Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System Install - 2018 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton Fifth
Review of Furrion RV Camera System - Observation Camera and Side Marker Light Cameras - FCE48TASL-07
Wireless backup camera system has 3 waterproof cameras with night vision - 1 rear camera and 2 side marker light cameras with motion detection minimize blind spots and help prevent accidents. Touch screen, anti-glare monitor displays up to 4 cameras.
Features:
Specs:
Note: Will not work on 2016 and newer Mercedes Benz Sprinter or GM trucks that have PWM wiring.
The marker light side cameras are the ultimate upgrade for your RV's side marker lights. They give you the same DOT compliant marker lights with the added benefit of waterproof side cameras with LED night vision and motion detection. The cameras enhance visibility and minimize blind spots by giving you a wide 65-degree viewing angle. They also have detachable light covers for easy access to replace your bulbs.
The 8 infrared lights on the rear camera and 12 infrared lights on each side marker light camera produce a clear, quality picture. They give you the flexibility to back up your RV in low-light conditions at dusk or in complete darkness at night.
The built-in microphone on your camera is the perfect tool for backing up your RV. The microphone allows a friend or family member to relay information and instruction to you through your monitor's speaker, providing peace of mind as you work together to safely maneuver your RV.
No more wondering if you're getting too close to that other vehicle. The rear assist marker lines take the guesswork out when backing up. This helpful tool displays reference points of objects within your view to avoid collisions and safely maneuver your RV.
The motion detect feature allows you to set the motion sensitivity level of your cameras to low, medium, or high. On the low setting, your cameras will not detect a pesky raccoon until it's very close or already in your garbage, whereas on high setting, they will detect the raccoon approaching from further away. Your monitor will automatically illuminate to alert you once motion is detected.
The auto-off setting is a great power saving option. Working in conjunction with the motion detect setting, this feature allows you to limit the amount of time your monitor stays on. Once motion is detected, you can program your monitor to power off after 10, 20, or 30 seconds of inactivity. The LCD auto off option will only power down the illuminated screen while keeping the monitor on.
The quad split or H split display allows you to view up to 4 camera angles at once (additional camera sold separately). Depending on your camera setup, you can view blind spots behind your RV or on each side of it while driving down the road or backing up.

Wireless backup camera system has 3 waterproof cameras with night vision - 1 rear camera and 2 side marker light cameras with motion detection minimize blind spots and help prevent accidents. Touch screen, anti-glare monitor displays up to 4 cameras. The installation was fairly easy. The trailer came prepped for the rear camera so, it was attached and linked. The side cameras involved a little work due to being close to the pass-through doors. They went on with a bit of cutting of the trailer skin.
The problem is the right side trailer camera is reading that it's the left side and visa versa for the right. They are both installed correctly, facing back and the pairing button on the bottom.
Also when the two side cameras paired they caused the rear camera to unpair. I re-paired the rear and now the right side ( left camera ) is unpaired.
I've emailed Furrion for answers to my situation.
Have not been out on the road yet but the install was easy even for a novice like me. My reflection 5th wheel was prewired so it was a plug and play for the rear camera. For the side cameras I used the two screws from the previous light. I put both screws in the top holes, (one behind the camera) as that seemed to secure it better then bothe screws not behind the camera. Instructions were a bit limited(or I didn't read them) on the side camera sync but I pressed enough buttons to figure it out. Picture looks great. Do watch for obstructions such as awning supports which will limit view. I also used silicone to keep the water out.

I find that i use the rear camera much more than the side cameras so i question whether i would have bought the side cameras again. The rear camera would cut in and out on the highway so I added a longer antenna and you have to make sure both antennas are straight up and down to get the best signal. All in all i get a good view behind the 35ft trailer and would buy the rear again.
When we first got this system it did not want to pair with the side marker cameras. Finally got them to pair but have never paired again. Warranty expired and now I’m hung. Do not recommend this item!! Support has not been good from Furrion or etrailer.
they work fairly well I have them hook up to the signal lights so they come on with the signal light (diodes are required)also have them on a constant power(signal only) so I can turn them on at any time(like when parking)the only thing is they should (build or supply an extension block to go passed the awning brackets.I made one to look passed the awning but I still have to modify the angle as I build it straight so it left me with a blind spot in the right far corner.but you can pick it up in your mirror. In photo one the awning is out but you can see where the awning bracket will come down and block the view if I didn't make the spacer.
I purchased the three Furrion Camera System which includes the rear, left and right side views.
Overall the system is excellent with sharp, real time views. I had a cheaper rear camera on a different camper and while the view was fair, it does not compare to the Furrion.
Coming home from Pennsylvania last August, we ran into some heavy rain. The right side camera began “clouding” up due to moisture inside the camera lens. Since the system was still under warranty, I contacted Furrion by email (they don’t take calls apparently) and their representative instructed me how to get a replacement. The process was relatively easy and I had a replacement camera within two weeks. Furrion customer service worked well.
However I just got my travel trailer back from have some warranty work done and when I hooked up my monitor, the left side camera was cloudy. I went through the same process and I just received word that a replacement was on the way (save your emails).
Even with the two side cameras having issues, I would still give it five stars due to customer service. Hopefully the new side cameras will stay clear (as they should even in wet weather) and the cameras I had replaced were just in a defective group.

Great. No issues with the cameras fogging up. Works as designed.
This camera set up is a great addition to our Rv. However it’s not quite as advertised. Our 2022 RV that we just purchased came pre wired for these specific cameras but it is not wired for the whole security set up and the cameras can only be seen on the monitor when the running lights are on the Rv are on which only come on when hooked up to the truck and are on on the truck. The “trigger” for the side cameras would be the directional also not wired in on the marker lights on the RV thus a waste of money for the side cameras and security monitoring. Without the directional trigger while driving, only the back up camera is viewed on the monitor. Also there is no power supply for the monitor for in the RV. Great technology but falls short for plug and play.

When mounted in the cab, the monitor typically works as an observation system together with a Furrion rear mounted camera to see the back, and two side cameras, for traffic observation. When mounted in the coach, the monitor typically works as a security system together with a Furrion doorway camera. In order to keep the cameras on when not hooked up to your truck you will need to wire it by running a power wire to each camera then connecting them to a switch like item # 37212225. The switch will go directly to the battery in your trailer. You will need to turn the switch on while towing too, or the cameras will not be on. You should also add a 12V outlet in your trailer for the monitor to plug into when you are in the trailer like item # 37215105.

Everything was wrapped and packed secur ely
The box I think these are in is damaged, don't know if contents are or not..The under RV storage unit was left down the road beside the mailboxes on two pallets with the damaged box thrown on top... Had just happened to tell a friend about it earlier and he drove by it and let me know.. Not sure if any of it is in good shape or not yet... We will see

The cameras have been doing great!! Great purchase.
Everything works great as advertised. We’ve been 1 year on the road from PA to FLORIDA to Wyoming and back to PA.
My one wish is that the 3 view screen would stay on the monitor as needed. (unless I missed that in set up)

I reached out to Furrion who did provide a possible solution. You will want to use the camera menu to access the LCD setting and turn it off. You will also want to make sure that the motion feature is also off. While in settings there will be a view all setting and you will want to choose the view that you will like.
Installed this myself. Took about 6 hours. Finding the correct wire to splice was the worst. The picture is before the forever install.
Focus, color, and the wide angle of view are excellent. On cloudy days the contrast and resolution are perfect. Five Stars. On sunny days the image washes out, especially if I’m wearing sunglasses. It needs an automatic aperture on the lens, or adjustable brightness and contrast. I just don’t wear my sunglasses, pull down the Sun visor as far as possible, and squint. Two to Three Stars. I don’t tow at night, so no comment on that. Overall, I find it to be helpful and would buy again, but would pay more for one with improved performance.
The cameras work great. The set up wasn't as easy because Forest River has the plug and play set to the back up lights. So if you do their install the camera will only work when you are backing up. Not what we wanted. A quick google search found someone with a Forest River/Surveyor trailer who gave the instructions to hook it up to your clearance lights. So that's what we did.

Weve had this a year and still give it a 5 star. It makes backing up, driving down the freeway and roads so much less stressful. we can see everything behind us. Like others we dont use the side cameras as much but having the option is great.
Love this camera system. Don't know how you can back up safely without it.
I'm giving etrailer 5 stars on sales and delivery. I just received the camera system but haven't installed it yet. Get back to you on a later date.
I purchased this camera system before the wife, and I took out on a 3-month adventure following the Gulf Coast from South Padre Island Texas to Key West Florida and then back to north Texas. Before this trip we had complete several others and I was always worried about the tailgating cars we had encounter. They would get so close and then you would lose sight of them in your mirrors. So, before we headed out, we decided to invest in the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras - 7" Screen.
Our camper had been prewired for a camera system, so the install was super easy. Basically, a screwdriver was all that was needed. You unscrewed the existing light signal, unplugged it then replaced with new one. So easy I would have trusted my teenager to do it (and that’s saying something). You must pair the cameras which was super easy and we tested it in the yard a few times before we headed off.
Pros:
-Easy Install. Super easy if you already are prewired from factory.
-Worked GREAT. Easily to see other cars behind you when you can’t from mirrors.
-Made backing into spot super easy and eliminated the wife standing in blind spots waving me back. Now she thinks she did so well since we no longer get frustrated that I am not following her hand signals. LOL
-Picture is clear (could be better but it does the job).
Cons:
-Screen mounting location. The screen is big, so it takes a lot of room if you mount it on your windshield within your view. I did do this, but it does block a good bit of your vision.
-Powering system: So, the cameras only activate if you have power going to them. The way mine is prewired it only supplies power when some form of driving/parking lights are on. My truck has automatic lights so no power until you override the auto and use manual lights. Then you forget and leave them on when you stop and go in somewhere. Really just a nuisance not a huge issue.
Recommendation if company see this post:
A lot of today’s trucks are equipped with touch screens and some sort of Car Play or Android Play systems. Since the cameras required Bluetooth to connect to provided screen anyways, develop an App for Apple and Android devices to display cameras to the vehicles screen, that would be AWSOME. Or some sort of adaptor that can plug into the system. This would reduce the visual interference the large screen takes up in the windshield.
This was easy to install and will ad value if we every sell our RV. I haven't really had the need to use it though as we always try to get a pull thru site.

To be perfectly honest, Ive never needed it
System works as you would think. I did had an issue with the angle of the camera lens on the right side. It did not show the side of the RV like the left side did. I spoke with Furrion and they sent me a replacement unit. There was still an issue and I had to make a shim to get the correct view of the side of the RV. There maybe something with the side of the RV, because the left side was perfect. Anyway it works well. I am glad I bought them. Makes seeing the blindside a whole lot better. Being able to switch from side to back camera is nice. Being able to select which two cameras I wanted to see on the screen at one time that would be a nice feature. Overall good buy.
Install was easy everything went well I wish the side marker cameras could be adjusted to get a Veiw of the side of the camper. It would give a Mark to line up with.

Everything is working well. I would purchase again
Installed quite easily, installed all 3 camera in 30-45 minutes. The 2 side cameras I don't use that often, while they work great, I just find I don't use them too often. The rear camera however, I've found great going down the highway. The rear camera is awesome with allowing the sight at the back of the trailer to cleanly pass and re-enter the left lane. Also it makes it great to back into spaces with a clear view of what's behind the trailer. I would recommend this system to everyone and would buy it again.
The system works great as advertised, I especially enjoy the large screen view as I drive RV on highway. What gives it 3 stars is the system only views the three camera screen for a minute or two then reverts back to default rear view screen. Very frustrating trying to park RV when the side cameras disappear and I have to keep touching the screen to get the three camera screen. Would be five star system if I could set the rear camera default time longer. It defeats the purpose of three cameras if they appear for such a short time. I have a 40ft 5th wheel and I sometimes need 10-15 mins to back into a tight site.
We are less then happy with the monitor. The monitors clarity is lacking, and it does not seem to get bright enough or clear enough. It is very difficult to actually see what’s going on behind you with the quality of the monitors screen. We had an older back up camera on our 2007 Lance camper that the clarity of the monitor were far superior to this one. We do not recommend this camera system to anyone because of the monitor.
Website description said these cameras were for a 2018 Jayco Feather but I have a 2022 Jayco Feather 24BH and knew they would work because they're the same ones the dealer sells. In the installation video it noted to also order the wire shrink butt connectors but they weren't needed for the 2022. From the factory there were some easy quick snap disconnects (see pictures) already installed and the side marker lights are higher on the coach and access to the wires were inside the forward storage compartment. Install took about 1 hour for all three cameras but I spent more time than I wanted to in order to figure out how to get power to the cameras (indicated by the blue LED light on the camera casing). Turns out I had to turn my Ford F150 headlights off from AUTO to ON and then I was able to finally pair each camera without any issues. Pics below show the side lights as they were wired from the factory. Just removed the panels inside the front storage area to access the lights. Didn't have to run separate trigger wires either like the video said. Just take a picture of your wires before disconnecting them and then wire it back up to the same quick disconnects. Easy peasy.
After installing this over a year ago on my 42 ft fifth wheel the unit is still working well. I purchased a second backup camera to install over my door under the awning for a security system. I bring the monitor inside turn the light on and can see and hear everything that's going on outside the door. There is two different ways you can wire the system but my cedar Creek was pre-wired for it so insulation was easy.
These camera gave me a great range of view. Especially nice when in traffic driving through cities. The only issue I had was with wiring the side marker light cameras. My trailer only has 2 wires to the marker light but the camera has 4. I figured it out but it took a little time. The wiring diagram that comes with the cameras could probably be a little more detailed.

I dont use the side cameras as much as I thought I would. it does work nicely.
