What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima HD Bar Roof Rack System on our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you're going for a really sporty off-road look with your Jeep. This is definitely one of the best-looking racks in my opinion, for the Jeep. I liked them a lot. They really have a cool edgy look and it's not just simple round bars or anything like that.
The nice thing about these is we do have some tie-down points so it's gonna help get some cargo up and out of your vehicle and tied down properly. It's always really hard to figure out where you're gonna tie stuff down on, and with the HD bars, they thought of that. With 55 inches of bar space, we can get a bunch of different accessories up on top of the roof. I always liked the etrailer Cargo Basket on top. It just goes well with the curves of the Jeep, but that's just me.
We do have a lot of space so we can put multiple different kayak carriers up there, haul multiple different bikes, if you don't wanna put it in your hitch. And of course, if you are one that hit the slopes we have a bunch of different types of Ski and Snowboard Carriers that'll fit up on top here as well. We can use T-slot accessories with the HD bars. I really like the end cap when it comes to putting on T-slot accessories, you don't have to remove the cap every single time you wanna do it. There's a little slot up top, which is really nice.
And we do have a nice little weather strip too. So that's gonna help with road noise and stuff like that. But if you already have some wrap-around accessories or if you're planning on getting some, just make sure that they're gonna be able to be compatible with a three-inch wide by an inch and a half bar. The HD bars are made of aluminum so they're extremely light, but they still have a 220 pound weight capacity, which is amazing. Also has a nice powder coated finish which looks really cool as well.
It's gonna resist against rust and corrosion. Let's go ahead and take some measurements. Since these bars are a little bit thicker. We still aren't gonna have any contact with our back antenna if we do put a basket on. But from the top of our roof to the bottom of the bar, it's gonna be about four inches. And we have the sunroof open and that is not an issue either. A couple of things that I would add to the system is this Hitchmate Step, it makes it super easy to get up and load up your cargo, take the bars on and off. And this is just something that I liked just because it has a bunch of adjustments. This is a stock ride height for the Grand Cherokee. But if you have bigger tires or maybe even a little bit of a lift, we have a couple of different adjustments. But also another thing that I would recommend is the locking cores. The towers don't come with locking cores but you can just grab them separately here at etrailer. And the reason why I would suggest them is this is a really cool looking roof rack and it's so easy to take this off. So if someone sees it, they see that you don't have locking cores they could take it off in a matter of seconds. And since they're really quick and easy to take on and off we can go ahead and take our cap here. If we don't wanna have them up there, if we're going on a longer trip and not using our bars, and this is just gonna keep all of that water and stuff outside of our little mount. To prepare our feet, all we need to do is take our tower, and we're gonna take this little piece in here. It's gonna click into place and we'll take our little T-slot and line it up and we'll take our tool and fit it in this little slot and just thread that in just so it doesn't fall out. We don't wanna tighten it just yet. Now we can go ahead and put them on our bars. To do so, take your same tool. There's gonna be a little screw right here. Undo that, grab it out of there. It's usually easiest just to flip it upside down, comes out and then we can take this cap off. We only have to take a one of the caps off. So when we slide them in, we wanna make sure that the cap is gonna be facing the outside. So we'll put the first one on backwards, it looks like. Don't worry, this one's going all the way to the other side. Then we'll take this one and put it on the other way. Then we can go ahead and take our cap and put it back where she was. To take some measurements, what we wanna do is go to the center bolt that mounted our feet here and do it from center to center. So this one's gonna be about 41 and a half inches. And the one up front is gonna be a little bit different. Not much though. And that's gonna be about 43 and a quarter inches. Now we're gonna take those measurements and set our feet length. So I've already done this one. And the nice thing about these bars is we do have some measurements on there. But we're not gonna be doing the measurements from here, it's gonna be from this point there. So go ahead and line it up to where you want and then you can go ahead and tighten them down. Now we can go ahead and put them up onto the roof. Fit it in there, and then close the cap and that's gonna lock it into place. And that'll do it for our look at the Yakima HD Bar Roof Rack System on our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee..

Heavy-duty crossbars mount to Yakima towers to create an aftermarket roof rack. Top and bottom channels let you add channel-mount accessories. Tie-down points in endcaps let you easily secure cargo.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
etrailer was a great place to order, quick and easy. Yakima products however are over priced and overly complicated.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Great product, as are all Yakima products,in my opinion. These are on a Yakima system installed on my Diamond Back tonneau cover. Very pleased with them
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
We purchased the rack 5 weeks in advance of our up and coming trip. (Rack is amazing FYI). However, The website states free shipping over a certain amount. Weeks went by with notifications nothing was sent and the order kept being pushed back.
Once I called I was told those who chose to purchase shipping vs opting for the free shipping got their orders firsts; everyone else fell to the bottom. After waiting a month for “free shipping” I opted to have paid shipping and I received the rack within days.
While this company has many products I could use, I refuse to use them again because what is advertised is NOT what they ethically hold themselves accountable too.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
These adapters were easy to install and made my system fit together nicely.
I had a difficult time identifying whether these were the correct adapters for the rack towers that I was purchasing to fit my tracks but that has more to do with yakima doing everything a-la-cart instead of having kits that include everything you need if I hadn't already had the HD bars on my other rack and wanted to be able to transfer them to this rack I probably wouldn't have went to this expense because I think they are overpriced.AS far as etrailer is concerned I always receive great service and products and they are always well packaged and never damaged by poor delivery care and always fast delivery speed.
Your service is nothing short of excellent! Thank you
While putting the roof racks together, one needs to pay close attention to the detailed instructions; but, so far, the equipment is working well with a good fit on my Toyota highlander—I’ve traveled some 1000 miles so far.
Yakima OverHaul HD is built tough, sturdy, light but heave duty, well designed, easy to install and remove by leaving the locking base on the track. The height can be adjusted easily to a desired height to fit just right. The "bonus" is a beer bottle opener on each rail :)
Customer service at etrailer is excellent! Always responsive, immediately reply to help with any questions. Tayler K. was my sales representative, she's been super!
Great product and even better was the service with etrailer! These guys make it happen and delivery was super fast. Thanks for a fantastic experience, will be a return customer.

Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
The Yakima products are doing great. Just got home yesterday from a 18 day trip using them in Michigan's upper peninsula. Love them. Great products. Thanks again.
