a month for “free shipping” I opted to have paid shipping and I received the rack within days.
While this company has many products I could use, I refuse to use them again because what is advertised is NOT what they ethically hold themselves accountable too.
I had a difficult time identifying whether these were the correct adapters for the rack towers that I was purchasing to fit my tracks but that has more to do with yakima doing everything a-la-cart instead of having kits that include everything you need if I hadn't already had the HD bars on my other rack and wanted to be able to transfer them to this rack I probably wouldn't have went to this expense because I think they are overpriced.AS far as etrailer is concerned I always receive great service and products and they are always well packaged and never damaged by poor delivery care and always fast delivery speed.
Yakima OverHaul HD is built tough, sturdy, light but heave duty, well designed, easy to install and remove by leaving the locking base on the track. The height can be adjusted easily to a desired height to fit just right. The "bonus" is a beer bottle opener on each rail :)
Customer service at etrailer is excellent! Always responsive, immediately reply to help with any questions. Tayler K. was my sales representative, she's been super!
Your service is nothing short of excellent! Thank you
While putting the roof racks together, one needs to pay close attention to the detailed instructions; but, so far, the equipment is working well with a good fit on my Toyota highlander—I’ve traveled some 1000 miles so far.
Great product and even better was the service with etrailer! These guys make it happen and delivery was super fast. Thanks for a fantastic experience, will be a return customer.

The Yakima products are doing great. Just got home yesterday from a 18 day trip using them in Michigan's upper peninsula. Love them. Great products. Thanks again.

These are some heavy duty crossbars.
Owned several surfboard racks in 45 years and these are by far the best.
Great tie downs also.
Required for Yakima HD crossbars using timberland tower system.
Great company. Fast delivery.
Great product. Great service.
I choose etrailer simply because they mailed to APO. I’m a AD SM, and a lot of companies don’t shop to APO. As soon as I ordered my product, I received an email as a courtesy from etrailer letting me know I had an individual that would be tracking my product every step of the way, reassuring a smooth process. Their site functionality was easy, their customer service was great. I wanted to know if they had bike racks that would fit my cross bars, I got a email right away with a suggestion and a link that would fit my needs. I’ll definitely order from etrailer if I ever need to again.
The roof rack works well. The only problem I have is noise and while I'm carrying a ladder there is none. I figured if I take the ladder off I'll split a piece of pvc pipe and mount that on the front of it. But they work well for what I needed for work. The service from etrailer was excellant. I dealt with Carol and she did a very good job in helping me.
Worked great
The fit is good on the 22 Wilderness but there is definitely wind noise and I will add a diverter soon.
This part adapted like no other adapter
These Yakima HD SL adapters are necessary to connect HD crossbars with Skyline Towers. This style is somewhat difficult to locate but Etrailer had them in stock, no waiting.
Have worked quite well for what we need. Very happy.
SIMPLE & EASY!
