Correct Roof Rack for 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I need an aero roof rack for my 2019 grand Cherokee. I've seen Q&As that mention an e package. What is that and how do I know if I have it? I don't see anything about an e package when I look up my Jeep to see what fits on your site. I'm confused.

You're confused because it's confusing. Partially because we've made it that way but we're trying to make it easier.

The current generation of Jeep Grand Cherokees has a few different roof options available; a naked roof with nothing on it, an all black strip that runs front to back on the roof, or a black and chrome strip with a track in it that runs front to back. The last of these three is what is included with the E-Group package from Jeep although it's not very commonly known. Until recently when you entered the year, make, and model of a Grand Cherokee that could have the package it was an option to select when looking at roof racks. Not long ago we changed our site to describe the three roof options instead of referring to it as the E Group package since most people don't know what that is. That's why you see a lot of our answers mentioning the package but don't see it when you go through our fit guide. Hopefully the new way is easier for people but it can still cause some confusion.

It basically comes down to what roof style your Jeep has.

If your Jeep has a naked roof the best aero bar system that fits is the Yakima JetStream bars, part # Y00426. They're great for reducing wind noise and I like how the rubber strip doesn't need to be removed to mount T-slot items to the bars. To mount them to the roof you need the BaseLine towers, part # Y28TR, and the BaseClips, part # Y06121.

If the Jeep has either of the rail styles I recommend a Rhino-Rack rack instead of the Yakima because it's also a quiet aerodynamic rack at a lower price point. It also includes locks to secure it to the roof. If you have the all black rails with no tracks use the 54 inch bars # RRVA137B-2, legs # RRRLKVA, and fit kit # DK234. The all black rails are commonly found on the Altitude models of the Grand Cherokee.

If instead your rails have the chrome piece with the tracks inside (which means you do indeed have the E-Group package) use the 49 inch bars # RRVA126B-2, legs # RRRCL4, and fit kit # RRRCP27-BK.

If you need help determining which roof style you have send me a picture and I can identify it. The picture I attached shows a different roof rack on the E-Group package rails. They're often on Limited models and higher, pretty much any Grand Cherokee that has a chrome grill and side mirrors usually has the E-Group.
