Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 60" Long - Black - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Honda Pilot we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System consisting of part numbers Y00426. These are the jet stream crossbars, 60" long and these also come in silver. These are going to be connected to the Baseline Tower System here and that's going to be part number Y00146. To connect it to the vehicle we had the Base Clip Fit Kit, part number Y06152, and that's going to be the same for the rear bars as well. This is a great roof rack system that can carry a wide variety of accessories such as bike racks, cargo baskets or cargo boxes. The bars have a nice aerodynamic shape to them and that couple with the rubber strip up at the top as well as the one you'll reinstall on the bottom will help cut down that wind noise and drag while you drive, eliminating the need for any fairings, like you would need with round bars.Removing our end cap here it can use t-track accessories with this system and instead of having to remove the strip like you would with other roof rack systems with this, you simply push down the strip in the center here and slide t-track accessories in place and then tighten them down.Moving to the towers, they do have these plastic knock-out's here that you can take out and replace with the Yakima SKS lock courses to which install separately, so you can secure this to your vehicle, and also make it key to like with the accessories that you are hauling. How it attaches to the roof. We have this clamp here with the Fit Kit, as well as this base pad, and both of these do have the padding as well as the clamp here to help protect the vehicle once it's being installed from any scratches or abrasions. So let's go ahead and show you how the rear bar gets put into place.
We already have it partially assembled on our table here. And our first step is going to be to attach our tower to the other end. Before we even started this though there was this rubber bottom that fit into this channel, we had to remove it to start installing our other tower here in the side and what happens is once you install the second tower, you would cut this strip to length and put it in between the towers and on either side to help take up the gaps to help keep it quiet while you're traveling. For demonstration purposes we're actually going to go ahead and leave that out.So this is one of the easier systems to install with the Yakima Roof Racks. We'll start by taking our plastic piece here that comes with our bar kit and installing it to the top of our tower.
It just snaps into place, you can hear a little bit of a click when you do so. Next we'll take our metal bracket and install it on the top. First we'll come to the inside of the tower and pull that tab out, so we can get to the screw to tighten it down. Place this on top like so, hold it in place and then go to our screw. Now looking at the bottom of our tower here you're going to see two screws. The one on the inside with the three notches is going to be what we call the pitch, and the one on the outside is going to be what we call the toe.
You're going to see these settings in the instructions as well while you're tightening these down. These aren't going to be tightened down quite yet, you do this once you actually have it installed on the bar. Just wanted to show you that out before we put it in place. So we'll take our top portion here, and we'll slide it in to our channel along the bottom, there we go, now looking along the bottom of the bar here, you'll see that it has several measuring lines here. You go by your instructions on how far apart the towers are supposed to be to the corresponding number. Which would be right there.
And now this is when we tighten down the toe, and the pitch portions here. With the three notches, realizing that this is the area that's going to be facing forward toward the vehicle, this is going to be set at B, or the middle notch, so we'll just tighten that down until you hear audible clicks from our tightening tool. It's going to be the same for this portion here, the toe, and that's going to be set at 2, and again you tighten it down until you hear those clicks. With that done, we'll take our end cap and put that back into place, and we'll take the pad from our base kit fit clip and snap that in as well making sure the arrow on the bottom is facing out away from the vehicle. Now we can go to our vehicle and start installing it there. We'll first set it up on our roof, very carefully. Make sure it's sitting evenly and then we'll measure from center to center of the bars and this again, this measurement will be in your instructions. We'll do it on both sides to make sure it's even and then we can start looking at the clamps and getting those tightened down. All right that looks good.We can open up our rear doors, loosen up the screw at the top here, you can see that rising, open up our little hatch there, and slide a clamp into place. Now you can see it's not making contact with the vehicle. Next we'll tighten that bolt that we just loosened and now you can see it resting against the vehicle. Now we'll do this same process on the driver's side. Now it doesn't necessarily have you do it in this order in the instructions. I find it a little bit easier to do it this way just so that we don't have to worry about the clamps falling off or anything like that while we're lifting it into place or by accident making contact with the roof. With that done now we'll loosely get them snug around the doorframe on each side. Then we'll start tightening it down until we here those audible clicks, like so. Also make sure that we close that portion there. Do the same on the other side and now we can put our end caps into place after which I'm going to give you a real quick measurement to give you an idea of how high these sit off the roof.So from the center of the roof to the bottom of the bar is going to be about 3" and from the center to the top is going to be about 4 1/8". So that's more than enough space for those accessories that wrap around your bars as opposed to using the t-track accessories without damaging your roof and you can also still utilize your sunroof as well. But since these do sit particularly high off the vehicle, once you have your bike racks fully loaded, and your cargo baskets fully loaded just keep that in mind when you're pulling back into your garage. These do have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds once installed but you always want to go by your vehicle manuals recommendation for roof ratings. Now you have it for the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System on our 2016 Honda Pilot.

Full-length aluminum bars maximize carrying capacity.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
product was just what I needed The folks at etrailer were extremely helpufl!!
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Easy to install. It probably took 45min. I bought them for my 2024 Expedition to haul a canoe. I have not done that yet but I expect no issues.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
I have a 10th gen Civic sedan and I was dying to get the perfect roof rack set for my car. At the time of my purchase there was not many visuals of what the rack system looked like on this car.
I purchased the:
•Yakima 50in Jetstream crossbars
•Yakima baseline towers
•bc182 & bc183 clips
•Yakima 46in fairing
Overall I love how it looks on my car! During This COVID pandemic I have been camping more, and this is the perfect foundation! First off, the 46in fairing is the perfect fit for the 10th gen civic! Wind noise is low also with the help of the aerodynamic crossbars. My main concern was the fuel efficiency. On long road trips I still average 38-40 mpg with the rack on. My daily commutes I average 34 mpg without Econ on.
I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT which has the non-functional roof side bars. Etrailer.com helped me figure this out and gave me several options that would work. As I already have Yakima bike racks - I wanted to stick with the brand. The price on etrailer.com was the same as Yakima but had free shipping and no tax - awesome. Product arrived quickly!
I went with the Yakima 60" Jetstream cross bars, baseline towers, and the appropriate pads and clips.
The Yakima product came with thorough and easy to understand instructions. I was able to get the track installed and working in about an hour - and that was taking it slow and double checking everything. I was very pleased with the fit and finish.
After a test run, there was no wind noise or issue with the rack. Looking forward to taking a road trip next month with it!
Product exactly as expected. Quality bars. Using on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Looks great installed. Little to no wind noise. And, as usual, top notch service by the etrailer crew! Have purchased several items from etrailer over the past 10 years and have always been impressed by how timely they are and how responsive and helpful they have been regarding product questions. They are absolutely the first merchant I go to when shopping on line!
The Yakima rack system for my 2015 Ford Fusion is an awesome product! I hadn't needed to buy aftermarket racks in many years. These are a super solid, beefy, and very well made product. I am very impressed with the quality and fit. Yakima has obviously put lots of design time into them. And etrailer does an outstanding job of making sure you get the right product for your specific need.
I chose this rack specifically because of the spread between the bars - 32" - and for the higher weight limit, as I'm carrying a fishing kayak.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Love it! We've made several long trips with full luggage loads.
Well packaged and on time
Not a bad setup. I dont believe you need the 60" bars i received as they hang over the edge of your Hyundai. You need to watch your head getting in and out of your vehicle. The Jetstream crossbars are very loud at speeds over 65 mph. Im probably used to it by now, but it is definitely noticeable. Much louder than an older Rhino Rack of similar dimensions i had. Install was simple and took about 30 minutes, just take your time and measure correctly like all roof racks.
Easy to order and quick to ship. Took a bit of time to get these installed correctly so they fit just right.
1 year later and still love my Yakima JetStream system. I've mostly used them to transport my kayak however I've also been able to transport some big box store items as well. They are very versatile. There is a t-track option as well as wrap around attachments. I've use ladder attachments, eyebolts, and Thule Hullavator in t-track. I've used Malone MegaWing and Yakima Skybox as wrap around attachment. What I really like about the t-track system is that you do not need to cut out the rubber track insert. You simply slide over the rubber, which allows you to adjust your system, on the fly, to load what you need to carry.
Excellent product. These bars are very quiet and look great on our truck. Assembly and installation was straightforward. We've used these bars to secure our large Yakima car top carrier and have traveled on several trips to the mountains and cabin with no issues. I suggest ordering an extra set of end caps as we've lost one in the car wash. However, have had no problems with the bars when going through the car wash.
As always, I GREATLY appreciate the superior product support that etrailer.com provides. They have the best product content on the web, hands down.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
Great service and great staff. They will have all the technical information you need.
These Yakima crossbars are a part of the Yakima towers I bought to install on my Jeep Cherokee to hold a pair of Kayaks. They fit great as advertised. In fact I got these discounted as an open box. I would have never known, they look brand new. Thank you etrailer for your great advice, customer service and quick shipping process.
The bars are sturdy, aerodynamic and super strong. I bought this to fit a Yakima Skybox 16 and these worked great. The measurement ticks on the bottom assist with getting the box centered and have a great gasket system that you fit yourself. These mounted pretty quick even in 20 degree weather.
etrailer sold this as a set based on my car and every piece was great and a perfect fit. Communication and tracking info was great and they delivered it a day before promised.
