Video Transcript for Review of Ultra-Fab Products RV Vents and Fans - Plumbing Vent - UF53-945001

Today we're going to take a look at the Ultra-Fab solar powered plumbing vent for motor homes. How this plumbing vent will replace the factory vent on your RV to release odors and moisture outside your vehicle. It is very silent and reliable ventilation. And it is solar power operation, so it means no wiring, no pulling juice from your battery, and no excessive motor noise. It's a vent only function during the daylight, and cannot store power to operate at night. It is a nice aerodynamic construction, helps limit any wind drag.Very simple installation. It's a universal design. It bolts to the RV rooftop in place of the factory vent. Does come with the included mounting hardware.

Nice set of directions. And it is made of a nice ABS plastic to help resist corrosion.A few dimensions on this. Overall diameter, edge to edge, is right at seven inches. Overall height of the unit is right at three and three quarter inches tall. You can see there's your solar panel at the top, and there's your fan on the inside. Very quiet rotation. But that should do it for the review on the Ultra-Fab solar powered plumbing vent for motor homes.

These little solar vet caps Work just fine!
None-the-less, For all my PVC/ plastic roof top covers they fall victim to squirrels! The refrigerator Vent cap alone has been replaced 3 times in about 9 years.

I have installed these vents on two 7'x14' trailers that are used to store kayaking gear (boats, paddles, helmets,PFD's,clothing and other soft goods). Hoping that the constant air-flow will help prevent mold & mildew. I can already feel the difference in temperature (cooler) than prior to installation. They work, but the construction is so lightweight, I'm wary of how long they'll last. For $[XX], it seems they could construct them a little beefier.

We have a Suncast storage building and it was beastly hot inside on sunny days so I put some foam insulation between the inner and outer surfaces and installed 2 of these just below the ridgeline of the roof and they are working great. There is absolutely no noise what-so-ever. While they have a limited volume it takes the hot air out allowing cooler air to enter through the normal vents. Great deal for the money and now we will see how long they last making the value even better.

Installed new vents. No issues so far.

I installed the Ultra-Fab Solar-Powered plumbing vent sold by E-Trailer on my 13 ft. Scamp trailer to circulate and vent air in the trailer while it is being stored. There is indirect sunlight incident to the solar-powered vent that shines through some pine trees. The vent works perfectly. I installed a 4-in. air conditioner duct (sold by etrailer,Valterra Heating And A/C Vent Register) with built in flappers to regulate the air flow thru the solar-powered vent and to make the appearance of the vent look better from the inside of the trailer. Also made a trim ring out of a plastic cutting board to garnish the solar-powered vent inside opening. Look great and works like gang busters.

I had to replace the solar powered vent after one year of service. It was no longer operable. I took the malfunctioning vent apart and found that the seal at the solar panel directly above the motor had failed and permitted water to damage the motor. I installed a second new solar powered vent and took the time to place additional sealant between the solar panel ant its mounting plate.

Bought it and still haven’t installed it yet. Maybe next spring.

I am an Rv'er, but actually installed this outlet/exhaust fan on top of my shed. Living in S. Georgia, it gets quite hot and humid, and this thing has been spinning non-stop all year round. I sealed the circumference with all weather silicon as I bolted it down. Outstanding device, and I'll probably get one for my toy hauler as well!

Its been over a year and a half and that little fan is still moving strong, even on overcast days!

by:

They work great thank you.

by:

Installed this on top of my 8x8 shed for airflow and ventilation purposes. I've had it for a year now and it still runs almost all day. Sunny or even overcast skys will have it humming along. I was concerned with the plastic blades becoming brittle and not being able to withstand the highs and lows of Michigan's climate, but no issues thus far. I recommend this for a solar powered shed roof vent, but cannot give a review as to its intended rv venting capabilities.

by:

I didn't use my solar vent quite as intended. I mounted it into the top of a modified Rv roof vent (which I keep closed typically).

This is a replacement. The first lasted about 5 years but ultimately the plastic degraded in the sun and became brittle. I assume this will do the same over time. We shall see.

Works as intended. Keeps a little air flowing through the rv. Wish there were bigger solar fans for this job.

I installed this vent on the roof of a 6x12 cargo trailer. It worked well right out of the box, even during a cloudy day. Other reviews suggested adding a screen to keep insects out and so I did. The trailer will sit out in the hot Florida summer sun, and when I return later this year, I'll post an update on how well it performed. So far, so good.

by:

This is the second solar powered vent I have installed in my trailer in one years time. The first one leaked water into the motor located below and adjacent to the circular plastic piece containing the solar panels. I applied additional silicon to the top of the new I just purchased vent where a connection is made between the circular panel and it outer mounting piece. Hopefully this might work.

by:

I used this roof mounted solar powered plumbing vent to exhaust excess heat from an enclosed 5x8 trailer. The inside of the trailer remains somewhat close to ambient temperature

by:

Seems rather cheaply made…really should have an on/off switch for that price.
Don’t need it running all winter long just because the sun is out but it’s only 60 degrees! (So. Cal.!)
eTrailer was excellent as always though../

by:

Found these at the local trailer place, except they were way overpriced!
I replaced the entire roof with metal roofing and these were the only ones that would fit between the ribs.
Haven't installed yet, but the customer service so far has been TOP NOTCH! with extremely quick shipping and great follow up to ensure my satisfaction.
Recommend this site, keep up the great work!

by:

I bought this item for a snowmobile trailer to remove heat during the summer. I have yet to install it, but it seems to spin quite fast. I felt it would work a lot better than just one or two plain air vents. Heat builds up fast in a black trailer. I only purchased one, but would recommend two or more for larger trailers. This is solar powered so once it's installed the Sun does all the work...

by:

The low profile of the vent met my immediate needs. You cannot hear the fan running so unless I climb up on top it's a matter of faith. You cannot turn it off either. While it may be ideal for a backyard shed it's not a real improvement over a standard rv vent. No regrets on buying it but probably wouldn't buy another.

by:

Ordered to replace my worn out solar vent fan. Quick shipping!

A year later and the vent is still performing as expected. Haven’t had an odor in the unit since I installed this vent

by:

Great idea, poor quality. Worked fine for about a month before it began making spinning noises. Obvious that fan was becoming loose on it's axis, possibly from cheaply designed mount. Lasted about another 6 weeks before it stopped working completely.

These should not be a disposable item, and climbing a ladder every 2 1/2 months to change a vent is not an option.

I would NOT reccommend this

by:

Product took longer than expected to arrive. Package was well packed and protected.
Have not had a chance to try unit or install yet so cannot review or rate performance.
Service and ease of web site was very user friendly, I would recommend for purchases.
Overall, great job...

Installed unit after my 7/30/14 post and it has been working great ever since. Does not push a lot of air mass but I am sure it pushes more than no fan or at least as good as any similar product. The positive here is the solar. It does not have to be in direct sunlight by any means to operate.Great product IMHO!I dont use it on a trailer but on a small LifeTime plastic shed as it get very warm in there sometimes. So this product has other applications...

by:

seems to work as described. Does take a fairly bright sky to work...but not necessarily direct sun. As an FYI, fan was not on shaft when arrived. After I figured it went on with the embossed arrow showing rotation so that it could be seen, I firmly pushed it on the shaft but it was noisy when spinning. I pulled it back just a tiny bit and it ran noiselessly. Installation went smoothly. I did have to cut about 2 inched off vent pipe so the the fan did not hit the pipe. I also removed the 3 screws to separate the base from top (fan and solar panel) to make the base easier to install then reattached after base was fully installed.

by:

Mixed review, bought two of these, installed them both on my enclosed trailer, to help vent it. One of them stopped working a month later.

by:

Runs so quietly that it's hard to tell it's working. But I installed it on the top of my small trailer, where temps had soared to 119 Fahrenheit, and now the temps are much closer to ambient.

by:

I customized this onto the refrigerator roof vent to help keep it cooler. I used it for 3 months this summer and it worked like a charm! Reduced icing substantially ??????. It was totally quiet too.

by:

So far so good. We just hope the fan will operate for years to come. Just a little light on the solar panel and the fan starts working. Looks to be very good quality product.
