Roof Rack Recommendation for Installing Roof Cargo Basket on 2013 Ford Edge
Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Edge that did not come equipped with a roof rack. I am looking to install the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 49" x 40" x 6" - 150 lbs, Item # TH859XT on my roof. Can I do that without a pre-existing factory mount? Desperately need a solution to help me carry items my disabled wife requires while traveling. Thanks!

In order to attach the Thule # TH859XT roof cargo basket, your Edge will need a roof rack with crossbars. The Edge came from the factory with two different possible roof configurations, either a bare roof or with roof rails that run front to back along the both sides of the roof.
If you have the roof rails, the Malone # MPG216 roof rack would attach to the rails and provide an inexpensive way to attach the basket.
If you have the bare roof, you'll need to install a roof rack that attaches to the roof via clamps that attach at the top of the door jambs. You could get the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Bar Roof Pack for the 2013 Ford Edge that starts with a bare roof with parts: # RRVA137B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK228. This would be everything that you need to install the Thule Canyon XT Roof Basket # TH859XT.
