Can You Use a Larger Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray on a 2023 Ford Expedition Than the 60"x54"

Question:

I found a Yakima lock n load kit on your site that will mount directly to the factory rails on my 23 Ford expedition. The kit includes the 60 x 54 platform along with the direct mounting hardware. My question is ...if I purchase the longer 84 x 54 platform will the mounting hardware still work as direct attach to my truck or would I have to install bars?

You are correct that the 2023 Ford Expedition Platform Roof Rack by Yakima will fit the raised side rails on your Expedition. The 2023 Ford Expedition Platform Roof Rack by Yakima consist of:

- Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray # Y05045
- TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y33TR
- LockNLoad SL Adapter for Yakima # Y05042-2

I have an alternate option, but you would not be able to use the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray # Y05048 (84" Long x 54" Wide) on your 2023 Ford Expedition. The reason is that the 84" Long x 54" Wide platform requires a 3 crossbar or 6 tower set-up, which is not available for the Expedition.

You can however, size up to the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Roof Tray # Y42AV which is 76" Long x 54" Wide.
