Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford Edge, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero 2500 Series roof rack system. It's available in black with part numbers RRVA137B-2. They're also available in silver crossbars with part number RRVA137S-2. We'll also be using RRLKVA and part number DK228. The Rhino-Rack Rook Rack System is a premium roof rack for your Ford Edge. It features two 54" aluminum Vortex Aero crossbars.
Not only are they going to be stylish but they're aerodynamically designed to reduce wind noise and drag. The crossbars will also accommodate your T-slot accessories. The end caps feature plastic locking cores with a key included to prevent anyone from removing your T-slot accessories. If you'd like to upgrade those to all metal locking cores, you could four up with part number RRVA-LEC4.The crossbars are held in place by four Rhino-Rack 2500 Series foot pads, which are then hooked to our Ford Edge. Both the foot packs and the hooks feature padding so it won't arm or scratch our Edge's roof.
The foot packs also feature a locking cover with two keys included. This is going to prevent anyone from tampering with our hardware. When it's installed on your Ford Edge, it's going to add about 5-1/4" to the height. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now this roof rack system is designed for your Ford Edge's naked roof.
We've already got the front one installed. The rear one installs the same way. Let's go ahead and show you that now.Now for our rear crossbar, I've already got one side installed. Let's do the other side. We'll start by grabbing the foot pack.
We're going to turn it upside down, where we can access the foot. We'll grab the rubber pad. It's got a little arrow on it. We need to made sure that that's pointing away from our foot pack. What we want to do is push the pad onto our foot. Just line it up and we're just going to push it in place. We want to make sure that it gets on there all the way, just like that. Then, we can turn it back up and we're going to take out the bolt here. We'll then take our hook, we're going to place that right over the nut and then we'll just simply replace that bolt. Now we don't need to worry about tightening it down all the way, just get the threads started. We're now ready to put our foot pack on our rail. We'll need to make sure that the bolt up top here is in the loosened up position. Here's the underside of my crossbar. We'll need to slide it into the channel here. I'm going to take my foot pack, going to line up the square and then we'll just slide it in place, just like that. Then while I'm here, I'm going to go ahead and put on my end cap. Now before we position our rear crossbar onto our Ford Edge, we'll need to made sure that the foot pack is in the correct spot. Now in our kit, we have a measurement strip that actually gets installed on the underside or our crossbar to reduce wind noise and drag. And on the strip, it has some numbers. This is how we determine the correct spot for the foot pack. When it gets installed at the correct measurement, it gets trimmed and then that way that's in place. For demonstration purposes, we will not be using it. Per instructions, it needs to be 158 millimeters. We're going to line it up and we're going to go to the beginning portion of our foot pack. Once it's in the correct spot, we can then tighten it down with the included tool. Now let's put it into position on our Edge. It's a good idea to make sure that the rear doors are opened up and we're going to set it in the general area that it's going to be. Now per our instructions, our crossbars need to be 27-9/16" apart, center on center. We'll take our tape and measure center on center. And it looks like we are pretty close. And we want to do this for both sides. Now we can begin tightening down our foot packs. And what we need to do is we want to tighten it down on both sides until the hook actually makes contact with the inside of the door here. With both hooks making contact with the inside of our door, we can go ahead and start tightening it down completely to our Edge's roof. I'm going to give a couple turns here and then I'm going to alternate sides. That way it's tightened down evenly. Now there's no reason to over tighten, just get it nice and snug. And we're all set. The final step is to put on our covers. Put it in place and we'll lock it up. Now we're ready to load up our favorite Rhino-Rack accessory on our Ford Edge and hit the road. And that's going to complete our test fit on the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero 2500 Series roof rack system on our 2014 Ford Edge.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.Once installed the product is very sturdy and looks great. But the directions are hard to follow because of the separate components and would have been really tough without the video which was great. I have one problem, how can I eliminate the annoying wind sound when driving when nothing on the rack. I saw a video where wrapping a line around the crossbar can help. It has helped a lot but not completely. Is there another secret for this?
Buying this rack was a decision that I'm glad to report was spot on. It not only looks good on my Ford Maverick Hybrid but it has held up well and looks as good today as it did the day I bought it. It is also solid as a rock. The Rhino is also priced lower than other brands of similar quality.
These are the perfect racks for a low profile mounting of solar panels on my Sprinter van.
Amazing product! This rack is as good as Thule and Yakama, and is about $100+ cheaper. I have owned both, and love this rack. As good of quality or better, and great accessories as well.
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
This works great. Very strong and reliable. Holds my ladders with ease. I’ve had it loaded down and done 80mph on the highway no problem.
Very nice rack, looks great and performs well ! Easy to install . Thanks !
Etrailer sold me a discontinued rack from rhino and is missing parts. It is also the last one they had so can’t send me a replacement. Rhino rack will not support and has no parts as it is discontinued. Parts sent do not fit and nobody can do much about it. Second issue I’ve had with etrailer and disappointed. Need to think about if will ever use etrailer again in the future.
etrailer had the perfect solution to my car-top carrier scenario. All of the components needed were listed and available. The order process was an ease, the products arrived complete and on-time, and the products themselves are very high-quality. 10/10 will return for future needs.
I like the choices, videos and reviews on the website. Easy ordering. I received my order in only 3 days! This Rhino Rack system came with easy installation instructions. I did find that the measurement listed to set width of front crossbar was a bit off on my 2013 Ford edge. I made it a few millimeters wider and it was perfect. I use the racks to carry kayaks and have been very pleased.
Rhino Vortex 2500 roof rack setup on 2010 Ford Edge without factory racks. Everything I expected- as described in the videos- delivered when promised- installed without issue and functions perfectly- all at a fair price! After making sure it’s worked- I just ordered the XTRAY PRO cargo basket.
The definition of perfect:-)
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Purchased a Rhino Rack custom fit rooftop system, along with the kayak rack to hold two kayaks and the Swagman rv bike rack. Made several trips and they all work great! Included photos to share.
We were told when ordering that the items weren't in stock. Should not be expected until mid-August. We decided to continue with the order and were very surprised and pleased when we received our items two days after ordering. We have ordered from etrailer in the past and have been very pleased by their service and products. I'm sure we'll do more business in the future.
Excellent roof rack for my naked roof ...plus the installation video was perfect - rather than read thru the instruction manual the video saved the day. Customer service here was perfect too - my shipping had been delayed - and not once but twice the folks here helped me get it expedited very happy with product with video and customer service
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Great service. We sold our Toad and purchased a new (Lincoln MKX) to tow behind our motorhome. I contacted etrailer by phone and after a short dialogue, Blue Ox base plate and wiring components were on the way to my installer. Arrived in 4 days after my phone call ... free shipping. Worked great. ( still haven't towed new car yet). Now we need to modify ourRhino Rack for our canoe. I called Rhino Rack, got info and went back to etrailer. Again a well informed sales person got me all the parts that I needed to modify my canoe Rack for my new car. (Not free shipping).
Ok... bottom line... best price on the internet for what I was shopping for. Most informed and knowledgeable sales people. # 2... PPL motorhomes. Hope this helps others.
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
Jesse was great by answering all my questions and made me feel comfortable ordering the roof rack. Then it even showed up a day early!! It took us about an hour and a half to put the rack together and install it on our car. We did have to get online to watch the video because the printed instructions were great for the measurements, but not on how to put all the parts together. Before I wrote this review, I wanted to check out the performance - and once again, GREAT!
I will recommend this product and etrailer.com to everyone.
The Rhino-Rack 2500 series rough rack has turned out to be a perfect luggage storage solution for my Ford Edge Sport which has the all-glass panavista roof. I'm stationed with the US Army in Vicenza, Italy and they just don't have flexible solutions like this over here. Thanks again for shipping to APO addresses.
I purchased this because I needed 11" brackets and I only needed two to add to my existing setup. Other manufacturers (I could only find one) only sold packs of four at a ridiculously high price. My Rhino Rack mounts and bar arrived within a few days of my order and appear very sturdy and well made. I bought them to add a third support for an awning and a solar shower on the roof of my van. I think I found the perfect solution.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
